Hey all!!! Just wanted to tell everybody that our photo blogs will start up again though there's gonna be a few changes. We're gonna use a "Grab Bag Photo Blog" format instead of the one show per blog format as before. With this new format, each "Grab Bag Photo Blog" will have photos from multiple shows and other photos that we think might be of interest. Expect Volume 1 of the "Grab Bag Photo Blog" to appear soon!!!
See ya at the shows!!
Cheers!!!

Such a sad day, we just learned of the passing of the Queen of the Blues, Koko Taylor. Jeri Verdi had the pleasure of opening for Koko Taylor and for being asked to join her on stage a number of times. Koko and Jeri did a few songs, among them, Koko's signature song "Wang Dang Doodle". She was so generous with the spotlight and her voice was amazing - when Koko sang, you could feel the concrete moving! She was a huge inspiration and friend. Rest in Peace, Koko Taylor, The Queen of the Blues.

Alright, we're catching up on bloggin' and sharing photos with you all. It's been over a month since we've posted any photos from our shows, so so this will be our first photos from shows from 2009!!! Here we go. The first batch - Jeri & The Jeepsters' at their first show at the ALL NEW Sticks Tavern!

Shaking off the cold (and yet another snowy evening, argh!) to HEAT things up for the first time at Sticks - and we had the honor of being only the second band to perform here! We got to help break the place in! How cool is that!? The Jeepsters served up an explosion of energy inspired by some new faces. And it was awesome to see old friends from many years of playing Gloucester, Chepachet, and Smithfield clubs. We luv ya! Jeri Verdi kicked off the evening with her solo set with a whole bunch of originals and covers by Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks, Black Crowes, and Small Faces. After riling up the crowd, The Jeepsters then took the stage to peel the fresh paint off of the walls brutally sqeezing every drop from the inherent dynamics of each song. Some faves like Irma Franklin's "Piece of My Heart" to the Little Richard/Slade boogaloo "Get Down With It". The dance floor was packed and let's say "steamy" when the Jeepsters took it to another level with the Kiss song "I Was Made For Lovin You". Thanx guys, seems like you guys had as much fun as we did!. BTW, Sticks has some VERY cool bartendresses!! We'll be back for more!!! Be There!!!!

Okay, just a little bit of business, we are aware that not everyone has a MySpace or Facebook account. For this reason, we would like anybody interested in getting the latest info on Jeri & The Jeepsters to join our email list (I know, so last century!). You can sign up for our email list at a show or flip back to the main page of our MySpace and look for the email window. We'll put you right on our list!!!

Here's where Jeri & The Jeepsters are playing next!!!

Alright, we're catching up on bloggin' and sharing photos with you all. It's been over a month since we've posted any photos from our shows, so so this will be our 2008 round up - here we go. Okay, the first batch - Jeri & The Jeepsters' Christmas and New Year's shows at The 133 Club.

Jeri & The Jeepsters Christmas show at The 133 Club (12/20/08) was a joy to play. With Jeri Verdi starting things off first with a solo set of originals and covers, it was apropos, with the snow that had fallen earlier that day, for Jeri to dedicate T. Rex's "The Slider" to all of you rock and roll fans that weren't going to let a few snow flakes stand in your way and you guys came out and to BOOGIE and PACKED the place!!! The Jeepsters warmed you guys up with some rock and roll ("Run, Rudolph, Run", "Merry Christmas, Baby", "Blue Chistmas", "Feliz Navidad", etc) and, of course, some holiday cheer in the form of libations helped, too. See if you find yourselves in the photos below.

Speaking of libations, damn, was New Year's Eve (12/31/08) at The 133 Club fun or what? The Jeepsters brought in the New Year with new and old friends with a Champagne Toast at midnight with the Jeepsters playing a rockin' version of "Auld Lang Syng" then right into The Jeepsters' version of the Slade classic "Cum On Feel The Noize" - a version with Jeri Verdi on vocals that would have made Noddy Holder proud. There were lots of New Year's kisses starting at midnight that never seem to last all the way till closing!!! And, remember, this was yet another snowy night and the snow did not stop you guys from coming out - yet again! The place was PACKED!!! A wonderful way to ring in the New Year!!! See if you find yourselves in the photos below.

- THIS Saturday, January 31st, The 133 Club, 29 Warren Ave, East Providence, RI 401-438-1330 with Jeri & The Jeepsters tearin’ it up all night and just one minute from Providence!!! FREE SHOW!!! NO COVER!!!

- THEN Saturday, February 14th! Valentines Day!!! Mark your calendars!!! Bovi's Tavern, 278 Taunton Ave, East Providence, RI 401-434-9670, with Jeri & The Jeepsters tearin’ it up all night and just one minute from Providence!!! FREE SHOW!!! NO COVER!!!

