Guess What ?
I finished the album... Finally, after a 1 year delay , its done! Yeah !!!
So now the artwork is being completed and then it will go to press. We`re hoping for it to be ready for release by the end of April , so lets hold thumbs that everything runs smoothly and that it gets out there in time for the Northern hemisphere summer!
What can be expected from the album ? It didnt turn out to be dark at all , but it definately has a subtle undercurrent of twistedness that runs throughout all the tracks. In my opinion , its the most groovy funk shit I`ve ever made and judging by the response I`ve gotten from playing this stuff at parties , it rocks the block in a whole new way for me.
10 tracks - 1 more than last time. No remixes , no collaborations. Here are the names:
1) Whatever 130BPM
2) Down on the Farm 142BPM
3) Play dead 142BPM
4) Change / Derange 142BPM
5) Necessary Roughness 142BPM
6) Burst into fire 144BPM
7) Candy 145BPM
8) Low , down and Dirty 145BPM
9) Heavy Structured 144BPM
10) This One thing 145BPM
The artwork is killer too - A lot of effort went into it and the photo shoot that it is all based on. I have to say thank you to the people who made it all possible -Malu and Brendon in particular.
On the last album , the theme was a funky haunted house , as was emphasised by the album "artwork" and the opening track of the cd. I`m going for the same thing here, just exploring the concept of the house a bit more both inward and outward.
Outward: The house is on a farm - I wanted to give the feeling of severe isolation and weirdness - Tumble weeds and creaking gates , jackals howling in the distance , train tracks stretching out across desert sand - that kinda thing. So once again , all of this is emphasized by what is essentially the first track on the cd , Down on the Farm ( the track "Whatever" is more of an intro). This time we also see that there is a cloud of strange dark creatures flying out of the house and filling the air....
Inward: Inside the house we see that the source of the strange creatures is in fact an old gramophone that is hooked up to my veins and being charged up with evil funk energy. After the charging is complete , My two lovely assistants take over and start churning out the noise. If that makes any sense to anyone...
Wait and see...
I`ll also be launching a proper website at the same time as the album drops , so keep an eye on the Myspace for sneak previews and details on all these new developements. Thank you for bothering to read this...
