Hi folks, Just a quick word to let you know that footage of the Blackdot benifit show are now up on youtube. The Blackdot was a d.i.y. concert venue that was shut down by the city of Montreal, leaving the organizers with massive debt incurred by recent renovations and lease payment obligations. A bunch of Montreal musicians got together to play a show at Katacombes to help raise money. The theme was cover bands, so along with tributes to Black Flag, Ramones and the like, I did a set of Billy Bragg covers. Three of the songs from that set are online now, you can watch them here: http://www.youtube.com/user/malcolmbauld Thanks to Jen, Chris and Justin for the footage. Hope you enjoy it! thanks, Malcolm.

Hello! I'm very excited to be back on the road this fall, starting off with some dates with my two favorite Canadian bands: Statues (Sudbury) and Horses (Toronto)!! We'll be heading East from Ottawa, out to Halifax for the Pop Explosion, then back to Montreal for an All Ages house show. There will also be stops in Montcon and Rimouski, so if you're in any of those towns please stop by and say hello. Please check the show listing for details. I'll also be heading to Europe for some shows during the first three weeks of November. We're still trying to fill in a few dates, so if you are booking shows in Europe please get in touch. I'll also be in Northeastern USA during the first two weeks of December. There is now a facebook fanpage if you'd like to join up. Please go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Malcolm-Bauld/7380279705?ref=ts See you on tour! thanks, Malcolm.

Ah Montreal in the Spring. Nothing like leaving March's tukes, parkas, darkness, isolation and never ending roadwork construction behind to return to May's blue skies, bikes, bbqs, t-shirts, sunglasses and...uhm... more construction?
As usual, coming back from tour means a big thank you list, apologies to anyone I've left out.
First of all, Alex from Art of the Underground, for making the treck to Toronto, sending off all those packages and Jaime Forsythe for letting us take over her living room to do it. My Western Canadian leg companions Horses. Lachie, Glenn, Nathan and Mark: Poutine Cannons, Barrington lounge, shirts off saturdays, "I'm nine", Buried Inside through the Rockies, that's what she said. The van will never smell the same again. Keebler and Jonathan for the amp loans (you saved my ass) and Jared for the publicity help. Grant Lawrence@CBC, Keith Hamilton + Pitter Patter Nights, Paul's Boutique in Toronto for the speedy repair, Brodie@Casbah, Myths+Mirrors, Statues+family, Sheila+Tina@The Apollo, Jack@Lo Pub, Ashley Bonar, Maria (hope you find your phone!) Jo Synder, Brent+Velvet Underground, Breakfast TV, Susan,Mike and the kids, Tony@Downtsream, Penny (how was Mexico?), Donna@Voodoo's, Shawn+Lisa in Kelowna (see you in August!), Mihkel+Logan's, Dad (for putting us up on your own, and for coming to the show) MJ+The Astoria, TK and amazing Indian food, who could ask for more? Thomas+The Ottoman, Spencer+ The Palimino, Echo Base!, O'Hanlons, Carpenter (Hurts So Good!), Gmac for breakfast (sneaky), Half Mast, Matt and all at the Larch Street house (one of the best shows of tour, thank you!) Jim+Orphan Choir, Tom@The Phog, Tody+Starla, and The Trepid House (all bands should play there!). My Eastern leg companions The Details who not only let me ride in their sweet van, but half the band learnt my whole album as we went, no small feat. Keli, Shaun, Sean and Jon: phone sabotage, scottish accents, impossible Fredericton laughter containment, triple encores!, text your requests. Hugo Mudie for all the booking help. To wonderful tour manager Liv Lunde; a real ray of light if there ever was one. Too soon? Drummondville construction treacherousness peanut butter and travel scrabble. Best of luck up North. Karl+GetARoom, Louis+Looba Cafe, Nico! Sean+Ryan, Zach@NickofTime, all at Telephone Rouge, Le Divan Orange, blueskiesturnblack, Guillaume, Bang Bang!, Olivier Lalande, Olivier Robillard, Steve Guimond, Ryan Batistuzzi, Abigail Lapell, Will, Keli, Shaun, Josiane Rouette and Kristina Korepecki. And finally to everyone who came out to the 'Covered In Dust' album launch. That was a really special night for me and made all the ups and downs of the tour worth it. Thank you. There are many plans for more action in the Fall. I'll keep you posted. Malcolm. RoadDoesNotEnd

Okay, so it was only five days, but there are still lots of people to thank. First and foremost my tour mates: Kristina Korepecki for the wonderful cello playing and Liv "Surprise, it's gross!" Lunde for TM (Tour managing... total money... text messaging... titty monster?) Josiane Rouette for coming out and playing trumpet at the Montreal show. The wonderful Winnipegers The Details, who are so amazingly tight and have such great songs, it was a pleasure to get to play not once, but twice with them... tour this spring? The Reverb Syndicate and My Dad vs. Yours for letting me jump on their show, everyone who came out to the show in Rimouski (that was a show I will remember for a very long time!), Tim Barry and Josh Small who were so accomodating and play with an incredible amount of heart. Toronto, wow. I can't remember the last time so many old friends and tour mates were gathered in one place together. Needless to say there were lots of photos taken that night and I'll try and put them up soon. As usual, Keith Hamilton is the man. How many concert promoters do you know that organize the show, handle publicity, soundcheck and mix all the bands AND change broken strings mid set?? All the promoters: Karl/Yannick@L'Agite, Hugo@Preste, The Black Sheep Inn, Nico@Bar au Lau, Keith@The Boat, and Deep Sam@Divan Orange. Haig at Garage Alik for the van repairs. I suppose that's it, time to make a record!! See you in the spring. Malcolm.

Hi folks, Figure it's been a while since I updated this so here's what's been going on... On April 16th my van got broken into and my electic piano was stolen. I'll save you all the boring details but I just wanted to write a list of people that have helped me out since the robbery. Thanks to their generosity I've been able to repair the damage to the van and replace the piano...
Chris Snelgrove, Jonah Aspler, Thibault Du Chene, Lucas Rupnik, Martin Dansky, Val and Henry Bauld, Hugo Mudie, Louis Valiquette, Pablo Boerr, Ryan Battistuzzi, Fred Jaques, Rich Buthillier, Sarah Legris and Tobi Lamontagne. Brendan Murphy from The Hour for covering the robbery and to Yannick Grandmont for taking the photos.
On the upside this month I've finally started work on my debut full length cd which is scheduled for release early this fall. I'll keep you posted as the details come together.
Meanwhile enjoy the spring...
Thanks, Malcolm.

I wanted to write about Dave Wenger, a friend with whom I shared a great deal as a teenager growing up in Victoria, B.C. He passed away in the early hours of Nov. 23rd after being the victim of a hit and run on Blvd. St-Laurent in Montreal. Dave was the most talented musician that I knew in highschool and influenced (directly and indirectly) the music I wound up making in Sissy Havoc and The Frenetics. Dave's musical style continued to evolve from the punk bands he was in during his late teens and early twenties (M Blanket, Breakwater, Ache Hour Credo) into the more recent (and often hard to catagorize) Daddy's Hands. Here is a link that features some Daddy's Hands songs and a couple of pictures of Dave: http://www.popsheep.com (I believe this will only be up for a couple of weeks, so you may have to scoll down to search for the Daddy's Hands post.)