What a wonderful time Jeri Verdi & Her Heavy Friend's show was at Eddie's 529 Club last night (12/12/08). The night started off with a beautiful Full Moon over head and just got better and better. It was great to see all of you last night. Many familiar faces and friends, some new faces, and even some Jeri & The Jeepsters friends coming out to see The Heavy Friends for their first time! You guys filled Eddie's with a joyful feeling that can clearly be seen on the faces of everybody in the photos below. Truly, what this Season is all about! With the Yule Log burning brightly all night behind us - on the television right behind Philo, The Heavy Friends crackled all night with a dash of holiday songs and a HEAVY dollop of ass-kicking (sometimes both at the same time!). And what a line up we had for you on this night! On Gretsch geeeetar was Dave "Lucky" Richardson (sporting a shirt that said "Lucky" on it, hence the nickname), on bass playing through a 60's vintage Vox Super Beatle amp and vocals and getting airborne at some points was Philo Phuzz (sporting his Bettie Page T-shirt in tribute to the 50's pin-up vixen and her passing on Thursday - glad that there were many Bettie lovers there last night), on drums and vocals was Phil Hicks, and of course on vocals and geeetar was the incredible Jeri Verdi!!! Jeri Verdi started the music off with a solo set with her playing a massive amount of her original songs - many that will be on her next CD and many from her first CD and some covers! Some titles include: "In Memphis", "The Perfect Shade of Green", "Sad Girl", "Never Back There", "Johnnie Walker", "Mainline", "Pearl", "Blue Lady", The Rolling Stones' song "You Got The Silver", Lou Reed's "Satellite of Love", and a very special version of "Blue Christmas" featuring a duet with Jeri and her father Lou Verdi sitting in on vocals! Some of the highlights of Jeri Veri & Her Heavy Friends' sets included: Small Faces twofer of "Itchycoo Park" and "Watcha Gonna Do About It", Hüsker Dü's "Diane", The Beatles "All I Gotta Do", T. Rex's "Children of the Revolution", Iggy Pop twofer of "Candy" and "I Wanna Be Your Dog", Paul Revere & The Raiders' "Hungry", Betty Everett's "You're No Good", Mike Nesmith's "Different Drum", Mott The Hoople's "One of the Boys", the Velvet Underground's "Waiting For My Man", some Rolling Stones' songs including "Sympathy For The Devil", "Gimme Shelter", "The Last Time", CCR's "Born On The Bayou", Chuck Berry's "Run, Rudolph, Run", Otis Redding's "Merry Christmas Baby", and many others! Again, it was a truly wonderful night! Many photos from last night are below, see if you can find yourself in them acting silly with us on our breaks. All photos are also located in our MySpace Photos Section. Check them out there and leave a comment!!! We'd love to hear from you! Photos by Harry Lime.

Pinup queen Bettie Page dead at 85

7:03 PM, December 11, 2008

Bettie Page, the brunet pinup queen with a shoulder-length pageboy hairdo and kitschy bangs whose saucy photos helped usher in the sexual revolution of the 1960s, has died. She was 85.

Page, whose later life was marked by depression, violent mood swings and several years in a state mental institution, died at a Los Angeles hospital where she had been on life support since she had a heart attack on Dec. 2, according to her agent, Mark Roesler. A cult-culture figure, Page was most famous for the estimated 20,000 4-by-5-inch black-and-white glossy photographs taken by amateur shutterbugs from 1949 and to 1957.

"Exactly what captures the imagination of people in terms of popular culture is something hard to define," Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner once said of Page. "But in Bettie's case, I'd say it's a combination of wholesome innocence and fetish-oriented poses that is at once retro and very modern."

--Louis Sahagun

The Times will post a full obit of Page soon.

We've just had a terrible week - our cat, our boy, Deke, of 14 years, had to be put down on Sunday. He suffered from a sudden Saddle Thrombosis - a piece of plaque from his heart broke off and got caught in the artery and cut off blood circulation to his hind quarters and legs paralyzing him and putting him into instant pain and discomfort. We had to make the agonizing decision to put him out of his misery. The time from when there was the first sign of something wrong to him passing was just 2 hours. Not enough time for us to get prepared to say goodbye to him and too much time for him to be suffering. He was terrified for his last 2 hours on the planet. It's just not fair.

We're going to feel sad for some time. It's hard for some non-pet people to understand. He was such a beautiful boy, with the sweetest personality and the biggest heart. His brother Grummin has been looking for Deke. We have to make sure he is going to be alright .There's a hole in our lives now. We miss him soooo much! We love you sweet boy. Here are a few photos of Deke:

Here's our sweet, beautiful boy Deke:
