I started this interview some time ago. I had hopes of a third issue. I've decided to start posting alot of interviews on here instead of print... Thanks for your time Sue~ Here we go... Sue, You were born in Brooklyn? Yes How long did you live there?
7 years Earliest memories?
My best friend Doreen. She lived next door & we would play with dolls, hopscotch, stoopball & go sledding down the hill at the end of our block during the winter. My dad had a boat & we would go fishing & speeding on Sheepshead Bay in the Brooklyn area. That was so much fun. How did you get into music?
My Dad played piano by ear & I discovered I had the same talent. Then I started singing while playing piano. My girlfriend Penny taught me a song on the guitar, & I was a quick study. My parents told me I had a good voice & I believed them! I took piano lessons & learned how to read music. I started listening to The Beatles, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Heart, Fleetwood Mac & Queen. I learned their songs by ear & realized how wonderful it felt to sing...especially when I touched someone else. How did your first band come about? time period?I was 15, & me & my 2 girlfriends were at a restaurant on Hollywood Blvd. We played "Chapel Of Love" by The Dixie Cups on the juke box & started singing along in harmonies. Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart (song writers & producers for The Monkees) were at the next table & heard us. They asked us if we wanted to do a record with them. We excitedly said yes. We had a single out on Bell Records called "I'm Sorry Baby". I was the lead singer. What were you into and what was going on socially/ politically?
I was into The Beatles...you could say I was a Beatlemaniac! The Viet Nam war was just starting & me & my friends were against it. I was a hippie/flower child. Peace & love. What was it like being so young with a single on Bell records?
It was so exciting! We were 3 best girlfriends who were only 15. I remember the bass player on our sessions looked just like Paul McCartney, & we couldn't contain ourselves! What would you say has changed or stayed the same with having been on Bell records and other record labels that you have worked with?
In those days the record labels gave their artists front money for recording, & would back a tour. That doesn't happen any more unless you are famous already. Today most of the artists record their music in their home studios & try to sell their CD's online. With all of the free downloads of music, the record industry will never be the same. What was the single that you did with Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart?"I'm Sorry Baby" was the single, & "Run Around Ronny" was the flip side. The gruop was called The Canaries. Where you playing out?
The Canaries never played live or toured. The record was released, but didn't get any air play. What was the scene in L.A. like, were you touring?
It was wonderful. There were so many incredible bands out there that were backed by their record lables & I got to tour alot. My bands have performed at The Forum, The Anaheim Convention Center, The Ampitheater at Magic Mountain, The Whisky A Go Go, The Roxy, The Troubador, The Country Club, The Galaxy, Gazzarri's, The Kaleidoscope, The Topanga Corral, The Lighthouse in LA; & The Avalon & The Fillmore in San Francisco. My band, Thieves, also played at The Kauai Resort Hotel. I've had some great times on the Sunset Strip, & saw many bands play live before they were famous. Me & my bands have toured all over the US & have opened for The Yardbirds, The Monkees, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Jefferson Starship, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Young Rascals, The Allman Brothers & Janis Joplin with Big Brother & The Holding Co. I sang for/with Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, Tanya Tucker, Katey Sagal, Spanky & Our Gang, Suzy Quatro, Exile, Player, Savoy Brown, Danny O'Keefe, Brian Elliot, Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge) & Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman). How did Genesis form?
Back in the good old days of the Hollywood, California music scene, I was an aspiring teen-aged singer who would go to the underground clubs to hear my favorite bands. While at The Brave New World, I met The Sons Of Adam. Their singer & songwriter, Joe Kooken, heard my record that was in the juke box at the club. He asked me if I wanted to start a band with him. I excitedly said yes! Joe (who changed his name to Jac Ttanna) & I started rounding up members for our new project. While at Gazzarri's on the Sunset Strip, we heard Kent Henry on guitar & Fred Rivera on bass with their band, Eddie James (Edward James Olmos) and The Pacific Ocean. They were too good to pass up, so they were recruited. We found a funky drummer named Bob Metke, and Genesis was formed. Genesis played all over L.A. & San Francisco, and toured the U.S. & Canada opening for Janis Joplin with Big Brother & The Holding Company, Jefferson Starship, The Yardbirds, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown & many more bands of that era. What time period were you involved with them?
