hey guys,

i can finally announce some the rad things that we've been up to. we have contributed a previously unreleased track for an upcoming benefit compilation called "protect 2".  what does this comp benefit? all proceeds go to the national associate to protect children, an organization that protects children from abuse, neglect and exploitation. this is a great cause and many awesome bands support them, such as anti-flag & against me who have given tracks to the first protect comp. we are excited to be apart of such a worthwhile cause with so many awesome people backing it. for more details check out the gc records website HERE.  you can also check out the the album cover here:

the rad cover art was done by the amazing and very talented keith rosson. we'll keep you guys updated with more information as the release date draws closer!

many of you guys have requested that we have some intro5pect vinyl. you guys can now get your hands on the intro5pect education 7" that was released 10 years ago! it was one of the very first intro5pect releases and it's now available directly from us HERE... these 7 inches came out before our debut on a-f records and are from the original first run we did 10 long years ago. we hope this will be the first of many vinyl releases that will be available to you guys.

and just a quick writing update, the writing process for the full length has been going very well. we're looking at finishing up some more lyrics & vocals this week... can't wait for you guys to hear it! we're hoping to get the great majority of this record done by the end of this year.

keep checking back as we'll have more exciting news coming up soon!

hi!

i know there hasn't been anything super exciting recently, but we've been working on some upcoming awesome. (the best kind of upcoming) we will have some exciting newness to announce shortly which is quite excellent. it's another way to thank you guys for waiting so patiently for the full length while supporting a good cause.

as for the full length/future tours, we've been having a blast trying to figure out new and interesting ways to utilize our electronics live. suffice it to say, if everything goes as planned, next time we head out on tour our live show is going to be brand new! we've been looking at everything from classic video game controllers, to bizarre instruments to yes, even building our own equipment to make it happen live. stoked! i promise, we wont be lame and just hit "play" on a cd player like many other electronic bands do live. we'll actually play around with some fun shit!

we're also looking forward to checking out citizen fish & star fucking hipsters when they come through on tour. you guys should go check it out! it will be a hell of a show. speaking of our dear friends in citizen fish, many of you will remember that a year ago we did a tour with them. they were filming a behind the scenes/life on the road dvd at the time and it's recently come out! we make a cameo along with some of (y)our favorites like leftover crack, the subhumans and mdc. here's a preview:

also, in totally unrelated news. i got a kitten! see?

she's named zoey (yes, after zoey from left 4 dead). now i have two cats...my inner cat lady is pleased! also, you should not be surprised about cat related posts here. we are after all a 3/5 cat person band. remember this from a previous tour?

well that's what's going on in our world for now. more news soon!

Current mood:  sassy
Hey everyone.  Well, it's been a very big week in politics...

This morning Ron Paul had a hearing for his bill HR 1207, which essentially is to audit the FED, in congress with a representative from the Federal Reserve...  What do you guys think about it?  As much as I'd like to see the FED audited and believe it shouldn't exist to begin with, I fear that all of this red tape is being allowed through by a much more sinister agenda.  I think that auditing the FED will essentially destroy the US Dollar, leading to total chaos in America and eventually a stronger police state and loss of civil liberties.  Now I am definitely for either seizing control of the FED, so at least we can hold our government accountable for it's actions, or in a better scenario getting rid of it all together.  I just worry that if it does get absorbed or removed it will not be to benefit us, it will be to benefit the same people that have benefiting from it from day 1.  I'd like to see a scenario where there was no central bank and maybe even some sort of "start over" period for the US Economy to even the playing field a little bit.  Of course, that would be a very rough period of chaos, pain, terror, and hard times for the middle and lower classes so it's hard to wish that in a way.

Also, the G20 is meeting in Pittsburgh.  Chaos broke out and the military was in full force.  There are 2 important themes here...

The first is the fact that it's acceptable to have an armed military force in civilian situations.  They have no business there and it's just conditioning the public for a full blown police state.  It's unnaceptable that we sit by and let the military police the public.  Regardless the circumstances there is no war going on in America so the military needs to stay off the streets.  Thanks to things like this cops are walking around with fully automatic weapons.  HAVING THE MILITARY POLICE YOU IS MARTIAL LAW.  Even at a G20 conference.

