I absolutely loved the movie & was really touched by her speech. For me, as an indie artist, I can only fathom how amazing it would be to see your dream reach it's fruition, here's what she said:
"Hi everyone. I just want to thank you so much. This is such a big deal, not only for us, but for all other independent musicians and artists that spend most of their time struggling, and this, the fact that we're standing here tonight, the fact that we're able to hold this, it's just to prove no matter how far out your dreams are, it's possible. And, you know, fair play to those who dare to dream and don't give up. And this song was written from a perspective of hope, and hope at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are. And so thank you so much, who helped us along the way. Thank you."
..so here's to possibility

that thing you do when you read about someone of prominent media stature, passing away in a tragic fashion?
You go through the steps: how, when, where, why? No matter who they are, you imagine the day before & wondered if you, or someone passing them on the street, could have told them to do things differently tommorrow. You google their name over & over, searching for more details on what happened & each link gives you about 5% more than the last. There's something that makes you seek out everyone you know to tell them, to see their reaction. You look at their pictures like an old friend would, even though you never knew them at all.
All the sudden you feel closer to everyone, the world shrinks for a few mins, and it doesn't feel as crowded, it feels ok.
what is it about those moments, that make a sad song, sadder...

There is a really nice write-up of the new album on:
http://tryjm.blogspot.com/2008/01/joe-beleznays-never-change.html
Great site & really humbling review! ---------------------------------------------- Tuesday, January 1, 2008
John's good friend Joe Beleznay from Fairfield, Connecticut, just released his second album titled "Never Change". In highschool John and Joe used to play together with Rich Wolf and Tim Procaccini in a blues band named "Villanova Junction". School's been over for a decade and it seems as if all the guys are still in touch with each other: For example Tim co-produced Joe's album and plays percussion at live gigs and also John invited Joe to join him at a Bridgeport concert.
"Never Change" is a fabulous sophomore album, which sparkles with beautiful melodies and inspiring lyrics. This album is well written, well crafted and extremely well delivered: Emotional balladry, built on a quiet but sturdy folk-pop framework. Combining an emotive and gentle tenor with a simple but elegant guitar line, Joe Beleznay creates music perfect for an easy Saturday afternoon drive. The title track "Never Change" is so believable, that you really think there won't ever be a change. The mellow song "Letting Go" contains a pretty sweet break-down with a groovy interlude and high energized ending. Joe is not here to rock you, but he will surely bring you a sense of peace and perhaps a little longing for a past love.
On an inside note, David LaBruyere ("Farrago Dance Mix") plays bass on the upbeat track "Start Again".
Please check out Joe Beleznay's Myspace to listen to his music.
Here a photo that shows Joe, John and Tim at an 05' gig and a scan of the Spring Jam '95 program:

In only 4 days time, the new album is already a top seller in the "pop" section at digstation.com:
go here: http://www.digstation.com/genre.aspx?genre=pop
and then go to the "top sellers" link, above
This is very cool, considering there are thousands of indie artists on there that have much simpler last names than I do. Thanks to everyone that has downloaded & I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