Late '60's - early '70's. What was practice like as well as the theatrical stage shows?Practice was always fun, because I got to sing harmonies with Jac. Singing is my passion! The crowds we played for loved our live shows, & that was a real inspiration for us. How did In the Begining come about?Genesis was managed by Howard Wolf & the infamous Chet Helms of San Francisco's Family Dog Productions. We signed with Mercury Records & released "Genesis In The Beginning". What was one of your favorite shows you played with them?
Opening for Janis Joplin with Big Brother & The Holding Company was my favorite show by far. I was only 17 at the time. Janis saw how nervous I was & shared her bottle of Southern Comfort with me! I wasn't nervous at all when I hit the stage! How did Genesis decide to cover Leonard Cohen's Suzanne? We all loved the song & decided to put our own genre on it with Jac & I singing in harmony. Did you all contribute to the writing of lyrics, or for example Gloomy Sunday, did you do all the writing?
Gloomy Sunday was an anonymous suicide note that the guys put to music. I didn't write any of the songs on that album. Jac & Kent did most of the writing. As a lyricist tell us a little bit about your approach to song writing and topics/ subjects you write about? I have written a few songs, both the music & the lyrics, & they all came from a strong emotion that I felt about the person I wrote about. "The Beginning" was written about Gregg Allman, "Crazy Girl" was written about my neighbor Johnna, "You'll Never Get Away With It" was written about one of my record producers, & "Avery" of course, was written about my ex boyfriend Avery. I have these songs on cassette somewhere, but I haven't been able to find them :( Did genesis go through a few line- up changes when you were singing with them?
We first had Mike Port from The Sons Of Adam on bass, but he decided that Genesis wasn't right for him. We then got "Foxie Freddie" Fred Rivera on bass. He recorded the album with us. Fred was drafted a few months later, & we replaced him with Jimmy Chappell.

Dig Dip into that beer fund.. jared these flers came from : operationphoenixrecords.com out of MRR #35.
The flyers on this page are from the Bay Area 1977-80. The scene during that time was really incredible with a lot of great bands playing in a variety of original styles. CRIME were the stylistic leaders of the scene and they promoted their concerts with an awesome array of flyers and posters. The CRIME flyer pictured here resulted in cancellation of the show. The Stud, which is a gay bar, objected to the picture of Hitler so they paid the band not to play. MARY MONDAY may have been the first punk rocker to play at the now legendary Mabuhay, the scene's dominant venue for 8 years. The drawing on the flyer reflects the sense of humor the older punks of that era had about the "punk" image. SEIZURE were an excellent band who had a low profile In the scene. They released a great double A-side single, "Front Line/Cutie's Wrong Now", but not many were pressed and it had no picture sleeve. The 1980 flyer with NO ALTERNATIVE headlining at the Dew Drop Inn in Berkeley is credited to Golf-Worm. It represents a curiousity in that the some drawing was used for a 1983 Goldenvolce show with G.B.H. at Perkins Palace in Pasadena. The flyers which are reproduced on the next two pages are all from the Southern California area. Here are flyers by some of the many artists who have made important contributions to the scene: This 7 SECONDS flyer is by BARRY WOOLDRIDGE of Columbus, Ohio who describes himself as a "dedicated punk cartoonist". His flyers have a bold style that really stands out. The cute little dancing punks SHAWN KERRI created for the CIRCLE JERKS might be punk art's best known characters. They look as good today as they did on this 1981 San Francisco flyer. This DEAD KENNEDYS flyer is typical of the style of Alternative Tentacles' staff artist WINSTON SMITH. Winston also puts out a fanzine called Fallout. ACTIVE INGREDIENTS from Lexington, Kentucky show their sense of humor on this 1985 flyer. For more of their humor, check out "Rock Stars", a classic piece of funnypunk, on their second EP. D.C. hardcore hit peak intensity in late 1980 and early '81 at places like the Wilson Center, the 9:30 Club, and a host of lesser used venues. The S.O.A. flyer from 1980 features one of MINOR THREAT's early performances. It's good that this classic period has been well-documented by flyers and Dischord vinyl. Benefits were a strong tradition in Bay Area punk from the beginning. The small sampling of benefit flyers here include the legendary show the CLASH played for New Youth Productions on their first American tour in 1979. The CLASH's name had to be left off the flyer due to a contractual conflict the band had with the big time producer Bill Graham I'm almost out of space, but I hope you enjoyed the article. If you are a fanatic about this stuff, and want a copy of a 1 1/2 page article on early Bay Area punk flyers that I did for my radio station's program guide (KALX), send a self addressed envelope to: Mel Cheplowitz/ 852 31st St./ Oakland, CA 94608 . Special thanks to everyone who has fed my flyer habit over the years. This stuff was printed in Maximumrocknroll #35, April 1986. You can visit MRR by clicking here.

