Hey friends
Well it seems like things are happening as we continually keep getting more make-believe friends online and more listens to our songs. Thanks to everyone for listening to our stuff.
I just wanted to drop a quick note and talk about 2 things: 1. The EP 2. A Possible Ottawa Gig
1. The EP is still a mash of hopes, dreams and dairy creams but I think I finally found an old song that will tie things together nicely and thematically. It was a song I wrote in a whirlwind moment of inspiration a few years ago during a family Christmas in Cobourg. I ran down to the basement, grabbed the guitar and put together a very fairytale/Torq Campbell-esque progression and thought of words that could go with. The words, though, seemed a little forced and almost too foreign to me to make sense. Today, though, I played that song again and it nearly made me well up. It will be the title track to the EP - stay tuned.
2. It is almost in the 95 percentile that Graven (versions 1.5 and possibly parts of 1.0) will be playing a Christmas party gig @ The Rainbow in the Byward Market of Ottawa on Dec 22. The night was already being run as a GravenRecords promotional evening and already had some great artists on the bill, but now, it seems the Graveners are being sought after to bring some holly-jolly jingle to nation's cap.
Lots in the works - stay tuned!

Thanks to everyone who made it out on a balmy November night to the Artel. With an opening set from AudioPark (who recently opened for Most Serene Republic) and friends Silver Speakers, Graven finished out the night well and rocked in a new collaborative form. I felt like breakin' into 'Extraordinary' by Plaskett as the cops truly did show up, but they didn't come back.
Keep posted for the new Graven EP 'Zenith The Meadow' coming soon.

Look out - a new EP is underway.
Although certain players of the Graven family have scattered to far islands of this country, it doesn't mean that creation stops.
'Zenith The Meadow' will be a lead-up EP - taking the listener out of the valley and into a clearing.
Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, check out the new tracks on the profile at the bottom of the playlist!
Cheers.

Hey friends
Well - thinks are starting to gear down a little for the graven crew. We hit up Ottawa for our cd release, Toronto for NXNE, Ottawa again, Westport a few days ago and we are on to Kingston next week for close to the end of the tour. The summer starts to wind down into July and I am longing for patios amidst all of this blasted rain.
To any of y'all who made it out - thank you. You are a part of Graven.
To any of y'all who didn't - you missed out. But fear not - we'll be back.
Keep on keepin it real.
Matty

Friends
The Ottawa EP release show was a great success. In fact, we are still kinda coming down off of the high of that night. A good crowd of friends, fam and fans came out to support us. CKCU Carleton has offered to play some more of music from the strength of that show, so that's golden. The sound was great and the hype was lived up to.
Thanks to ANY and ALL of y'all who may read this who did, in fact, come out that night
Next stop: TORONTO @ The Horseshoe on June 17th during the NXNE festival.
Peace Matty

Well - the spring has almost sprung in a speed that is unfathomable. The shoots of weeds are pushing up through a deep, hard thaw. The tips of thornbushes are beginning to bud.
And we continue to work.
There is a new EP on the horizon and I'll let y'all know more details when there are more finite essentials to give. The EP will feature a few four tracks that have been worked to provide the utmost of instrumental variance and synchronicity between the 5 musicians that make Graven. We're hoping to have it ready by the end of May.
It's gonna be a gooder.
Thanks for checkin' in out there in internet land. Sleep tight and don't let the chilly, april flurries fool you - Spring is speeding into view.

In the midst of living, I have almost completely forgotten about the myspace blog.
Here's the deal: The is some seriously new and life-altering shizznit happening within the gears of Graven. A few new members (Landon Kotchapaw, Owen Edwards and Paul Godin) have all stepped into the bucket to try and take things to the next level of musical wizardry. We have been practicing (and very secretly, I might add) on a regular basis and should be ready to hit the gas in the early spring for some shows.
The sound will be a little different...but still mostly the same.
Your ears might bleed...but they will heal with time.
Your soul might go through a dark night...but the dawn will always come.
Watch for new updates, a new spring/summer show lineup AND a brand new full band album.
All in the works. Thanks for being a part of all of this thus far.

Hey All
It has been a while since I ventured to post a myspace blog - the functionality in their blogging tool is a little ludite - but I digress.
Nov 24 will be the site of a surprise/last minute invitation show in KINGSTON, of all places, where Graven will open the evening at 8 pm sharp. Other bands playing that night are Knock Knock Ginger and The Wooden Sky. For more info, you can go the www.the-artel.ca - tickets are 6 bucks in advance at Kingston Guitar Shop and 9 at the door.
The Artel is on 205 Sydenham St. Be there. I'm a little leary of this show...it will feature a bit of a different line-up...but I'm still looking forward to the adventure of it. The max capacity at The Artel is like 75 tops so get your tickets NOW, dangit!!
Thanks for supporting the new EP and surprise concerts like this one!
Cheers
