All I was doing was taking the train downtown to pick up my 335 from Rudy's repair shop. Often when I go to 48th St. I really don't want to go into the stores. Manny's and Sam Ash are just nightmares of noise and hype and attitude but Rudy's is different. The problem with Rudy's is that you spend top dollar on anything you buy there but they have lots of great super expensive vintage guitars to look at (just in case you win the lottery- right after getting a parking space for the car). They also have good new stuff. The repair shop is actually in another building so I didn't have to go into the store but that particular day I thought, oh what the hell I'll just go in for a minute.

So in I go and I see this guitar on the wall, a new Gibson ES 336. I had been wanting to check one out and this was the first one I had ever seen except for pictures online. I thought OK why not try it? So the guy there hooked me up into some nice amps and I start playing it and thinking, well this is pretty nice. This feels pretty good and hmm this sounds really good and boy it's really in tune and I just kept playing and thinking am I really going to do this?

So obviously I did do that and I totally love this guitar. It's similar to my 335 in shape- the body size is smaller and the neck feels like a combination of 335 and Les Paul. It also just sounds really good- I'm usually a reverb addict but I have to say that this guitar straight into an amp with nothing else is pretty nice. It's also beautiful and did I say I really love it? It's amazing to me that Gibson is making such great new instruments. It wasn't cheap but for reasons I won't go into now I regard it as a last gift from my Mother. Anyway I'm really pleased.......now I just gotta work on how to play it.....

I got back last week from a month long tour with the Jen Chapin Trio- Jen on vocals and guitar, Stephan Crump on bass and myself playing guitar. We had a really great time going around the Midwest and South, meeting wonderful people all over the country. We played in some more or less normal music venues in Chicago, Milwaukee etc. but also had some really special shows in places like Davenport Iowa, Asheville NC, Chatanooga TN , Birmingham AL Terre Haute IN Cedar Rapids, Stevens Point Wisconsin and elswhere. Some of the best shows were house concerts presented by people who really love music and attended by more of the same. One of the best was Rock and Kris' place in Ferdinand Iowa- a fantastic house in the middle of a field that they had moved 30 miles to save from a flood plane. A real mecca for arts and music and just generally thinking people who care about culture and community. It was also really cool to have a chance to put my new CD out there and have some folks actually buy it!

Oh yeah I forgot to mention Maceo, J&S's 19 month old son- a very important part of the whole trip. He loves going to the gigs, climbing all over the stage, handing us our guitar stands and playing with my pedals. He's my youngest best friend for sure.

Thanks to everyne who came to our shows and inspired us to share our music with you. It was just a darn good time......

Well I'm really happy to say that I finally have my copies of my new CD. Everything is working, unlike the previous batch, and i think the sound is actually improved by having done a little re-mixing and re-mastering. Anyway I sent them in to CDBaby and they should be avaiiable in a few days. It feels very good to have gotten this far. Now I hope people will like it!

Well I tried again recently as a few of you know to post another music page.......and after about a week it's just gone. I am so disgusted by this, I have to say F*** myspace........excuse me but it's maddening. Anyway anyone who would like to hear my music can go to my web site jamiefoxguitar.com and check it out.

No more music page experiments for me......

Well maybe nothing good comes easily (don't know that I really believe that) but in this case it's true. I finally got my boxes and boxes of brand new CD's- cover looks good, put it on and find that something went REALLY wrong sound-wise. Either the master was flawed or the manufacturer messed up but now I have 1000 good covers and useless CD's.

SOOOOOO....I'm figuring it out and maybe in a few weeks I'll get my new CD again!