Interview with BONEDOG. 1st issue/ 2005 1. Yer name and what you play?Let's see my name is Dwayne Aka Bondog. I grew up in the San Fransisco Bay area, lived there for 17 years. then half way thru my senior in high school My parent's moved to this complete shithole called Redding, California. When my parent's told me that we were moving to Redding, the first thing that entered my mind is "Will there be a punk rock scene there?" So we moved to Redding in Decemeber of 1985. I start high school at this new school in Redding to finish my senior year. Needless to say I had liberty spikes at the time and me being in this complete rednekkk town, I was the outcast. Anyways within the first couple of day's at my school, I met a few people Leenah, Skot, Matt and Lito that are also into punk. They say "were gonna go see the Toy Dolls next week" and they ask me if i want to go? of course I say yes! so i guess things aren't that bad in this shithole of a town, at least there's a few cool kids that are also into punk, but I soon find out that Redding had Never Ever had a Punk Rock show before! Never! Not one! I was used to going to see Dead Kennedy's and whatnot every weekend in the bay area, and it ws a complete shock to me to find out that there had never been a punk show in Redding before! So Skot, Matt, Lito and myself decide to start a band of our own so that we can play shows in this shithole town that had never that never had shows before. So we all bought instruments , Skot ended up singing because he couldn't afford to buy an instrument. None of us had Ever played an instrument before! So Matt bought a guitar, Lito got some drums and I bought a bass. A couple of months later we put on and played reddings Very first Punk Rock Show Ever! Yea sure we sucked at first, but we eventually learned how to play with No Lessons whatsoever or anything, all DIY self taught. Our band was called Snot Labeled. We later ended up playing shows with bands such as Operation Ivy, Mr. T experience, Lookouts!,Isocracy, to name a few. We released a 22 song demo tape and were a band called oOut Of Spite as well. Out Of Spite was a much better band musically than snot Labled was, and eventually Out Of Spite released a 6 song 7" e.p.record on red vinyl, it was completely D.I.Y. We did it all our selves. 2. How di you get into Punk? One day I was scanning the radio for sometthing to listen to and I came across these college radio stations down at the end of the dial that played "Punk Rock" That's how I got into punk, I first heard it on DIY college radio stations in the bayarea such as KFJC, KALX,&KUSF. A few of the punk bands that i heard for the very first time on the radio stations are Suicidal Tendenancies-"Instutionalized", MDC-"Dead Cops", Clash-"Garageland", Ramones-"Beat on the Brat", Pop O Pies-"Fascists eat Donuts", Nails-"88 Lines about 44 women", Negativland-"I am A Man With Four Fingers", to name a few.The year was 1982 3.Tell us about Hard Musical Bite? Hard Musical Bite was an idea that Skot thought up the night before we went to a Dead Kennedy's/7 Seconds show. Skot printed up about ten copies the night before the gig we sold at the show. Needless to say it was complete crap, the typre of stuff that you take home and wipe with yer ass. As time went by, HMB rag got much betterand we ended up doing interviews with bands such as Verbal Abuse, Maggot Sandwich, GG Allin &th Scumfucs, Attitude Adjustment, Offspring (before anyone knew who they were), Vas Deferenz, Wasted Youth, OPbituaries, Dead Silence, Mr. T Experience, Isocracy, Feederz, Resist, C.O.C., Wimpy Dicks and Social UnRest. hard Musical Bite was a fnazine from 1986 until about ten or eleven years. We only did 10 issues though. maybe in the future I'll do another issue. 4. Thanks for the History of Dangerhouse. How do you know so much about it?