i have returned from the land of humidity and amazing food. despite being sick and exhausted, i had a very good time. i'll get photos up eventually. i fell asleep for most of the afternoon after sleeping 10 hours last night and i think that's going to be the timbre of the next few days. making up sleep debt and kicking the last of this flu away.

thanks to everyone who took care of me saturday. i didn't mean to get that drunk (famous last words), but i realized the next day that i didn't eat anything, or drink any water, and that did me in.

i had the worst hangover ever on sunday. so i've paid!

but i had a great time. thanks to markee, dave, eric, and george for throwing such a great party.

you know you're a geek when you game together on your anniversary and have an intimate moment by computer light because you can't find a lighter to light the candles.

any and all who may have thought this post was about katherine dunn's awesome novel, geek love (which is not at all about gaming, fantasy novel reading, comic book collector type geeks, but rather carnival folk who bite heads off of chickens, and is about love in only the bleakest sense), sorry to disappoint.

hey folks, so i'm back at home, recovering. i really miss my morphine button, though. i didn't realize how bad of shape i was really in until the pain killers they were giving me (morphine plus an injected anti-flammatory pain medication) wore off. trying to move felt like i was tearing my insides in two. the vicodin is making it tolerable now, though i hobble around slowly and hunched over like an old lady.

still, i'm mentally collected and am going to be glad to have a few days paid vacation from work to do some summer reading and writing.

i was awarded an A+/highest honors for my senior honors seminar/thesis. huzzah!

(let's hope i can pull off summa cum laude for my overall university honors too, i have a friggin 3.893.)

so i found out that these mysterious pains i've been having for six years are gallstones. every one i've met who's had gallstones has been appauled i tolerated the pain that long, but what can i say, for more than half those years, i didn't have insurance, the rest, i thought it was IBS and incurable. not to mention that time is not something i've had an abundance of. but it goes to show you should always get diagnosed.

i meet with a surgeon on thursday to set a date to have my gallbladder removed. apparently it's absolutely full of them and my doctor wants it out as soon as possible.

i bought my ticket to thailand today after completing my honors oral defense. call it a reward for completing a 56,000 word piece and successfully defending over an hour of intense Q&A with three professors.

i'm for real, real going!
