STICKER RELEASE PARTY – LIVE AT PUBLIC ASSEMBLY, DECEMBER 9TH!
Okay, okay, so it's not that big a deal that we have some new stickers to sell, but we don't have a new record finished or anything, and this book that I'm reading on show promotion says that I should be pushing each performance as something unique and life-changing, so "sticker release party" is what we're going with. Sorry.
But for real, we're very excited about our first show in Brooklyn. We wanted to play this space back when it was Galapagos, and apparently the new sound system they installed is incredible. The rest of the bands are all really exciting, and we're getting a for-real sound check, so we should be able to put on a better show than ever. Bring your friends, have a couple drinks, and hang out. It will be fun.
Here's the story:
- What – The Qualia, live! This our first show in Brooklyn, ever.
- Where – Public Assembly, 70 North 6th Street, Brooklyn (it's like, a block away from the Bedford Ave stop on the L train)
- When – Tuesday, December 9th, 10 p.m.
- Cost – 8 dollars at the door.
Come on out!

We've booked our first live performance, at New York's very own Crash Mansion on October 11 at 9:30. If you can come out, you should. It will be fun. Promise.

Hey guys,
I've got some points to make. Behold:
1) There's a new interview up at ReGen Magazine. Check it out.
2) The photoblog project is continuing on excellently.
3) We're constantly working on new music, and should have some cool stuff to share soon.
4) We're continuing to work on the live show, along with Chvad SB from Things Outside the Skin, which is going to be absolutely great. I promise.

If you noticed the weird posts that have been here for the past week, here's an explanation. I've started doing a daily blog over at vox.com, and put the first few posts here just for a demonstration. This myspace blog is going to continue to serve mostly for announcements and news. For a more personal thing, head over to the new photoblog.

I heard "The Tracks of My Tears" on the radio yesterday. I reacted differently this time. I got the impression that throughout it, the singer is lying. That the new girl he's with is a "substitute," comes off as a blatant and sadistic lie. And the suggestion that his "smile looks out of place" just seems like he's teasing her about how happy he is - not to mention that tears don't actually leave tracks.

It's a beautiful day today, and I'm sitting inside feeling bad. I've been called stoic before, and it pisses me off. Just because I have priorities and believe in what I'm doing, that doesn't mean I'm disconnected. It's just that I choose to apply what I'm feeling to something worthwhile, rather than letting it ambush me and leave me twitching on the floor, which is probably what would happen otherwise. -L. music is herewebsite is here

I'm meeting a friend of mine that I haven't seen for a long time tonight. I'm terrible in situations like this. Late one winter I had a conversation on the phone with somebody who I hadn't talked to since the summer before. After what I thought had been a pleasant talk, he just said "why did I even call you at all?" and I, not getting that it wasn't a joke, just said "I have no idea." Then he hung up. That was the last time I ever talked to him. - L. music is here website is here

When I lived in Queens, I had the sense of L.I.C. as this sort of under-developed, low-key place, with the mixed industrial/residential sort of zoning that defines a place like Williamsburg without the aggressive fashion and smarm. Of course, you can't see that from Manhattan. All you see are the highrises under construction. From where I'm standing now, it looks like a goddamn beach resort.

I was drinking cheap red wine with friends last night. The phrase "nuclear option" was said several times throughout the evening in the context of everyday issues. Like the reaction I'd have if one particularly loathsome guy were to start a relationship with an ex-girlfriend, for instance. I'm just trying to stay ahead of the curve, and you should, too. Just wait. Cold War rhetoric is soon going to come back in style, and we'll be ready to use it fully, without missing a beat.
