Hit pizzababe.com to hear three of Dave's songs, two from the new album. Pizzababe is a bit of a podcasting legend and, whilst her show is certainly adults only, she has a huge listenership.
Homemade Hit Show also featured a song from Hard Road Home.
Dave has started writing the last tracks for the next album which will be a more acoustic affair featuring some new players, songs and sweet sweet sounds...

Hi guys, With setting up a Facebook account, releasing an album, finishing a Masters degree, commencing album number 4, enjoying my gorgeous 2 year oid son and realising that I am not getting any younger, it struck me I have not updated the blog page. The Usual Suspects (www.theusualsuspects.com) have been playing a fair bit and sounding really really good. The rehearsals for the original stuff are slow, but will get a shot in the arm as of next week. I recently acquired two more guitars (Epiphone Dot - which for the afficiandos is a copy of the Gibson ES 335...it is beautiful and inspiring me every time I pick it up. I also now have an Epiphone resonator guitar which is an acoustic guitar with a sodding great metal plate on the front andis mainlyused with Blues music. My hero Ray Baker (Ray and i are the famous Amnesia Brothers) put me on to them and I love it.
I have started recording album 4. This will be an acoustic (ish) album and I have about 6 songs written.
Sam turned two a couple of weeks ago and continues to be the absolute light of my life. It feels like every day he learns 10 new words and finds another way to make me believethat despite the appearance, this world is a place of beauty and wonder.
May you fall asleep beside the one you love tonight...
Peace Dave

After a long time and some serious, and not so serious delays, Hard Road Home is now available. Details of how and where to get a copy will be out in the next few days, but its out there.
A new website is being built and will launch very soon...I am also close to launching the album with a live band and some performances so its nerves time. I haven't played my own stuff live since 2001.
Stay tuned for the detail...
Dave

Current mood: pensive
Lately there have been ghosts. I am not entirely sure why, but they have been hangin' around, like a good song.
Some have been bright, the form of a lover past, the sound of a voice as soft as honey and hard to forget. You were there, different, older, your voice longer with a drawl. Gone was the feeling that once was there between us...but the smile remained. A summer smile, a short summer dress smile that I remember well. Yeah you were there, wondering where the time had gone, and me, my hair cut short and my voice and guitar playing stronger, I was much more comfortable in my skin than when last we met.
Others have been harder to pin down. Lurking in shadows of years and days. Laying between the notes. and You, you are there, underlying all that I do, forming and reforming with a smile and a long languid arm. Still you touch me. So many years ago. When I was young and thought the best way to love was openly. There are times to be closed. but you do still make me smile and despite the falling down of time, and despite the yardstick you turned out to be, despite the differences of rememberance, in your way, you still haunt me....

Well...Hello...
I have (with excitement and a touch of nervousness) uploaded four tracks from the forthcoming album Hard Road Home. The album is truly finished and will be out in February sometime. The music is stronger, the cover is a huge departure to what I have done before, everything is changing, like autumn, like love, like music.
The album is dedicated to my beautiful son Sam, who was born during it's creation. Everyday is something new.
I hope you enjoy,
Dave

I am proud, relieved, excited and exubriently happy to announce that my third album is so close to finished and ready to be packaged that I can taste it. Bruce and I are merely arguing over which font to use on the cover shot...once that is resolved it will be printed, the discs duped and ready to go.
Hard Road Home is the end of two and a bit years of recording, mixing, rerecording, remixing, mastering, rerecording, remixing and remastering. It is the best "sounding" album to date and in my opinion (expectedly) the strongest of all three albums so far. I simply cannot wait for you guys to hear it.
So the next steps are to get the thing packaged and selling through internet and record stores...rehearse the band (sooner rather than later because there are rumblings of a gig)...I hope to do band gigs and a few acoustic gigs. I am pretty keen to play some of the One Degree Of Separation stuff live since I have never played anything from that album live...
In true restless style I have started recording the next album...It (in theory) should be an acoustic affair with blues and country tinges to it...but I have a feeling that it might get a bit bigger than that. For the first time Bruce won't engineer it. We both discussed the idea of tracking this one without Bruces input for the challenge for me to do more of the production and the challenge for Bruce to mix and master a group of songs hehas never heard before. It's an interesting experiment. It will feature a new bunch of muso's and a different approach to the writing and recording.
So stay tuned to my MySpace site for new tracks, new artwork, new (and more regular) blogs and also for the first sign of the new website...
Muchas Gracias Dave

Current mood: happy
Hi there, Over the last month I have been going through old recorded material (there is quite a bit), live recordings, old demo's, outtakes from albums and newer songs. It has been a blast and I have decided to start sharing some of it. I have uploaded to my page at Podcast Music Network two unreleased tracks. There is a live recording of Butterfly In A Hurricane and a new song called Last Of The Love Songs.
I would love to know what you think of them All the best dave