Secondly, at the G20 Barak Obama chaired the meeting and, of course, it ended up having a very bad theme.  We took 1 step closer to having no say whatsoever yesterday when the G20 decided they would just regulate the global economy from now on.  They will decide how the world will handle this "crisis" and the other 6 billion people on Earth don't have to worry about anything because they will do what is in our best interest.  My eyes are wide fucking open to Obama and his agenda and everyone would be better off to stop playing the "us vs. them" bipartisan game and look and see what is really going on.  The only Us vs Them is The Educated People of the World vs Those Who Want to Control Us.

Anyway, what do all of you guys think about all of this?

I other news, we are working hard on the new album.  I'm recording bass lines and vocals this weekend and we are on a good pace so far.  I can't wait for it to be done.  Anyway, take care everyone and whatever you do, don't get the Swine Flu Vaccination.

hey guys,

we've currently been in full on-writing/practicing/revamping mode for next year's craziness. what does that entail? well, for one we've been trying to figure out what we can do for our live show to make it really memorable. a lot of people miss some of the craziness that we see while up on stage and we are working on more fun and interesting ways to utilize all of our samples and electronics. dave and i are meeting to work out some possibilities for these. we'll definitely post some pictures from that so you can get a better idea of what we're talking about.

we're also getting some more reviews in for record profits. the newest one is from alternative press pretty exciting stuff!

also, if you have yet to get your hands on the new record you can get it HERE.

we're also working on getting a streetteam together and building up a nice forum section and everything on our website so you guys can relate to us more directly. we eventually want to have contests, flyers and everything up on that site so we can relate to YOU more directly as well. we are also getting our own webstore going so it'll be easier to order directly from the band. we'll be adding new merch soon including some *gasp* vinyl! more details to follow.

and since we've been looking around for some interesting and unique midi controllers it's time for some electronic geekery....

have you guys heard of the haken continuum fingerboard? it sounds pretty amazing, right? like it could cure cancer, make women fall in love with you and potentially turn you into a science fiction super hero simply by owning it. well, i gotta say that i was kind of disappointed by what i've researched on it so far. firstly, it looks like something that might belong with your grandma's sewing set. it doesn't really have anything crazy cool and sci-fi looking about it. see? (it's the red & black thing btw)

the demo from NAMM 07 wasn't helping the continuum fingerboard either:NAMM DEMO

firstly they have a super boring guy talking about it. secondly, they have the lamest sound ever for the demo. i mean seriously. it sounds like something that would come out of kenny g's sax. and then the music demo at the end? wow. yawntastic. i just don't see myself rocking one of these undoubtedly overpriced bad boys live.

have you guys heard of or seen any really cool electronic instruments? if so let us know! we'd love to check them out....

sara

hey guys,

in the spirit of all of this recent "newness" check out a feature that the lovely people at indiepit did on us. you can check it out here. thanks again to kurt from indiepit for being so cool to interview with.

i know it's been a while since i've done a blog that really gets a chance to hear what you guys think. recently i've just been blogging about new records/tours/etc stuff. but i wanted to get back to some of our better political blogs.

what are your thoughts on this whole health care debate that's going on? how do you guys feel about universal health care? i know this has been a big issue recently, but i wanted to see what you guys thought about it.

i personally see that we have a broken system. it is appalling to me that there are MILLIONS of our own brothers and sisters that do not have health insurance. these people cannot even hope to manage the astronomical costs of procedures, hospital stays, visits and even medication without health insurance. have you guys seen that walmart commerical with that elderly black lady on it who talks about how she can't afford her prescription? (the whole walmart issue aside...) that commercial breaks my heart. how is it that in our nation, with our standard of living, we have countless numbers of people that cannot even afford access to health care which should be a basic necessity after food, water and shelter?! have you guys heard about this genetic testing that they have for cancer? did you know that if you test positive for the gene for certain types of cancer it will adversely affect your eligibility for health insurance? your ability to gain access to health care is not based on any current illnesses you HAVE but on a disease that you COULD get in the FUTURE. and to top it all off, your fate is decided by a MAJOR FACELESS CORPORATION! does this not enrage you guys as well? shame on us, we let profit stand in the way of our own health and well being. i feel that it is one of our nation's greatest downfalls. but enough about my ranting, let us know your thoughts and we'll be responding in comments as well.

love & respect,
sara

hey guys!

record profits is out today! head over to gc records to get your own copy of record profits! this past week dave and i have been busy doing interviews and they're now starting to roll back in.  check out some of the interviews we did. they'll give you some (what we hope are) interesting insights into the band, the record and politics!