( For those of you who saw the 1st isse, or haven't it had a Dangerhouse discography of releases..Bad Ass label releasing 15 records from July of 77 to January 80. Avengers, Dils, X to name a few. All 7"s, that require some looking..) ~Basically from being an avid record collector. I bought my first record in 1975, and then when I got into Punk Rock in 1982, I beacame more and more obsessed with vinyl records, and I started collecting obsessevly. when i heard bands on Dangerhouse for the first time in 1982, I knew that I had to collect all of the lables discography. I know so much about Dangerhouse records from collecting and studying information I could find on the internet after it was developed. I have colected the complete Dangerhouse discography over the years, and become very fascinated and knowledgeable about the label. 5. How did 924 Gilman start and your involvement? Gilman started in 1986 with people including myself that volunteered their time and energy into developing a venue that was unique to other Punk Venues. 924 Gilman was initially funded by MRR fanzine which put up 40,000 to get it going, with the help of volunteers. My involvement with 924 Gilman was building the place, actually nailing nails into the place, attending member ship meetings and putting 110 percent of my time into the place. 924 Gilman is now the longest running all volunteer run punk clubin the world 6. advice for people wanting to build a DIY space like Gilman? Time, Energy and Determination. 7. What activities are you involved with today (taken from first issue 05) I got burned out on playing with bands for many years and Hard Musical Bite folded awhiile back , nowadays I spport the scene by seeing shows. 8.Favorite show you ever saw? I've literally seen thousands of shows, but a few that stand out in my mind are: Toy Dolls, Buzzcocks, Vice Squad, Chelsea, Misfits, Crucifix, Bad Posture, Dead Kennedy's, operation ivy, Isocracy, Crimpshrine, Lewd, Dickies, Code of honor, Sick Plesure, JFA, Ill Repute, Verbal Abuse, to name afew. 9.Anything you want to share I forgot? Punk is a Lifestyle Never Give Up the Fight! Alternative Clique 1st show Aug. 2006 A Quarter of a Century on the Scene Punk Rock is Dead, but Not for Me Hot Topic Kids, they're All I see So Trendy, It's Idiocracy (CHORUS) Couloured hair they look the same Studs and Spikes became So Lame Trendy, Trendy can't You See I'll Never give in to Conformity No Originality, They're All the Same Green Day and Nofx to them is Dead Kennedys and Black Flag to Me Mtv tells Them it's alright but Punk Rock is My Life Negative Trend and Rik L. Rik Are the Real Punk Rock shit Hot Topic Punk Can suck My Dick

Hi, my name is George Tabb, and while I really HATE to do THIS, I have to ASK for YOUR HELP.
Actually, it makes me angry to no end to even have to think about doing this. You see, I was living by the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 when those mass murderers attacked our country and killed a lot of my friends.
To make things worse, they left a mess that OUR OWN GOVERNMENT denies exists. What kind of mess? The debris from two of the largest buildings in the world collapsing. While common sense would tell ANYONE that the air is dangerous, especially with the fires burning and all, our own government with THE EPA lied to our faces.
They said it was safe, and we should continue to live near the smoking crematorium.
AFTER getting sick and doing some of my own investigating, I found, what of course, were shocking results. The air WAS POISON and it WAS going to KILL PEOPLE. Hell, it was already making people with pre-existing conditions a lot worse. You know, like if you had asthma, it was harder to breathe. The same thing happened with my stomach.
Did anyone believe me?
Not really.
So I took action. I went on TV, in magazines, and in newspapers, telling anyone I could that this was not a good situation. Mostly I was laughed at and called controversial. Then when our government started offering EVERYONE in New York City FREE air filters, I could see a pattern emerging.
Fix this giant wound with a band-aid.
Well, that wound has grown into a full blown infection that is now killing residents, workers, and rescuers alike. And that includes ME.
Why do I hate this so much? Because I'm the one who saw this coming a mile away. I said everywhere I could there was going to be fallout and cancer clusters. Most people's answers were to snicker behind my back and call me "Henny Penny". People like Fox News.
Well folks, the sky did fall, and now I'm sick.
A TON of money was raised for 911 victims. Where is that money? The hell if I know. I got some of it to help me move away after a year and a half of living hell. A little. A very little. And, everything I owned ended up in a landfill in Staten Island.
Now it's 2006, and I have found myself bankrupt and divorced (very related to 911), and really sick.
I have had over a foot of my large intestines removed, two more surgeries on that area, and now, a raging infection that seems to be very "mysterious".
My doctor tells me I need all these expensive tests to find out what's going on before I die, and when I turned to our own government, all I have faced is red-tape, and the sorry excuse that "there just isn't funding available for this sort of thing". It makes me want to break things.
I KNEW THIS WAS COMING.
I can't work because I can't stay healthy, or even get healthy, and the hell if I'm going on public assistance. Because that's just what they want. Me to be another "victim" of this whole mess, and have to depend on them, when they lied in the first place - enough so that lots of us are sick.
NO.
I'm asking for your help. I need donations. Money sent to me through the address given or even better, through the PAY-PAL thing I've set up. And I need this money quickly. The clock is ticking away and if the doctors can't find what's wrong with me and treat it on time, well, just add my name to that list of those who perished on September 11th.
This SUCKS.
I've done benefits for others all of my life, and it's come to this. Having to ask for money to SAVE MY OWN LIFE. Many of you may think just because I have 2 books out, and stuff like that, I've got funding. Truth is, fame and fortune do NOT go hand in hand. I'm broke, and don't know what to do except this. I will be very happy if people buy my books, so please do. But right now, if I don't get some help, I won't be able to write anymore. And that's what I want to do. Write more books, live a normal life, and continue to speak out and help those around me.
So please, give whatever you can. Because the United States Government acts like I don't exist. And that's a damn shame. Because I LOVE this country. I love America. For the opportunities it affords to all of us. There is no place better on the planet. I love what America stands for. Truth, Justice, and Freedom.
And I'd die for this country. But I just don't want to go out like this. Not this way. It's just wrong.
Thanks - George Tabb (May 2006)
NEW!!!
Everyone, thank you for everything, but, I still need your help.
I've been through too many surgeries and hospital visits, and truthfully, I can't pay for them. I can't even afford to go see doctors now - and need too. This whole mess has left me weak and sick - and depressed. So please....
I am very vocal on this issue, appearing in magazines and newspapers, and have even been talking to The Mayors office and to Senator Clinton's office.
Clinton's office told me that the republicans turned down a bill to help some of us sick people, and we'll have to wait for the next session. COME ON.....some of us may not make it that long. This in not a right vs. left issue...it's right vs. wrong. It's wrong to let volunteers, first responders, residents, workers, and most of all, firemen and cops get sick and die - and without dignity.
I was really angry last week when I saw on the news that the government is allowing funds to "study" people sick and dead from the post 9/11 fall out - but there is no money to help them. Help us. This means they will study us like lab rats..which they've already been doing. Like with the WTC health registry. They want to try to establish a "link", if there is any, between the people who are sick and people who died, and the dust from 9/11. That's like looking at a bunch of corpses riddled with bullet holes and wondering what killed these people. COME ON.....
Please...help me so I can continue to get medical help, get better, get perscriptions that I need, and help others in the same situation as me, and just others as well. As I've done all my life. I wish I could work. I wish that, hell, I could leave the house for more than a couple of hours at a time...but my immune system is shot. I'm trying to work from home...but that's a work in progress.
Anyway, please help anyway you can. Donate some money, put my banner on your webpage. Anything. Like I've said, I saw this comming, and now it's here, and now, NOW, the media is paying attention. But nothing is being done to help....not yet. And time is of the essance...
How many more familes have to be destroyed from that horrible day before our government takes care of it's own? How many families have to live with this frustration - and remain silent or they'll lose their pensions?
How the hell can we rebuild Iraq if we can't even take care of our own?

--George Tabb, February 2007Hi, my name is George Tabb, and while I really HATE to do THIS, I have to ASK for YOUR HELP.

