1. How do I get my band playing an instore at Utopia Underground?
- Just send us an email to
contact@utopia.com.au titled INSTORE REQUEST. That way it gets to the right person... Then please include:
Your band details (ie. myspace link etc)
What kind of music you guys are
The proposed date you wish to play (a months notice is appreciated)
And any other bands you know/or would like to play with.
After you send that through you should hear back from us shortly about how to get your band downstairs. Remember this is a free event. BANDS DO NOT GET PAID. But, if your a smaller band its a good chance to get your band out there and into the public. Out of that garage!
2. Do you guys do work experiance? Yes we do. To organise that we prefer if you get it organised through the school... That way everyone knows what needs to be done. By all means you can ask us if we are free that week, but we like a bit of notice. It makes things easier all around. So, yeah get your school to email us.. and well get the ball rolling!
3. How do I get a job with you guys? A big misconception is that there is some 'waiting list' etc. Haha. Not true. Jobs come up from time to time as people move on, so we DO review the resumes given to us over the counter.
We enjoy a fresh attitude, a variable knowledge in music, and a punctual loyal go getter.
So, if you think that might be you.. come on in, drop us your resume and we might be giving you a call one day!
4. How do I find out about things upcoming at your store? Well, many ways... We have our Myspace and our website which is currently getting updated. We update the myspace the most so if you subscribe to our page you should be in the know of any bullentins or pictures we upload on a daily basis.
Blogs I think from here on in will be updated more to keep you guys in the loop so stay tuned.
If its something reasonably big, like an instore with Lamb of God, if your a Sydney sider you can always check our adds/updates in the Drum Media.
5. Where are you guys located now that you moved?Well, if your asking yourself that question, where the hell have you been in the last close to 3 years?? :)
We are now... at 233 Broadway, Ultimo/Glebe/Whatever you wanna call it.
It the best location to get a beer before the Manning Bar shows, or if your like us, after work haha.
Its time to check us out if you havent already!
6. What are your store hours? Since the 2009 start of year, we decided we would scrap late night shopping hours.
So, Our new Hours are as followed:
Monday- 10 am to 6 pm
Tuesday- 10 am to 6 pm
Wednesday- 10 am to 6 pm
Thursday- 10 am to 6 pm
Friday- 10 am to 6 pm
Saturday 10 am to 6 pm
Sunday- 12 to 4 pm
7. Do you guys buy secondhand cds/Dvds/Collectables?Yep. We will accept most forms of music. But unfortunatly Jazz, Classical, Hip Hop and Folk music really arent our thing.
The product has to be in reasonable condition.. so in otherwords.. At least play in the stereo :)
So if your moving/keen for cash/looking to trade or downsize your collection. Take that stuff out of your boxes and into our store!
8. Why do you guys just sell metal?Maybe because thats all the world really needs :)
9. Where do you get all your clothing?Mostly overseas... But its becoming hard to get things as there is a small problem of being in opposite seasons haha.
We try our best to get things
warm in Winter and
cool in summer.. Try try and try :)
10. Do you guys sell tickets to shows?Yep... We are a
moshtix registered outlet.. And occasionally we get tickets to other big name band shows.. Ie. Mindless Self Indulgence...
