Tuesday nights are always a bit dull......... - it it took The Tonics a bit of extra energy to pull themselves on stage this evening!  Having a smoke before a show may not always be the best approach I must admitt but there was a requirement for something before performing to only a few faithful followers & the bar staff!!

With little energy from any of the five - again a job done! Feedback actually said the vocals were probably at its best for sometime - so we managed to achieve something non the less!!

The Ripps followed on after The Tonics and showed them how it should be done - performing with sack loads of energy and child like excitment!!  Off to Glasto now - lucky buggers!! - I rekon I'd like to see them again! Long live The Ripps!!!!.....as they say!

As if I hadnt seen enough of the law this year to last me a life time!! Here I was expected to share a stage with them!!.........thankfully it was the much touted mates of The View rather than Grampian C.I.D. that were warming up with a bit of fitba in the tunnel pre-soundcheck!!

The Tonics blasted through their set including newest track 'Ricochet' to quite a throng for a Tuesday night....obviously here to see The Law not us!!....but none the less providing us with the necessary support to avoid us feeling like second raters!!  Another job done without a hitch - even with the return of the mighty tambo!!  A residency at The Tunnels is still on the cards me thinks!!!

The Law pile on stage shortly after we vacate it having complimented our performance - which is always nice! And yes they seem like nice lads to boot!

Worth a look if you havent caught them yet, with several upcoming fixtures at a festival near you soon i believe!

The Tonics headlined a charity event on Saturday night in aid of Cornerstone Community Care at The Tunnels ( Yes the tunnels again!!) with support from the fantastic City Rises and The Maydays (originally from Wick).  Despite competition from various other events throughout Aberdeen on Saturday night a reasonably sized crowd gathered to witness The Maydays first live appearance in the Granite City! Having already played pretty much everywhere else apart from Aberdeen - The Maydays kicked off the event at 9pm!+ Before, between and after the bands Mr Yogi entertained the gathered throng with an ecelectic mix of indie old & new!+ Next up The City Rises - a definate must see for local indie fans - a breath of fresh air to the often jaded scene! The Rises with projector in hand delivered a set which many in the audience were comparing to the likes of Death n Vegas & Doves - playing a stirring atmospheric set, while images of war and atomic bombs shadowed them on stage!+ Then, following a particularly long day of waiting in pubs - trying not to consume more than was required to stand and hold an instrument and strut, but enough to forget the gloom of a particularly boring and despairing FA Cup Result - The Tonics took the stage! With an hour set in hand The Tonics ripped up a performance from the very soles of there shoes in an effort to remind everyone why exactly we had put ourselves top of the bill! And it seemed to work! It is without doubt, The Tonics played with energy and passion and despite a couple of early blips Moyes managed to get back on track and complete the set - without anyone noticing - we think! Well covered Steven, Billy, Nathan & Ian - a sign of true pros!! The night was an opportunity to give latest song Ricochet a run out fore the first time live - and it appeared to catch on - much to Chubs delight!! It even gave Moyes the opportunity/excuse to shake his hair and unleash that rather crazy dancing as he resurrected the Tambo after 18 months! Sweat from brow spraying everywhere! Nice! Mr Yogi entered the stage left half way through the set, pinched the Tambo and tried to encourage Ian to perform some shoegaze guitar stylee which he imediateley bowed to before Moyes ejected Yogi from stage right by the scruff of the neck!! No ones gonna take over our show!!!!!!

The Tonics joined Club NME for the first time Tuesday night alongside Elevation, The Tigerpicks (NME Tour Band) & The Andy Davidson Band.  On stage first - the half hour performance was clinically professional to the point even Ian struggled to swagger on stage in his usual manner.  I have to admit it seems to get harder performing to half (ok maybe a tenth full) audience!  God bless the travelling support from the coast who also appeared to be struggling to build up much enthusiasm!!

Another Tuesday gig out the way!! Will we ever see any kind of underground gig backing movement in Aberdeen we can actually get excited about??  And why do I not trust men who use hair straightners hhmmmm?????

One bonus I suppose - its always good to get paid to practice!! And yes there is light at the end of the tunnel - or tunnels....?? - The Tonics have finally pulled their finger out and yes WE WILL BE RECORDING IN APRIL!!!! HURRRAHHH!

Yes armed with a fistful of new material and a vey exciting new tune penned by Chub only two weeks ago - they look likely to be burned to plastic very soon! Don't worry friends we will keep you updated at the very point they are available for your sweet little ears to listen to!!!!

Current mood:  jubilant

Yes its Monday again and.......... god...... no its nots not happy!!!

According to my mates in the North its quite normal to have extremely poor vision and still be walking like an astranaut on a Monday!!  I think we left our heads in The Tunnels somewhere Saturday night!

Get to the point I hear you cry - well you try doing this while looking at six keyboards!!

Yes as you might gather the faqll out has somewhat overshadowed quite a triumphant night for the five!! Although a poor crowd were gathered for this historic event, the band had pumped themselves up to the max!!!

The Band ripped through their set like Chub rips through a bottle of Buckie!! And there the story ends with much hand clapping and jubilant cheering for more from The Tonics!! (Basically cause i cant be arsed giving any more detail - am off to my pit   - you'll just have to make sure your sorry arse is at our next gig!! Don't worry we'll keep you posted & plagued with plenty reminders!!)

In actual fact were playing tonight at Cafe Drummonds!! Sssshhhiiiitttteeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After an early dispute on who was taking the stage second the Tonics won out with the threat their could be an army arriving from the Broch at any time!! A mashed up set - just to be different - was the call!! The band kicked off the evening with a spirited rendition of '95' just to break the large crowd in gently!!  Glad to be part of a weekend set again The Tonics thrashed through their set in what felt like a few minutes!  Reduced to a six song set due to the fact four bands were playing, those in attendance seemed plesantly surprised by the five shabby looking tonics output!  The set ended with 'Night Falls' with the usual spirited enthusiasm & a last quite appropriate reminder to always wear a condom!!  Feckn politicians, rock n rollers & now health care advisers!!!!

Also on the bill were Kilmoray Day Trip & The Myriad Creatures - fine fellas that can also spin out a tune or two worth a listen!!

The Tonics supported The Bishops on Tuesday night with Butterfly Bang - playing to a rather empty cavern!! Other than a few invited Tonics friends and a couple of my hairdressers & friends the audience was bleak!! Apparently some pink haired american was playn the AECC, while everyone else in Aberdeen chose to watch the tims beat Man U (don't worry they won't last!!) despite the bill on the chalk board outside the Tunnels!! A full set for a change, was the order of the evening from an accommodating Hen! Finally The Tonics had the chance to play 'Smile', another tune which has been waiting in the lines since their return to form!! Another job well done by all and positive feedback from all in attendance! The Tonics are currently lining up two gigs in December and notification will be posted here, hopefully, very soon! The Bishops are currently touring Britain and are somewhere in the middle of England at the moment - a previous NME tour band they are worth a wee look if you get the chance! Till next time

Another outing on a school night is over and everyone survived in one piece this time (I think!). Despite the fact Moyes wasnt feeling 100% and expecting his voice to give way at any point The Tonics took the stage second at 10.30pm and lashed out a fine performance despite not having met for practice since the last outing on the 20th Oct. Moyes armed to the teeth with a couple o drams, a couple of bottles o stella & a glass of water(well you have to be prepared for anything!!)strolled on stage and went into autopilot for the duration. Despite the fact there was such a small crowd gathered - the response couldn't have been better!!

Thanx to the Wildcards for all your top feedback - cheers!!

Next up The Tunnels 21st November...........
