I posted an article the other day on 5 Corporate Podcasting Mistakes to Avoid.  It got listed on Digg and caused a bit of a fury because I used a computer "nerd" stereotype in the article.

You can read about it here, where I defend myself (as much as possible - the Diggers are tough!)

The real beauty of this is the confirmation message that our system sends.  It's got a viral element to it that I'm willing to bet has never been tried with opt-in lists EVER BEFORE.

Go ahead, sign up.  I dare you!

You don't have to limit yourself to modeling just the greats in your own field. Expand your horizons. Look to greats in any field for insight and inspiration.

I happen to be a fan of up-and-coming sport "mixed martial arts." What does it have to do with my profession? Absolutely nothing! But that doesn't mean there isn't something to learn from the sport.

I recently watched a grudge match between two old greats of the sport - Don "The Predator" Frye and Ken "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Shamrock. It was an amazing bout.

Shamrock actually broke Frye's ancle in the first round of a scheduled three-round match. Frye didn't so much a wince. He stayed calm, cool and collected. In fact, he ended up winning the match.

His secret? "Never give up."

We've all heard it a thousand times, but to see someone actually LIVE those words is inspiring. If "The Predator" doesn't let a little thing like a broken ankle slow him down, then what excuse do I have for ever giving up?

Well, Lizzie and I finally got to go on a much-deserved honeymoon.  We   just got back last night.  The weather was great and the setting was beautiful.    A couple things to think about if you are planning a trip to Cancun:

  1. Don't go for the food.  It's kind of strange to the American taste     buds.
  2.
  3. Don't let a taxi driver talk you in to a $40 cab ride from the airport to     the hotel.  Cab ride should be $20.  Shuttle should be $9 but will     take a little longer.  Stand your ground!
  4.
  5. Don't worry about speaking spanish.  Basically everyone there speaks     both spanish and english.

I just set up my first squidoo "lens" called Best Online Business Intelligence Resources.  It references all the books, websites, blogs and podcasts that I have relied on to help me make my first million.

I thought you guys might enjoy it.  Check it out often as I plan to keep adding to it.

Thanks!

Here in Indianapolis we have an influx of major sporting goods stores.  In fact, Galyans, which was the locally-based giant was bought out by Dick's Sporting Goods.  Now there are several massive Dick's stores throughout the city.

Many small sport shops have long since died off here in Indianapolis, but one little local store has built an army of loyal customers that would NEVER think of buying running shoes at Galyan's, Dick's or anywhere else.  The Running Company has built a legendary reputation on incredible customer service.

We interviewed Andrea Johnson, the owner of The Running Company, to find out their secret.  The latest Promethius Consulting podcast tells their story.  It's pretty inspiring.

What could we all acheive in our careers if we had incredible customer service?

Have a great one!

I just started using Zoho CRMthe other day to track interactions with all my customers.  So far it's been pretty great.  It is entirely web-based, and it's free for up to three users.

I'm still holding my breath to see if they eventually ding me with some type of hosting fee.  Data imports/exports from other programs like Exchange are a snap.  Very nicely done!

Web 2.0 rocks!!!  Speaking of rocking, check out our small business insider podcast.
