Have you got yourself a copy of the brand spanking new long player from 4hero and you call yourself a fan? Jokes aside, Marc Mac and Dego have been in the rather fickle industry we call the music business for over twenty years and are still going strong thanks to you, the discerning fans. Their latest project Extensions has a little story to tell - I think they tell it best...
EXTENSIONS is not a remix album but an extension of 4hero music in the form of cover versions, no artists got any parts or files it's just pure vibrations. Who knows maybe we can make this a series and compile part 2 with a USA vibe now that Dego spends much time in NYC.
It's officially released on 19th October but it's hit the streets already. For more info check the link -

It seems there is something in the air and quite exciting about having parties on a Sunday afternoon with the likes of Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge’s imminent Dingwalls soiree on November 22nd, being at least one of the highly anticipated guaranteed spots for superior musical endorsements if their last reunion is anything to go by. Another big name returning to London to embark on a similar venture is Jazzie B. The man behind the Soul II Soul brand has combined forces with The Doctor’s Orders & Trippin Records to launch Back II Life this November 1st, from 4pm till you stop dancing - every week. Joining the residents Jazzie, Dominic Versell, Spin Doctor & Nigel Gore is an impressive roster of guests which include Marc Mac (4hero), Phil Asher, Quentin Harris, Ben Johnson & Jephte Guillaume. If you were ever fortunate to enjoy some of the memorable parties gone by at the Africa Centre back in the day this one’s for you http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=46203396332&ref=ts#/event.php?eid=149038587565&ref=ts

Getting straight into it...
Artist: CIRCLE OF FUNK Title: ‘Fear Of Time’ EP Label: Slapped Up Soul, UK Catalogue no: SUS003

Hi hats aplenty with sharp beats over the melodic piano chords are irresistibly catchy as they ride over the funky guitar bass of the opening track ‘London Groove’. Contrastingly, ‘Organic House’ sounds like an old school gem for DJ’s who can use this tool; it’s cleaned up synths, funky sub woofer bass line, lots of percussive flair and nicely timed drops of a classic vox sample will be a refreshing uplifting fitting to any house night.
Known originally for mixing up hip hop beats, Tim Westwood connections and having been one-time DMC Finalists, Circle of Funk are a Bristol and London based collective of DJ’s, producers and musicians. They've carved themselves a groove in house music for the last nine years following a Deli G introduction, and have since been cutting it up at house clubs with many luminaries lincluding Jon Cutler, CJ Mackintosh, Bobby & Steve, Copyright to name but few.

· Having been out of action for a while now on account of a near-death experience recently, from which I am almost (physically) recovered – hallelujah! I am doing my best to enjoy life, albeit at a slightly slower pace for now, but not for much longer. Thankfully, things are picking up again at the TMP towers in the PR area with a lovely house ep on the way very soon to those of you DJ/journalists in the know from upcoming UK talent Circle Of Funk. If any of you need CD’s you should get in touch only if you haven’t already received your copy of the promo by the end of this week.

· Lastly, calling all Leroy Burgess fans! The one and only legend of the boogie is returning to the UK this Friday 25th September for a special live appearance at the Protobello Nu-Jazz Festival ‘One Night Affair’. Hosted by Leroy Smith’s Direct Drive TV this promises to be something spectacular. The fact that another legend the UK’s, Mr Trevor Shakes and his dance crew shall presenting their fancy footwork too, is enough to be causing a stir of much more than nostalgia for some of the crowd and is definitely the icing on the cake, along with Dave Lee and the Sunburst Band on stage. On the turntables Fitzroy da Buzzboy, Rotation’s Femi Fem and SouledUp.com magazine head Gareth Morgan will be churning out the musical platters! It's so nice having returned from sunnier climbs to be hit by a multitude of rays of London sunshine beaming all over and causing us all to get out dusty flip flops, giving some folks an opportunity to display unkempt winter worn feet of corns, bunions, chapped and dry skin sheddings, hmm very nice. Still, it could be worse, like me seeing as I did two days ago one tired looking war veteran pensioner who's buttocks was entirely tattooed to look like a pair of Y-Fronts only to bedazzled by his turkey neck looking genitals dangling about nine inches in length towards the ground as he casually walked along the sandy shores of a Barcelona beach I kid you not. The old chap brought new meaning to the phrase 'letting it all hang out' - obviously he was wanting an all over body tan! Speaking of which, I'm now shimmering with a wonderful glow and hoping to maintain it, so I'm praying for a heat wave in addition to some cool, breezy nights so that we can all enjoy any clubbing or late night ventures over this and the coming weekends a bit more comfortably. I've highlighted a few essential events in this last weekend of June, listed them below to save me repeating things you can have a look and hope to see you out and about at one or two of them. Iincluding the LADYBUGZ special gig this Friday in Shoreditch. Featuring one of my favourite all time underground deejays and fabulous producer, the legendary and affable KERRI CHANDLER, who'll be taking things deep into boogie wonderland and is not to be missed. Also, The Soul Testaments show hosted by Marcia Carr broadcasts the 1st Saturday of each month... Catch the next instalment on Saturday 4th July 2009, from 6pm - 9pm. If you have a testimony to share, a tune request or comments on the show you would like to make send your email to soult@gforceradio.com
