This is a question time and again I ask myself. Everyone always
compliments or speaks about someone's "style", but really, what makes
up a style?
Like, what makes your art appeal so
"awesome" and
"spectacular", "the best of em all" and
"really not diggin'"?
Reason
I'm asking this is because, I personally, think my style sucks, but
that's just a personal aesthetic I have with myself, even though when
folks consider it otherwise. Now I'm not turning this into some sob-emo
rant, 'cuz I'm confident and content with my work, but just a question.
We all can ask a question, can we?

Professionals
may not give your work the time of day, even though your work can be
quite stellar. It seems nowadays, you have to be part of a clique ( a
very HUGE Professional clique) to be told and be highly regarded by
your work being awesome! There are also tons of folks who spend time
and blood and sweat and tears making art that is anatomically correct,
follows color theory guidelines, composition in tact, and everything
else stellar; while "Joe Pro" over there made a simple drawing, while
being anatomically incorrect, with no heart and soul in it, and yet,
they'll get showered with heartening expressions and love.
Then
that's where the style comment is being introduced. Do folks with a
professional "style" just have a good style, or are they just being
told that 'cuz of who they roll wit'? And I use professional out of
context of the actual meaning. Because honestly, I see that word and I
think of "one big team of high school jocks who gets all the girls and
all the recognition while the honor societies and chess teams are
looked upon as 'NOBODIES' ". It's a staple that pretty much reaches all
departments- at work, between the family, and once again, with art.
So
to bring this to a close, do you think your artwork has a style that
can move mountains, even though it's not a "professional" style, with
your choice of anatomy direction and color choices and "professionally
judged" weird compositions ?
But in all reality, this makes me even more pumped to do
what the F I want to.
