Get your airhorns ready. Mister Meistro, associate of Lab homeys Dave Nada and Tittsworth (and therefore posessing immaculate party-rocking credentials) is back with the followup to his first roots/dancehall/classics mix. Loved the first one, (and a lot of you did too) but this one may be even better. The blends are still on point and the transitions come at the right time in the track (people please take note: do not mix out in the middle of a verse!). Even more importantly, the song selection hits the correct balance between new, known and classics so everybody's happy. Things kick off in high gear with the criminally underplayed Rocking Time riddim (Chezidek's "Who I Am") and continue on a smooth modern roots tip with a succession of quality conscious dancehall interspersed with big tunes from Alborosie ("Slam Bam"), Buju ("Don & Dupes"), Pinchers ("Bandelero") and Super Cat ("Come Down"). The expert lacing of new versions with their precedents (big up for throwing in "Don Is Don") shows you're in the hands of a veteran. There's no way I can start to go thru even half of the 41 (!) tracks on here, but suffice to say Meistro has added a few to my wants list, and reminded me of a couple others I need to dig out of the box and get back in rotation. Nicely done sir. reviewed by Monk

If you want volume 1, paypal me $8 - I've got a few left. (djmeistro2510@yahoo.com)

so turntablelab just picked up my cd - check for it here:
http://www.turntablelab.com/cds/0/0/14868.html

or at retial locations in NYC and LA!

Here is their review:
The reggae monkey is extremely wary of reggae mix cds, especially ones that get sent to the Lab, so you should know that you are getting a good one here. Aside from the Federation crew cds, there really aren't that many good reggae mixes out there (you're either getting 80 of the exact same "dancehall classics" or 80 brand new tracks that will all be forgotten in a week), and the ones that come from people who are "on the lab radar" seem especially unadventurous or strange in scope. Meistro has got his selection down pretty tight on here though, rolling through mostly conscious-type tunes with a heavy dancehall slant (meaning it's not on some mopey Drop Leaf style). Most of it is from the last couple years, like "Khaki Suit, Hungry, Handcart Boy," and lotsa Richie Spice, but you also get some nice 80s + 90s sections, with semi-forgotten classics from Capleton, Red Rose, Pampidoo, Terror Fab, Tinga Stewart and the like. I predict long shelf life on this one.

Here's what Rhome wrote about Oh Snap!  (this Saturday!  don't sleep!)

DJ Meistro and DJ Dave Nada are still doing their best to recreate the rapturous Matrix Revolutions dance scene in the real-life environs of Columbia Heights. Oh Snap! at Wonderland is where they play the types of records that get phone numbers slid into your pocket. You pay nothing for the privilege.
