KSDI019: "Mon-o-Phone" Mon-o-Phone (full album)

Mon-o-Phone is a Lo-Fi drum machine/guitar band from Hasselt, Belgium with Ciska Vanhoyland on vocals and Koen Brouwers on electric guitar. The band was formed in August 2007. In their sound you'll hear echo's of The Kills, PJ Harvey, The Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Iggy Pop. On top of the vintage drum loops there's a raw energetic guitar sound which blends nicely with the intense vocals. The live line-up include Gunther Liket (Radio Infinity, Vandal X) on drums and Mimi van de Put (Buffoon, Barbie Bangkok) on bass. Mon-o-Phone puts up an energetic, intense show that no one can resist. March 2008, Mon-o-Phone was selected out of 750 bands to play at the finals of the "Fnac's unsigned music talents" at the Petrol, Antwerp on April 26, 2008. More to come….

KSDI020: "Live at the rock'n'roll supermarket" The Mudgang (full album)

The Mudgang started off as a prolongation of a Ghent Punk Band "More Action" way back in november 1983. Luc MG (later Soapstone en Tom.e.Gunn) en Paul Brusseel, at the time being rockabillies, wanted to play their favourite music (E. Cochran, G. Vincent, The Meteors, The Cramps,...) but then very loud en very raw. Jo de Bondt (Ze-Noiz, Pink Flowers, LadyDay) en Steven Janssens (The Spanks, The Whodads, Daan, Mauro, the Stiffs...) joined in cos' they could dig the concept. The first year, being very young and all, they learned how to play properly. The live gigs were pretty legendaric. If they didn't show up drunk, they turned up stoned out of their heads, looting backstage frigs and having fights with sound technicians. As a concert promotor you were lucky if they even showed up at all. God may forgive them their sins, cos they didn't actually knew what they were doing.

monogold brouwt nummers rond de muzikale ideeën van Hein De Wolf, Boy en Sven De Potter, heren met een mooi palmares in het Belgische muzieklandschap.
Het genre? Iemand probeerde er de titel 'funky postrock' op te kleven... maar, what's in a name. Het kan. Maar evengoed pop of soundtracktunes van onuitgegeven films... monogold heeft vooral een eigen smoel, doet zijn eigen ding, wars van alle trends, hypes en voorschriften van de music police. Bewust tegendraads? Neen. De band zoekt steeds de melodie op, nu eens met weerhaken, dan weer groovy pulserend, gevoed door een hypnotiserende Fender Rhodes en uitwaaierende gitaren.
Vergelijkingen? Hm, ... omdat het moet, wat vrijblijvende referenties: a blend of Air, het meanderende van Pinback, le fonque de Serge Gainsbourg, scapes van Pink Floyd, Zita Swoon, The Rapture, Dead Man Ray, David Sylvian...
Full cd is helemaal DIY. Do IT Yourself. Productie. Mixing. Mastering. Genoeg knowhow in huis voor een stevige schijf. De eerste reacties zijn lovend. Digitale release op Kinky Star gepland voor het voorjaar van 2009.

KSDI018: "s/t EP" SardoniS

SardoniS are a two man aural demolition crew from Belgium whose musical output encompass the pure, unadulterated brutality of High On Fire, the atmosphere of 5ive and the vintage swing n' groove of early Black Sabbath. A throwback to stoney, blown-speaker Doom of that golden Man's Ruin Records era but with a magic all their own.

Started in the summer of 6, recorded a demo in February of '08 and a 4 song EP two months later at Studio Jonathas together with riffmeister Xavier Carion (formerly Cyclone / Channel Zero) Belgian Electric Earth Records released these songs on a 7" and while the 50 limited white copies were sold out in less than 4 days, there are still some copies of the 200 regular black ones circuling around somewhere.

To promote this EP, SardoniS played about 15 shows at the end of 2008, sharing stages with Grand Magus, Serpentcult, Atomic Bitchwax, Toner Low, Kongh, Switchblade and many more.

SardoniS specific and heavy approach appeals to listeners of heavy music but also people who's recordplayer normally don't play hard music. The EP is highly acclaimed and gets positive reviews internationally.

The band is currently writing new songs for their upcoming debut full length somewhere in the summer of 2009.

KSDI001: "EP" TOKOTA
already digitaly released 1st of Dec 07
During the summer of 2007 TOKOTA recorded their first six-track EP which was digitally released in December. The new single "ALL SO CLEAR" is doing very well. 'All So Clear' hits the playlists of Studio Brussel, FM Brussel, Urgent FM and other radio stations in Belgium.

KSDI002: "Live EP" NEEDLE

During a Kinky Star label night at Recyclart in Brussels (19th of Oct. 07) mixer Peter Van De Veire recorded the live energetic powerfull guitar concert of NEEDLE. With surprising cover versions of "Let there be rock" (AC/DC) and the 80's hit "Feels Like Heaven" (FICTION FACTORY) in an up tempo rock version. "Bang Bang" is one of the new tracks of the upcoming full album (release Oct. 08)

KSDI003: "EP" BLACK JETTAS

This young band get their energy from the late 60's & early 70's (garage)rockscene with a touch of glamrock without losing sight of the melody.
Over the past couple of months BLACK JETTAS have recorded their first EP with Sebastiaan Omerson (Pornorama, Dr. Pepper Family) behind the mixing desk. This 4 tracks EP is the very nice result.

After the double album "Move/The Mountain" last year, this band celebrates their 10 year anniversary with their 5th full album. The new single "In dream we make different plan" gives a good idea of COEM's sound. Extra instruments as vibraphone, (bariton) saxophone, clarinet and nice arrangements by Hans Stubbe gives the sounds so much more colour.

Hi there.

These days, kids can do more than jump around, scream and be annoying: they can do it all on stage! Thanks to Jongeduld, a wide range of new bands (from 15 tot 18 years old) got their first experiences in a studio and/or at a 'serious' gig, so we're not gonna stop now!
The youngsters kicking off the new season call themselves Arristide, and will be taking over our Club vigilante-style on Wednesday, October 11th at 4 pm. They play loud energetic rock influenced by Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and dEUS, to name a few.

Do you wanna be next? If you're between 15 and 18 years old and live in Belgium, you can. All styles of music are allowed, so go crazy and send your stuff to:
