Hello,
We have some info we'd like to confirm. Did you write a song "Always Remember Me" (for Jeff Scott Buckley) ? If so, is this the same song featured in your music player currently ? We didn't see the reference to Jeff in the title and were wondering ....

If it is the same song we've heard about, we'd like to feature a link to your myspace page for the Jeff Buckley birthday online celebrations Tuesday Nov. 17th at jeffbuckley.com

We'd love a paragraph about how you came to be inspired to write the song and bio on you that we can include ....

Thank you much
Jeff Buckley Music, Inc.

"Always Remember Me" - BEHIND THE SONG

Like most folks, I became an immense fan of Jeff Buckley the instant I heard his timeless release, Grace. Some years back, I was fortunate to hang out with Jeff's dear mother, Mary on a few memorable occasions. I was surprised to learn that aside from the fact that we share the middle name "Scott" and both attended Musician's Institute/GIT, Jeff also shared my passion for Brazilian music, Qawwali devotional singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and of course, Led Zeppelin. I still keep one of Jeff's guitar picks that Mary gave me in my case for good luck and the intent of his music continues to inspire. It's become like a mission to turn as many uninitiated ears onto Jeff's music as possible and I made a special point to share his Grace with a certain singer compadre of mine, Sage Sansone. I first met Sage in Sarasota, Florida and was simultaneously astounded and haunted by the eerily "Buckley-esque" qualities in her soaring vocal approach. I was equally astounded to hear that she had been living in a cave and had never heard any Buckley... not Tim, not Jeff... Never!!?? When I finally played Grace for her, it was like she had found her long lost brother - a dream brother, if you will.

"Always Remember Me" began with an unfinished piece of music I had recorded with Brazil's Badi Assad on kalimba, bassist Jake Wolf and renowned drummer, Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, David Bowie, Fiona Apple). The song has these watery, rapidly cascading verses contrasting the very percussive flamenco nature of the choruses. The meter and arrangement of the song are rather unusual so, I knew the vocals would need to have a more legato and soaring quality - much like J.B. did with many of his more rhythmically complex pieces. I gave the music to Sage, spurring her on to use our collective passion for Jeff's life and music as an inspiration for the words and melodies. When we met in Nashville, TN the night before we were to record Sage's vocals for the song, I was blown away by what she had written thus far. I suggested that the verse she was singing sounded like the chorus and what she was singing in the chorus should be moved to the verse. So, we literally flipped them, massaged a few of the melodies and I offered up the line "like this tear in my hand" to accentuate the chorus. This is a song that sat without lyrics for 9 years and then in one magical evening, it was finished! The following day in vocal session, Sage was channeling "Jeff" with everything she had and it comes across very poignant & powerful on the track. Afterwards, we went to dinner and ordered a single drink for the empty chair at our table - in Jeff's honor. As you can imagine, our waiter thought we were just a bit strange. That is, until we told him who the drink was for... turns out he was a Jeff Buckley fan too!

NOW PLAYING: Jeff & Twinkle's NEW Cajun-drenched re-make of Aerosmith's classic and underrated "Seasons of Wither."

WHY YOU CARE?: First off, it clocks in at 7 minutes 13 seconds long!!! We find that longer songs tend to work best at times like these ;)  Second, THE GIRL CAN SING!! Folks have been reporting that Twinkle's voice makes them feel, "all warm inside."

"Steven Tyler wrote the track and sites it as one of his very favorite Aerosmith songs. I've wanted to do a cover 'Seasons of Wither' since I was a little kid playing along with Get Your Wings in my bedroom, every day, after school. I knew I didn't want to have a guy sing it cause Steven Tyler can't be duplicated but when I met Twinkle, I knew I had finally found the voice that could do the song proud." ~ Jeff

ABOUT TWINKLE

Twinkle was born into music and has great back story which includes backing vocal credits on Rod Stewart's multi platinum Vagabond Heart, live duets with Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and a stint as vocalist with former Allman Brothers guitarist, Dickey Betts.

