I was listening to Israel and New Breed today. In one of the songs, "Take The Limits Off," Israel says, "I hear the Lord say, 'Take the limits off me. Release me to accomplish what I promised.' "

I've never thought of our lack of faith as a hindrance to God, but it's true that unbelief and doubt blocks what God wants to do in our lives. Jesus told His disciples that all things are possible with God. If we want to see God do the impossible in our lives, we have to believe God for the impossible. Doubting what He can do -- faithlessness -- blocks what He will do. James said we have to ask God for things in faith, with no doubting. The man who asks God for something, but doubts he'll get it won't receive anything from God because he's double-minded (James 1:6-7).

On many occasions, after Jesus healed people, He told them that it was their faith that made them whole, or that because of their faith they could have what they asked. Jesus had the healing power, but none of those people would have been healed if they hadn't activated their faith. The woman with the issue of blood suffered for 12 long years and spent all of her money on doctors. She probably reached a point where she thought healing was impossible. But something in her pushed her to touch Jesus' garments because she knew He had healing power. That woman believed God to do the impossible in her life.

In the song, Israel sings repeatedly, "Take the limits off, take the limits off." I can picture God pleading with us to take the limits off Him; pleading with us to allow Him to release His miraculous power in our lives.

It's so easy to let doubt and fear keep us from believing that there is any greatness inside of us. But as children of God, as heirs to His kingdom, He's given us His Holy Spirit, which endows us with power from on high. Tapping into that power is a matter of faith. Jesus said those who believe in Him would do the works He does and even greater works than those. That means we're going to continue to the work of Jesus Christ through worldwide evangelism. He has a plan to use us and our lives for His glory. He wants to do amazing things for us and through us so we'll glorify Him and more souls will be drawn to Him. But in addition to that, first and foremost, God blesses us because He loves us and longs to prosper us.

Imagine what we could accomplish for the kingdom if we would take the limits off God and allow Him to take us where He wants to take us. I am the first partaker of this word. As someone who battles with self-doubt and fear, I know the key is not relying on what I can do. The key is relying on what God can do. When I look beyond myself and my abilities and comfort zones, I will find God's perfect will for me. And that's when the limits will come off.
