i can't stand religious fanatics of any religion. and i mean from any religion. nothing against religious people, obviously, but those who blatantly judge others and say such "horrible" things of supposed "moral superiority" angers and saddens me. i feel embarrased to know some of these people. i certainly wouldn't call them my friends. it's such a shame because they only see the differences instead of the kindness and humanity that links us all.  what a waste.

I was one of those 46 million Americans who couldn't afford healthcare.

Now I am a tax paying member of the UK with its National Healthcare system.
There is undoubtedly some shortcomings to such a system and it is a huge
task to change to it from a previously privatised system.

In all honesty, at times I am rather annoyed to give such a substantial percentage
of my earnings to a system I hardly ever use.
However, most of the time I am happy to give from my modest pot
to know that anyone whether they be rich or poor, young or old,
if they need it, can go and seek medical attention.

Some call it a tendency towards socialism, communism and other such fear-tactic jargon.
Regardless of its label, doing so makes me even more proud to be a human being and makes this world a nicer place to live.

sometimes i get so down from working and spending most of my earnings on making music. why does it have to cost so much to make good quality recordings? i know i could do it from my house but my computer keeps crashing, i'm rubbish at production and i'm a bit of a perfectionist.

the other option is getting signed and having someone else pay for it and distribute it. but that means that someone else owns your work which you've put your heart, sweat and tears into and can do whatever they want with it including preventing you from releasing that particular recording or making you change parts of it.
those who are fortunate enough to be related to lots of money find the road easier. but for the majority of us we have to struggle between making music that we're proud of and feeding ourselves. i'm just a bit down at present but will carry on. it's funny how making music encompasses my greatest joys and deepest sorrows at the same time. a bit like love and eating chillies.

i think the sign of a good festival is one in which small children are dancing joyfully at the very front of the stage while dogs are politely sitting up and listening to the music next to their owners. if you haven't played at the Dartmouth Music festival I can certainly recommend it. It is now our favourite festival. Lovely, lovely location (it didn't even feel like we were in England). clusters of boats a street away from the stage, teenagers holding hands under palm trees, children with painted faces eating ice cream next to a water fountain; it was so surreal but very very nice. the music was certainly eclectic from folk to jazz to rock to classical. we felt right at home. it's a festival for everything and everyone.
