leash: (noun) a strap or cord for restraining and guiding a dog or other animal.

OK, So I'm walking over to the post office this morning to mail out some copies of my single "Chickn N Waffles" to Dj Tsunami in Arizona, and I'm stopped DEAD in my tracks by what I see in front of me:a middle aged man with his child on a LEASH! O.M.G!!! What the HELL is going on in the world? Are your toddlers THAT wild and crazy that you have to put them on a leash like they're a runaway dog??? UUUGGHHH! I'm completely appalled by this. I HAD to google this on and find some images:

http://the-baby-boutique.com/harnessbuddy.html

Of course they're marketing this product as "functional and fun"! But what the hell happened to just "being aware of your child" or "holding your child's hand at all times" Gosh, what happens if they decide to walk off? Do you tug on the leash like you would do a dog to let them know to come back????

I know the world is crazy out there.. I know because I am a parent.. And I am a nervous parent at that.. I'm the mother that crawled through the jungle gym with my toddler keeping an eye on him fearing someone kidnappers.. even today I follow my son all around Dave & Busters while he's running around from videogame to videogame, playing with his friends making sure he's not being followed by a child predator... Until my son is a grown teenager, I'm gonna worry.. And even when he is big enough to defend himself, there's a whole new set of worries that comes along with that.. lol...

What ever happened to just good ol' fashion PARENTING and PROTECTING YOUR CHILD. There's ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR "SAFETY HARNESSES" All you have to do is watch your child and you will be fine!

I often get asked as to whether I am single or dating... Ok, truth be told, because of past experiences I have a BIG issue about being claimed :) So, now I handle it as such:
If I am not wearing a ring on my ring finger, that means I am single! So, no matter what the situation, NO RING means NO CLAIM! lol.. But on the flipside, I also DON'T believe in "marriage".. I really just feel it's not quite for me. I don't believe in the "white picket fence/happily ever after" crap society feeds us. What I do believe, is that marriage is a state of mind. And there's no need for a piece of paper to prove you're committed... I do also believe in some form of recognition of that union.. So, rings, tattoos, viral's of blood. WHATEVER FLOATS YOUR BOAT.. To each is own.. lol... But the whole idea that "marriage solves all the problems", or "people changing and making a REAL commitment AFTER walking down the aisle" is doo-doo CRAP!... You'll know if someone is truly committed to you.. It's something you can feel. It's a connection. Don't get it twisted people, I believe in love.. Hell, I thrive on love, I believe in FALLING in love.... But love and being in love is a connection, and there's no need to prove that connection if the two of you TRULY feel it.... DUNN TALK!

Current mood:  tired
I'm sure we all have them.
Last night I couldn't sleep cause I was bursting with new energy and my mind was racing with creative ideas... So I had a great night last night... HOWEVER, my day today went to CRAP cause I didn't get much sleep having to wake up early today... And, when I don't get my rest, I'm super emotional and things get to me too easily.. lol..
I was on the verge of tears today! I just had a moment where everything felt so damn overwhelming! I REALLY had to stop myself and count to 10...

I guess it was just one of those days .. I'm SO glad it's over.. I just need a hug :(

Current mood:SHARING IS CARING
- I was born Nirvanda Savoury Simm-Smith in Toronto, Canada... YES, I AM CANADIAN AND PROUD OF IT ;)
- The "d" in my name is silent. So, my name is actually pronounced "Nirvana". For professional reasons, I decided to IDIOT proof my stage name by taking the "d" out, simply so that I am no longer called NirvanDA! (I was tormented as a child, having to ALWAYS correct people mis-pronouncing my name)
- I was the only girl child growing up in my household. I grew up with 3 brothers. (2 older and 1 younger)
- I've always wanted to be an artist/entertainer/CEO, thus I am a control freak!
- I was a tomboy til about age 15
- I never used to abide by my curfew. As a result, my mother was notorious for showing up at parties looking for me. She even stopped the music at one party and jumped on the mic and asked of anyone knew where I was!!! (how embarrassing)
- My birthday is July 8th... and I am a PROUD CANCER!
- My best friend is also a close relative of mine and her nick name is Abe. She is a Leo and is in Law school on a full scholarship! (I'm so proud of you!)
- My mom who is my 1 supporter is also a LEO, and she is also my best friend. We can talk about any and everything. There was a point when I was a teenager that we didn't get along, but we've both grown and have learned from each other. I love my mom. She's the best mother I could have ever asked for :)
- i did not grown up with my biological father. So I, like many other younger females out there have trust issues when it comes to the opposite sex. I have learned to simply take it one day at a time :)
- The love of my life is my son, who's name is Jaylen Divine. He's my heart, my soul, my everything. ( I love you Pumpkin Pie!)
- I had my son at 18 years old. When I got pregnant, there were people that thought that was the end for me. They told me I would end up never making anything out of my life.... Why don't you ask those same people how life is going for them!! ( I LOVE BEING UNDERESTIMATED)
- I am an avid reader. Some of my favorite titles are:

1) "Don't sweat the small stuff" by Richard Carlson
2) "The magic of thinking BIG"by David J Schwartz
3) "Everything you need to know about the music business" by Donald Passman
4) "The 48 laws of power" by Robert Greene
5) "Think and grow rich" by Napoleon Hill
6) "Wendy's got the heat" by Wendy Williams

these are just a few books that I have in my collection.. But they are GREAT reads!

- I did not go to College. But I continuously educate myself through reading and personal experiences. I do plan on going someday :)
- I have a small circle of friends who all pretty much know each other, or at least know OF each other.
- I don't believe in X-boyfriends. Once they're an X there's no longer a reason for us to be friends.. lol
- I've had my heart broken many times, but still believe at some point I will find a love that's meant to be mine... ALL MINE!
- People tend to think I'm a bitch, but I'm really just about my business. However, I'd rather be remembered as BITCH than not be remembered at all.

To be continued!!!!

I just no longer believe...
When you fail me time and time again, how am I supposed to trust?
Am i supposed to hurt each and every time until I get it right?
They say experience makes you grow, but in this day and age, experience only makes you more guarded. And so I stay guarded. Until someone calls me a coward for no longer believing. So I take a chance, only for you to fail me again.
I spend restless nights, pondering how to get it right:
Career, family,love and life.
Does it still exist?
Can I have it all?
Will I have it as I see it?
I see it, but will you let me attain it?
Or is there a sacrifice to be made?
So far, you seem to keep my joy tucked away..
til the day you feel its mine to reclaim.

LOVE. I longer believe it.
until the day i can feel it.

Til then, Loves gone away.

10) When people from your past you don't care to be in contact with stalk you via MYSPACE and FACEBOOK! (cause they got nothing else better to do with their time)

9) When you ex breaks into your email and reads through your life for 3 years! (cause he's an absolute lunatic)

8) When people misinterpret comments they see on your myspace page, and have the nerve to question you about it! (it's not that serious people)

7) People who don't clean their bathrooms! (THAT'S JUST NASTY)

6) People who SMELL LIKE ASS AT THE GYM! (hygiene people... HELLO!)

5) People who act like they're doing something in life, and they're only fooling themselves! (ya'll know who you are)

4) People who ACT LIKE THEY'RE BALLING at the club, and drive off in a Pinto! (LMAO)

3) When a man insists on buying you a drink at the club, and then thinks he owns you for the rest of the night! (NOT!)

2) When your child's father has the NERVE to assume that his chump-change child support payment he makes 3 times a year is going to your personal maintenance! (Ni**a PUH-LEEEEASE)

1) "HARDCORE STREET RAPPERs" who get more emotional, and cry more often than I do. (Sorry, only my son gets that attention! BIAATCH.. you KNOW who you are)

This afternoon I had to remind myself that I made a conscious decision last year that I would no longer download music for free... As I was ABOUT to download a song by DREAM entitled "ditch that ni**a", I quickly shut down my limewire, and proceeded to iTUNES to purchase the song. (it’s a funky club record by the way... You should take a listen and maybe buy the song too if you like it)
But other than me being in the music business and understanding how sales have dramatically decreased because of these file sharing sites where we can get millions of songs for free, I asked myself what really made me buy the record:
It really just came down to loyalty and being a true fan of the artist. It’s simple, I appreciate DREAM’S work. Afterall, he is an amazing songwriter, (if you didn’t know, he’s best known for writing Rihanna’s hit single UMBRELLA") and I overall love his sound. Plain and simple..

I’m curious, whether you choose to download music for free, or you faithfully buy, what ultimately influences your decision???

Holla back.. Inquiring minds wanna know....

Love ya!

Current mood:  thoughtful

The end of the year is here, and I'm still in disbelief 2007 came and went so fast!

There is much to be said about 2007, but these are the most important lessons I've learned this year:

1) Make decisions based on what makes you happy, not what brings you momentary pleasure.

2) Do not expect people to deal with you how you would with them. You face less disappointments this way.

3) MONEY IS A BY-PRODUCT OF SUCCESS...When it comes to money, there's no such thing as friendship. People tend to show their true self when a million dollars is on the table. Furthermore, it's ridiculous to argue over money that doesn't exist, so focus on the goal because the money will come.

These are the 3 most important lessons I've learned this year. Please feel free to add or share your thoughts!