here's an interview we did with punk cd sampler. it's our second interview with them and these guys are great. we discussed everything from album artwork, to my bad stza impression to our bass player's ass:

http://www.punkcdsampler.com/intro5pect-august.html

we also did an interview with verbicide magazine. these guys have been huge supporters of us! check em out! this interview talks about the differences in the punk community between england and the uk, what life is like for a punk band in traditionally conservative orange county and more....

http://www.verbicidemagazine.com/?p=3231

we hope you enjoy those interviews! thanks again to everyone for your support, and keep your ear to the ground for more news coming from us soon.....

hey guys,

i hope you are enjoying the new track, 'sound is the enemy'. we had a blast recording this song... literally! can you guys hear the chopped up explosion? out of sheer genius (or most likely boredom) dave took an explosion from a major movie and chopped it up and voila! now the song packs a punch ;)

as many of you know, tomorrow is the big day for intro5pect: record profits comes out! this past year was one of the hardest for intro5pect. the year was fraught with band-related setbacks, a line up change and difficult personal struggles like family illness have kept us back this past year. this record is the start of a fantastic year for us which ultimately means a show-filled-intro5pect-lovin-year for you guys ;) and to help bring in the excitement for the new album, i thought i'd include some pictures....

the following pictures are of us rehearsing the new songs last weekend. rehearsing?!?!?!? for what?!?!?!? ah the suspense!!!!

enjoy! :D

donny at practice... and yes it was like 90 degrees in our practice space

dave: why is it so hooooot?!

landon singing and wailing!

chris 'the siren' mann

trapped by electronics

we only have mirrors in our practice space so donny can enjoy dave's superior posterior! (also, it makes dave feel like he has more soda "buckets")

landon learns those lyrics quick!

remember.....record profits comes out tomorrow!

check out the review of our previous record "Realpolitik!" that punknews.org just posted today:

The first track on Intro5pect’s Realpolitik! hits the ground running with double-bass drums and distortion followed by a dive right into the Stza-led chorus railing against “la migra,” A.K.A. the U.S. immigration border police viewed by many to be the hands-on oppressors of illegal aliens crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

This 2007 EP came four years after Intro5pect’s debut full-length from A-F Records. With such a long wait between releases, it’s a shame that this EP is 12 minutes shorter than their previous endeavor. Regardless, this package has some solid tunes to be heard. Intro5pect’s reputation of mixing A-F brand punk rock with electronica and synth is by now widely known in the punk community and also widely loved. Since their first full-length, the band has developed quite a following. I had hoped for a few imitation bands to pop up by now, but I’ve yet to come across any that do it well.

As I noted earlier, Intro5pect’s lead vocalist steps aside in a few tracks on this release, making way for Leftover Crack frontman Stza to fill the void with his usual rants against cops, religion and other socio-political units that serve to give a band such as this topics to write about. Typicality aside, the lyrics meet the above-average standard set by their earlier full-length, and Intro5pect mostly succeeds in presenting their side of each issue intelligently in the two or three minutes it takes to complete a song.

After the first song on the album ends with a catchy anti-border gang chant, the second track, "Oppressing You" describes the frightening terror that is a technology-fueled totalitarian state -- á la the government from 1984 -- but one with greater and more infiltrating surveillance techniques. The punk rock here shines through here despite the bleak subject matter and is overlapped with an electronic piano beat. The song ends with a robo voice repeating, “Oppressing you, oppressing me, the bane is called technology, no one is free, thought crimes a sin, with chips that slip beneath your skin, bar codes tattooed behind your eyes, all seeing cameras in the skies, upgraded forms of mind control, upgraded life, downloaded soul.” Hopefully the world’s actual future is brighter than this.

The next three songs on the album pale in comparison to the energy found in the first two. "Crooked Lies" is a generic atheist anthem that lacks a fresh take on the subject and lacks the musical appeal found in the rest of the album. Track 4 brings back the fun by opening with a jolt of Nintendo-esque madness in what sounds like the 8-bit soundtrack from Castlevania II jumping around on crack. Track 5 sounds like track 4, except even faster.

The album closes with a cover of Leftover Crack's "Nazi White Trash" (again, with Stza leading the vocals), and I think an argument can be made that this version, while not substantially different from the original, is the superior version. The last track is one hell of a closer, pumping probably the catchiest chorus of the album in what is another anti-civilization (A.K.A. anti-capitalism) song.

Overall, this is another solid effort from the only band that blends punk rock and electronica in a masterful way, but this isn’t the near-classic album that was their 2004 release. Here’s hoping that Intro5pect’s 2009 EP is more on par with their earlier material than their later.

sweet! a castlevania II reference! that's awesome!
