These are excerpts from a letter written to us by the OWNER of a large venue in the Dallas area, after having experienced the Tension;

....................
We had the honor of having Tension Speak perform in August 2009.  They are so talented, and have an awesome range of music. The crowd loved them, and they indicated it by cheering the band on as they sang. The entire band was fabulous to work with, and very professional. We can't wait to have them back!"

Thanks Dorothy and Carl, we love you too..!!

Tension Fans, Team Tension;

Memorial Sunday , May 24th, we were the Featured Artist at Scout Bar in the Texxas Traxx Showcase, hosted by 99.5 KISS FM's Randy Bonillas. Along with us, our friends Sixxer and a great band from Houston, Cellcyst.

Sixxer kicked off the night, typical Sixxer fashion (kickass) then Cellcyst rocked the stage. We did our thing, except this time we pulled out a few tricks- the debut of our new stage box (ala Mike ) and during Angel, Dan jumped up on the box, as ADogg worked his wah pedal while playing bass...pimp, right?

After our last song, The Fall (which still has us at #5 in TOP 100 Artists, MySpace Music Charts- Metal tx) we ran back into the green room, sweaty, tired, and ready for some ice cold beer. Then, one of the dudes from the other bands came in and said "hey guys I think they want you all out there again..hahaha". Just as the soundman came around the corner to disconnect, we sent him back to the board - time to break out an encore, it closed out the night with the power and finality our people wanted!

Listen to 99.5, they have been playing THE FALL and you may just hear it some more... ; ) Call 210-470-5477 99.5 KISS request line to request THE FALL by TENSION SPEAK

Thanks to Randy Bonillas, Texxas Traxx, Scout Bar, and ESPECIALLY all of our kickass friends/fans...

Not sure if you all know this, but Tension Speak is performing an all acoustic engagement at HOT TOPIC in the Rivercener (Riverwalk) on Thursday May 21st, which is next week.

With Blink Of An Eye as our only truly all acoustic tune, we obviously need to play our other material "unplugged" - so last night, we ran through much of our normally hard/loud & in your face set list, but with acoustic guitar / bass, and Randy playing a different style on his set.

WOW. WOWWW.

We looked at each other, and after the rehearsal, agreed that we almost can't decide which way some of these songs sound better, acoustic or full on electric!

Come on out and see the "other side" of Tension Speak next week at Hot Topic, and if you can't make it, rest assured that although this landmark engagement is our first ever all acoustic show, based on how it sounded, it will not be our last!

(meanwhile we are ripping the roof off of Tonic Bar this Saturday!!)

ROCK ON~!

The band has some exciting news to share.
First off, we are all pretty excited here in the Tension Speak camp because of the fact that the new song demo ("The Fall") we posted last week has been played over 1,700 times in a little over 7 days.  Much thanks to all out fans for making it one of our most popular songs, and THANKS for all the messages and comments!
.
Also, we just learned that (today) Tension Speak has reached the # 8 spot today on the MySpace chart Top 100 metal bands / Texas.  We are blown away by this and hope that with your help we can reach #1.

Again, much thanks to all our fans, friends, family, and supporters for making us feel like our music does matter…we are humbled.

So, let's get together this Saturday at the White Rabbit as we jam out with Sixxer, Rewired, and a host of other bands.  Let's celebrate the rise of the Tension as shows start at 9pm and we hit the stage at 11:00.UPDATE - TENSION SPEAK HAS MAINTAINED IN THE TOP 5 OF TOP 100 ARTISTS (unsigned/metal/Texas) FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW!! THANK YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS YOU !!!

Spread the Tension!

Last night, we had the pleasure of sharing the stage with national act STEMM at Club Rio. These guys hail from Buffalo NY, and are the official music-makers of the UFC. Well, all we can say is they fuckin' rock.  Stemm threw it down from start to finish.  Just as important, they are cool bunch of guys too. We enjoyed drinking and shooting the shit with the fellas before and after the show, and who knows - they just might add some TENSION to some of their shows one of these days.

Travel safe STEMM, and rock on Tension Heads!!!

NEW SONG (DEMO) POSTED-   THE FALL

We have received MANY requests for a “sneak peek” at some of the new material that we are working on at the studio.  Although there is much editing and mastering to be done, we decided to give everyone a taste of the new stuff and post this demo version of 'The Fall'.

This song is about how sometimes in life things can get difficult and sometimes we have to fall to the bottom in order to find our way back up to the top.

What you hear is A-Dogg's growling bass, complimented by Randy's signature drum work.  And to top it all off, Ray's and Dan's PRS guitars flowing through the Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifiers, the foundation and basis of the Tension Speak sound.  Of course, you can't forget the powerful voice of Mr. Mike "Muneca" Doll  - this is the first time he is getting some spins, so show him some love.

As you can see, this is just a taste of what’s coming in the upcoming release.  We can’t begin to tell how powerful, diverse, and exciting all the songs are for this album.  Stay tuned as we will be keeping everyone up to date on the progress in the studio.

When it’s finally ready, the Tension will be unleashed!

THE BAND: Tension Speak

THE MEMBERS: Mike Doll, lead vocals; Ray Martinez, guitar and vocals;
Dan Baird, guitar; Andy Chinigo, bass; Randy Martinez, drums and vocals
THE SOUND: Tension Speak can play radio-rock music, slow but heavy, with deep melodic vocals - the band can even do acoustic.
But when Tension Speak decides to play heavy, the music is borderline metal, much more aggressive than its radio-rock peers.
Lead singer Mike Doll's high ranging vocals are met with drummer Randy
Martinez's bloodcurdling screams; the slow beat is filled out by
rolling double-bass, and the combination of palm-muted distortion and
fast-picked guitar leads.
Bass player Andy Chinigo keeps up as well and is endorsed by Spector basses and Basson Sound Equipment.
"A lot of companies are showing interest as far as working with us,"
guitarist Ray Martinez said. However, the members realize that nothing
comes for free.
The group has self-financed two California tours, where it had the
opportunity to play venues such as The Roxy on the Sunset Strip.
This weekend, the band is scheduled to begin recording its first
full-length album, Six Year War. It will include new versions of two
very different songs.
"Blink of an Eye," a thoughtful acoustic song about a father going off
to war, will be recorded with a full band and electronic equipment.
"Shatter," one of the band's heavier songs that begins with lots of
double bass, will be recorded acoustically by Martinez and Doll.
"We like to change it up and keep the crowd really interested," Martinez said.
THE BACKGROUND: The band's current lineup has only been around since
November, but the idea began in the fall of 2002 when Ray Martinez and
his younger brother, Randy, started jamming together and with other
local musicians.

Tension Speak in its first form lasted from spring 2003
until about two years later, when it began losing members. Since then,
the band has had many auditions and changed members a few times.
Dan Baird, 31, has been in the band for two years and is its third guitarist.
They put out ads in search of a singer and bass player, which is how
Doll and Chinigo heard of the group. The members auditioned three bass
players before finding Chinigo, and 11 vocalists before Doll.
"A guy drove from Missouri twice to try out for the band," Martinez said. "I hated telling him no."
It's been six years since Tension Speak formed, and the members finally feel they have the right lineup.
"I think everything has finally fallen into place, where we have the
right maturity level, as well as the right mix of talent and
dedication," Martinez said. "The current lineup is the one that we're
putting everything behind."

Tension Speak (TS) is thrilled that our bassist, Andy "A-Dogg" Chinigo, was accepted for endorsement by both Basson Sound California, and Spector Basses NY. These world renowned, hand crafted cabinets and basses will provide the big bottom end TS needs to complete our unique sound.

With both Basson and Spector on board, and A-Dogg behind them, the TENSION will be felt!!