This interview is taken from the 1st issue, 2005. the above graphics from there website..www.missionofburma.com...
1.Your name and what you play?
Clint cooley, bass, vocals, guitar
2.How did Mission Of Burma start?
Roger Miller and I were in another guy's band (the Moving parts, and we decided we were on the same wave length, so we broke off to create our own thing. We shared a love of aggressive rock, and working with ideas, without killing the spirit of the sound.
3. Were you involved with Ace of Hearts records?
A.O.H. signed Burma early on. We made a few records with Rick Harte producing.
4. Tell us about the early releases and shows?
Our first release was Academy fight song/ Max Ernst--a 45 that got a fair amount of play in Boston--even on commercial radio--and some notice in the national underground scene. It was championed by the NY rocker, at the time a pretty influential rag., so when we'd travel to other cities, a handful of music geeks would show up to check it out. Our live presentation, was pretty noisy and sloppy compared to the studio stuff, so people we're often confused.that was followed by a 6 song ep, signals, calls and marches, which did ok too, on our modest scale. college radio gave that's when i reach for my revolver and This is not a photograph a pretty good ride. we were happy. then we put out 'vs'--a full lenght lp in 82 or 83. It had the the best sound of anything we'd done to that point, though some lamented that there wasn't a 'hit' like acad or revolv. still, it was our best. The shows ran the gamut--we had a good following in Boston--in NY we played big places--good crowds in DC, SF. But in other places only a handul of people would show up. they were happy we were there though, so it wasnt too depressing. we were, for the most part, surprised anyone wanted to hear us at all. We didn't thinkwe fit in anywhere--not with the burgeioing hard core scene, not with the effete, beat driven anglo stuff. But the fact we didn't sound like other bands may have been the key to whatever continued relevance we have today. Our sound wasn't neccessarilly linked to any particular time period.
5. Who wrote the music and lyrics?
Roger and I wrote our songs seperately, later Peter Prescott, drums, began writing.
6.what did you dig into lyrically?
Personally, i dug different lyric styles--from meth baroquee of mark e smith to the homespun, simplicity and depth of Neil Young (at his best--he could write some stinkers)
7. How did the break-up in 1983 and the reunite in 2001 come about?
Roger was concerned about his hearing, so he quit, and Pete and I (and martin Swope, tapes, decided that was it. The release is still hard to explain. we were zll ready for different reasons to try playing again. For one thing, we'd always remained on good terms with each other--we didnt smash up with ill feelings, for another Michael Azerrad's our band could be your life featured a chapter on us. we were surprised to be with such great bands, and were jazzed about that--it sort of restored the flames.
8. did you do any other bands during that time period or currently?
you mean covers? a fair amount. Iggy, Flipper, Pere Ubu in the olden days- Avengers, Pink Floyd, Cream, the Dils to name a few recently.
9. what is it like being back togethor?
it's been a wonderful., unexpected thing.
10.How did on/off happen?
we'd been writing songs since reforming, to keep our shows from being a Living History Exhibit. They piled up and we had to do something with them.
11. What are your record plans and tours for the future?
We just got done recording our 2nd cd for Matador in Oct., to be released in May. We'll probably follow up with some gigs around the us, maybe Europe.
12. Closing Comments
the whole thing's been wierd

1. yer names and what you play?
`I'm jason crumer and i play guitar and do vocals, the other yahoo's are ryan wolfe on drums and waylon riffs on bass and vocals.
2. How did Facedowninshit originate both the name and band, original members?
`Fdis started in 99' to open for a friend's band in greensboro. We wrote four songs in four days, all of which would end up on the demo. it got slowly more serious and I think better, although some probably disagree. The origin of the name,eh, Kevin said it in some other interview, if i remeber correctly he took xanax and drank ton's of mad dog and woke up with his head in kitty litter, not 100% on that, like if the cat shit was in a litter box or just on the floor or if it was yellow or purple or red mad dog but yeah, that's how we came up with such a stupid name.
3. previous bands?
fdis was my first band, in hindsight, but the other dudes were in rentamerica.
4. Do you still consider yourselves from Greensboro?
no.
5. Your tape release from 1999 beacme a cd collection called Shit Bloody Shit on crimes against humanity records, how did that come about?
