Visiting the Pacific Northwest after missing it for several months has been a great pleasure, but I was very honored to have been given the opportunity to have a show at a Starbucks, of all places, in Lakewood, WA, thanks to great friend and stellar singer/songwriter, the awesome, the rad, Dave Hannon. Really good turn out, which is much thanks to both our supportive friends and families. I was stoked to have both my in-laws make an appearance from Tacoma (well, not a total surprise since I was staying with them : ) and also I was paid a visit from my best compadre and artistic colleague Caleb and his fabulous family. Both of us had a really good response, even from customers just passing through--literally, if they were brave enough to not go around to the side door--and they were very attentive while waiting for their drinks. I mean, I usually just stare at the Starbucks merchandise I'll never buy.
Dave definitely had a fantastic set. Psst, I hear he is getting a band and a spring tour put together... He's a great personality, very talented and down-to-earth, and I know he will ROCK!
My cold has been clinging to me since Utah, but I managed to pull off the whole set without croaking or hacking or any such gaffes. Most adorable was Caleb's young daughter and son clapping along and sometimes dancing to both Dave and I's music. Rock n' roll, capturing impressionable minds, just like in the golden days of rock!
Dave was an excellent host as well, and we were both feeling pretty satisfied after the show; needing some time to catch up, we went to Jazzbones to hear some old friends of his play in the band A Room Called Remember. They rocked the set, and a great touch is their viola player with dreads. I imagined them playing a Tonight Show gig. I think it will happen...
Well, my lovely wife Rachael and I are heading back to Albuquerque as we speak, braving once more the constant bombardment of snowfall, the twists and turns of icy passes, and the bitter cold winds sweeping over the plains. It was awesome seeing everyone for the Holidays, and I wish everyone a great 2009!

This Saturday, I will be playing a few numbers at Logan Heftel's CD release party, which starts at 7 PM at the EMpyrean Coffee House. Also present are Jonathan Nicholson and Allen Stone, and I'm stoked to be playing with all of these guys again; Allen and Logan are former Spokanites stopping through town for the holidays like myself, and this is a blessing of a coincidence.
This will be my only performance in Spokane while I'm visiting, so I'd love all my friends, fans and family in Spokane to stop in, support Logan and my friends, and hopefully hear some new material I've whipped up down in Albuquerque.
7PM, Saturday Dec 27th Empyrean Coffee House 154 S Madison St Spokane, Wa 99201
Cover charge:
$7 to get into the show, which will give you a complimentary copy of Logan's new CD!!!

Hey all! I have here a link to the podcast video of my performance with Carson Metzger at Yusif's Cafe in Albuquerque, New Mexico:
http://www.timbojo.com/Yusifs2U/The_Podcasts/Entries/2008/11/4_Week_4_-_Featured_Artists%3A__Kevin_Morgan_and_Carson_Metzger.html
OR, you can go to www.timbojo.com, click on Yusifs2U, click on the Podcast link at the bottom of the page, and either select ours (week 4) or any of the other podcasts of great musicians down here.
Now, my disclaimer: I have no idea how retarded I am in this video; I don't have internet at home and have had a hard time watching it in its entirety. However, I can vouch for Carson Metzger, who is a dynamic singer/songwriter with songs that truly are part of Carson's own unique Cantos, if you will...and I think you will!!!
So at last I have a "music video" of sorts. Unfortunately, I wanted hydraulic cars bouncing in the background and the sound of wind blowing right before and after the music, but the producer Tim shot it down. Oh, and almost forgot, the black and white overexposed look and flash-editing as seen in horrendous Nashville Country music videos. Whoops, gave away my sarcasm. (You guys know what I'm talking about with the wind sounds, right? Seriously!!! It's like the cliche for setting up the mood for music videos. In fact, you should have heard it just before reading this blog. I'm digressing, so I shall regress.)
I hope you all enjoy! (Cue haunting chinook whistling through your speakers)

Hiya, ever’ bah-dee!!! Well, Seattle didn’t pan out immediately. Rachael and I have taken a short three month detour down to Mesa, Arizona while she is on assignment. Gosh, that sounds so cool. Anyway, it is beautiful down here, and the weather’s pretty dang nice--it’s weird waking up every morning without a cloud in the sky. No rain clouds, or threatening gray clouds...But, honestly, I still do miss the rain, and I’d still feel at home in Seattle, or Spokane, or the Oregon Coast on a nice rental house on the beach I’ll buy for myself one day. Ah-ha-HAAAaa, my true colors shine through.
I have some free time to work on my music down here and to ponder our next destination, (hoping for Seattle) as Rach’s assignment here is done in mid-June! We’ll be able to get away right when the thermometer blows up at 120 degrees.
I miss what we know and love in the Pacific Northwest, especially our friends and our family. We miss all you guys! Thanks again for all your support.
Lovin’ Spoonfuls,
--Kev
And yes, that game below is what you think it is. Anybody know why the eggplant is only worth 10 points? On Dig-Dug, it’s worth at least a few thousand. Nerds-only response, please.
