Hello, Hello... How is everyone? Just thought I'd write a quick update.... it's been a while after all.

So the first bit of news is that I am playing Glastonbury! All very exciting! I have discovered that without a booking agent, getting into festivals is nigh on impossible but I managed... I am playing The Rabbit Hole stage on Saturday night at about 7pm. anyone who is lucky enough to hold a ticket please come and say hello.

Also I just wanted to say that i am finally getting my ass into gear and recording music videos for my songs. the lovely and very talented Lindsay Starbuck and I are about to commence filming for It Doesn't Snow here and more will follow. Keep watch!

Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine, when it does shine...

Madelaine xx

p.s. i have written some new songs and will post them asap.

Hello all! I got my first 2 reviews! My husband is an actor and most actors take the sacred vow (or at least try) 'never read ones own reviews'. I completely understand this oath, if one lives by ones reviews one dies by them also. However.... my fist 2 reviews are good! and so i side step the above promise in favour of posting them here for all to see. I know, i know, it is shallow and narcissistic of me but it is very exciting to know that my music is in the world and of the world and that 2 people, unknown to me, have decided to comment on it. These are Jamendo reviews for EP1. EP2 has not gone live on Jamendo yet. Madelaine Hart Is Going Places With That Voice16/01/09“Madelaine Hart is going places with that voice of hers. Outstanding passion, and emotion in her voice, and she carries the lyrics with such style and finesse in her vocals. Nice acoustic guitar accompanying her that set the tracks of nicely. And so much more to this album.” Jamendo online review Better Than Good Really14/01/09 “A great find - this artist has a voice almost up there with Cat Powers and I don’t give that comparison lightly as I am a great fan of the same. I don’t whether Madelaine drinks burbon and smokes Lucky’s but what a superb voice; smoky, aching frgile and powerful - I wish her great success. All tracks are stand outs but Together has real class.” Jamendo online review

Hello all! It has been a long time since I have written. In the interim I have done much work and much relaxing also. I will have the links up on my myspace just a soon as i work out how to do it! But please feel free to go to those sites and download till your hearts content! I very much hope you like them. xxx

hello all... it has been a while since i have put fingers to keyboard and tried to stream some small bit of interesting reading onto this blog. what have i been doing? well.... the usual really; writing, gigging and recording. just keeping it all moving along. i am very near completion of the recording of my first EP! that is very exciting although i must say i am not exactly sure what it will sound like yet! you know when you set out to record something wonderful? you have written a song that you are really proud of. people like the song, you like the song, you decide to record it. you feel motivated excited, revolutionary even... you get the good take, you rush it home to listen through your own trusty old stereo... and then you hear it. and no matter how good the song or the recording, it is still just you. your voice, your intonations and just plain old you. it is like being deflated with one single preliminary note rising out of your speakers, when you realise it can only ever be you that sings back to you. and will you ever be revolutionary or magical to yourself? probably not. i guess you just have to hope that you're song and you're voice is something, anything to the ears of another.

does anyone else feel this way or is it just me? dont get me wrong. i love it all. i love the whole process and am proud of creating something from start to finish. it was just a thought i wanted to share, out out there.

hello hello... second blog coming up.

just wanted to mention that there are new tunes on my page. I Wanna Be Loved is a song written by the very talented and self-depricating John Mister. We recorded it this week at his friend and percussionist's house, Roy Dodds (check his page out if you want to hear some wonderful rhythms). I think it is a wicked groove and we are yet to add lap steel guitar to it. the vocal is an unusual one for me, higher than usual but i hope you like it. the lyrics are creepy so i tried to get that across vocally.

Silent Type is another new tune, i co-wrote with Jonny Lattimer... i tell you, i lost some sleep over this one but i think we are finally happy with its demo form... wadd-da-ya reckon?

September gigs are posted on my page... would love you to come along. very excited for the main stage at Soho Revue Bar... i love a big stage!

hope you're all well and happy...

speak soon xxxxxx

Well... the little icon that i click to write these words to you says "Post New Blog". This little message is indeed my "New Blog" and it is also my Only Blog. I have been negligent in my blogging. I am sure my starting to blog will not change anyones life but i am thinking that opening a pathway of musically social communication beyond a quick hello and thank you at the end of my gigs is a good thing, a thing to do. And so i do it.

Just to let you know what's happening at the moment... The month of August is a bit of a hiatus from gigging as my guitarist is away and also it is quite nice to have a gigging break so that you get back on the stage renewed and hopefully more interesting and energised. in the meantime i am doing lots of song writing. writing on my bed, writing in the garden, writing on the bus, writing with other very lovely talented writers, writing, writing and writing... i just recorded two new songs yesterday so i will post them imminently.

on the gig front, i have some quite fun venues coming up so please check out my page and decide which gig or gigs you might want to join me for!!

i am not going to blabber on any longer as i thing this blog is far too long but i will definately keep you posted when things of interest come up. please feel free to message me back!

And so, on a late saturday morning, sprawled on my bed with my cat ruby for company i say goodbye. xxxx