An intriguing & related preface to this story happened when Aerosmith played in Florida recently. Also on the bill was Lenny Kravitz, who couldn't make it for some reason ?? leaving Aerosmith stuck without an opening act! Long story short, a mutual friend in route to the venue volunteered her friend & passenger, Twinkle to open the show. So without her band, solo with just her voice & piano, Steven Tyler introduced Twinkle to a packed arena where she proceeded to bring the house down!! One of those great rock-n-roll stories about a truly gifted artist you won't soon forget...

TAKEN FROM TODAY'S TOP STORIES ON THE OFFICIAL MICHAEL JACKSON WEB SITE:
http://www.mjfanclub.net/home/index.php

(28-06-09) Guitarist Jeff Young was in the recording studio putting the final touches on a very special song when he learned the news of Michael Jackson's passing. He decided to dedicate this wonderful song to the King of Pop and wanted very much for the fans to hear it so that we might be comforted. Here is his dedication along with the lyrics to the song:

Millions will forever remember where they were the day Michael Jackson transcended this world. The fact that I was in a recording studio laying the final guitar solo and preparing to mix the following track with the same man that mixed sister Janet's mega-hit "Black Cat" can be no accident... just as Michael Jackson's unending and unprecedented contributions to the world of music, dance, film & racial unity are no accident.

More than any musician in history, his god given gifts were revealed in ways that reached into our souls with a gloved hand, touching the very core of everything that is humanity. Although the "music world" will forever mourn his passing and suffer the loss of his innate creativity, Michael Jackson - the man and his music are forever "Eternal."

ETERNAL (Sergio Assad, Gregg Analla, Jeff Young)

bring the night
set the stage
dim the lights now
stroke the keys
fire the drums
light a candle
i hear a voice slice the silence around me
it's time again...
cascading colors in lyrical flight
shinning and luminous guardian angel
bow your head to the beat it's caressing
keeping time
cascading currents and vibrating cries
shinning and luminous guardian angel sing
voices eternal
tears flowing - life is so frail

guardian angel sing
the voice is eternal
tears flowing life is so frail
beautiful visions caught in the light of this...

place the mic in the shrine of the spotlight
anticipate
vocalize dreams of both present and past
capture emotion in a life everlasting
face the crowd sing your song for the last time
and nevermore
all of your memories caught in a spark
rhythm and light lead you out of the darkness - sing!

voices eternal
tears flowing life is so frail
guardian angels sing
the voice is eternal
tears flowing - life is so frail
beautiful visions caught in a smile on your face

guardian angels sing
voices eternal
tears flowing - life is so frail

flowing full circle
life never faded away

JEFF YOUNG’S ‘DETH’ AND LIFE EXPERIENCES ~ TRANSCENDING HEAVY METAL AND CANCER

During the late eighties, classically trained guitarist Jeff Young stepped into the metal world as lead-guitarist for the legendary band, Megadeth. Jeff’s highlight performances on the group’s 1987 So Far, So Good, So What! album and tours astounded mega-fans and guitar aficionados alike. Fueled by an infamous cover of the Sex Pistols anthemic, “Anarchy,” complete with Pistols guitarist Steve Jones in tow, the platinum selling release was among the first of its genre to crack the Billboard Top 20 pop charts. Equally renowned is the band’s film stealing performance of album’s epic, “In My Darkest Hour” immortalized by director Penelope Spheeris in her rockumentary, The Decline of Civilization Part II – The Metal Years.

In the years that followed, Jeff went on to pen the cult classic column Fingerprints in Guitar for the Practicing Musician magazine. His eclectic musical trek led him to a prolific musical partnership with Brazilian singer-guitarist, Badi Assad. Fine guitar company to be in when you consider that Badi was chosen as the face of Acoustic Guitar magazine editor's 'Artist of the Decade' and just happens to be the younger sister of the world's premier guitar duo, Sergio & Odair Assad. The Assad-Young collaboration bore fruits including the self-produced album, Chameleon (Verve/PolyGram) - which climbed to number one in Europe along with highlight performances on the Lilith Fair and Farm Aid festivals. The Chameleon single, "Waves" was also prominently featured in the Michael/Kirk Douglas film, It Runs in the Family.