Shit Bloody Shit is less about the demo and more about the Lp and 10",the demo, we considered, was more likebonus material. There's a certain group who likes that tape more than anything we did in the 6 years after that, which is kind of cool i guess. It came about after Nick and I had been in touch for awhile. at the time it was a discography. I'm glad it came outbecause it's everything with Chris. "Passing Times" is everything with David, and from here on out it's just Kevin, Ryan and I, which of course minus Chris is the original line-up.
6. The songs you are currently writing how do they differ from the Crimethinc lp, Passing Times? both musically and lyrically?
There's not a ton of difference in the lyrics except this time we weren't as hesitant to write more political lyrics. You know being on Crimethinc was a wierd move for us, lot's of people gave us shit (i still swear it was just fine for me, personally) so we were kind of more vague than we would normally be. The enw music is hard to judge, it's definately different, I mean we're a 3 piece now, so that's a big change. In that time we made (again in hindsight) a conscious step to kind of clean stuff up, and i'm happy to say we won't be making that step on this album. so expect a rawer record, with the 'fuck you' feedback we used to always do and stopped in that time period. the lyrics are just kind of"punker" and maybe a little dumber, for instance, we have a song about selling plasma that talks about how much easier it is to get drunk after they take your blood out. It's going to be rawer in everyway, no effort to spare offending anybody's little sensibilities will be made on this one. I guess it's less compromising.
7. Favorite shows that you've played?
Richmond, Va. and Chattanooga, Tn. are my two personal favorite places to play. Portland, Or. can be a blast on the right night and same with Philly, again, on the right night. Richmond and Chatanooga shows almost gurantee that we'll be seeing the sun come up at some fucked up after party just way too wasted to even think about playing the next day.
8.Who writes most of the lyrics and what do you like to address in your songs?
Kevin and I write most of the lyrics. I personally like to address class issues, it's just fun to scream 'fuck the rich' at rich punk kids. I dont do much of that anymore in FDIS since chris isn't with us. Him and I used to feed off each other and really kind of go overboard in what I think was a good way. Now it's just what Kevin and I can agree on. the songs tend to be more general. I mean, we've never been a band to say "in 1905" or whatever but it's much more broad. Generally the things Kevin and I have in common are depression, alcoholism, and a kind of desire to be more personal than the first albums. Hopefully they won't be as over the top as on "passing times"maybe a more general, for other people than us kind of lyric writing style.
plans for upcoming releases and tours?
Touring the south of the usa in march. touring the rest of the usa in April, possibly touring it again with some surprise guests in May.
Is it hard to practice and play shows being spread out?
yes.
What is it like working with Relapse and when will the new release be out? What formats will it be available?
It's nice to actually be on a label. Maybe they'll put out ads and stuff. The new album "NPON" will be available on cd and lp in march(we hope)

Formed by Animal and Magoo in 1980, biker buddies with nothing better to do than play some drunk anthems and hardcore tunes, taking the world by storm in the process.
How did you get the name Animal?
I got the name Animal from the song of the same name..it sort of stuck although i was singing about your average "mr.nice guy"...in the early days when we performed it live the audience used to shout about you're an Animal..i hated it at first but over the years i kinda got used to it...
. How would you describe your stage presence?
As the frontman of the ANWL it has always been an experience!!! we set out to be the "Anti-band"..you know the sort of stuff...getting banned from everywhere, pissing people off(musicians especially)...banned from tv, radio, etc., etc..in the early 80's it was a very aggressive time..gangs, riots, poverty we had the lot...we set out to just piss people off..maybe for a year or two...25 years on and we have sort of become part of the "furniture"..and as we all know...musicians are so fucking boring..
how would you describe the Anti-Nowhere-League?
The ANWL got their inspiration from all the shit-heads around us....if people were not as stupid as they are then we would not exist..long may they continue being idiots....
Any other bands that you sang for?
No i have not been in any other bands...as you may have realized i think the music industry stink's that's why we have never taken it seriously, let's face it it's a load of old bollox really..if you want adoration or musical acknowledgement then you are listening to the wrong band...The ANWL are the only real 'anti band' Long Live The League...Animal