Flash forward to 2009 and we find Jeff Young engaged in the process of cancer survivorship as he conquers a daily quest for "mega-life." Early in 2003, Jeff was diagnosed with testicular cancer - the same disease that also affected 7-time Tour de France winning cyclist Lance Armstrong and MTV comedian Tom Green. Jeff’s untimely diagnosis came right in the midst of recording his very first self-titled album project. The pending disk entitled, Equilibrium reveals Jeff as a decidedly creative guitarist, songwriter, arranger and producer representing a considerable departure from the music he became famous for with Megadeth.

Performing on a myriad of historic acoustic instruments, Jeff’s influences span the horizon from gypsy flamenco, Brazilian jazz, Middle Eastern, rock, classical, and reggae. Displaying a dizzyingly unique sense of invention, Young and a cast of renowned musical allies seamlessly unite these diverse genres to create a sound that is "very electric, just minus the electricity." With many of the pending album’s 14 tracks near completion, the process had to be placed on hold after Jeff’s cancer was diagnosed. After an initial surgery, the doctors in his hometown of Sarasota, Florida monitored the situation to see if the cancer would spread to other susceptible regions. After noticing elevated HGC and AFP levels in blood tests, a PET scan confirmed that 3 grape sized tumors had in fact appeared in his right abdomen lymph nodes.

Inspired by Lance Armstrong’s best selling book It’s Not About the Bike, Jeff immediately contacted Armstrong'’s doctor, Lawrence Einhorn at Indiana’s Indianapolis, Indiana's University Hospital. Dr. Einhorn is the premier specialist in the testicular cancer field, having achieved recognition for pioneering the combination of chemotherapy drugs that literally flipped the T.C. survival paradigm from a 95% fatality rate to a 95% survival rate. “"The first time I sat with Dr. Einhorn, I passed a copy of my album across the desk and told him quite simply that I do on guitar what Lance does on a bike and I’m ready to do whatever it takes to move through this disease.”"

Einhorn prescribed for Jeff, an initial treatment plan that included a grueling nine-week chemotherapy protocol. At the conclusion of the chemo process, tests confirmed that a small portion of the cancer known as teratoma was still present in Jeff’s lymph nodes. The only option at this stage was for doctors to perform a radical abdomen surgery known as “nodal dissection.” I.U.’s Dr. Richard Foster successfully performed the surgery and today, Jeff is cancer free and sits poised to transcend his "most underrated guitarist" status.

As for the future, Jeff is fully engaged in his rehabilitation, which entails a lifestyle reinvention process including revised diet, yoga, swimming and cycling – spurred on by Armstrong’s heroic influence. He looks forward to putting the finishing touches on his album, Equilibrium by early June as well as a new contemporary guitar trio project, YMT Guitar Trio with Scott Morris and Steven Thachuk.

Jeff states that the key to successfully transcending cancer is all about positivity, knowledge, diet, rest and most of all, “Not allowing the cancer or the chemotherapy to be viewed as the enemy.” He goes on to say, "You can'’t allow yourself to play the victim card… there are no victims in this life, only volunteers. Every challenging situation that we encounter appears to teach us something about life and about ourselves.”"

“"What cancer has taught me is this… destiny, fate, whatever you wish to call her, always hands us our life lessons with seemingly extreme conditions. Some call it the ‘two hands of fate’. In my case, one hand gave me this cancer with all of the challenges, fear, pain and scars. On the other hand, I’ve been introduced to so many caring and compassionate people, life altering experiences, and invaluable lessons that I can’t help but feel the journey of transcending cancer is a gift not a curse.”"
