It's funny, the days I have to get up the earliest are the nights I stay up the longest...
This is hard. I mean this whole thing: paying rent, eating well, saying the right things at the right times, caring about—and thus worrying about—family and friends, knowing what to do next - yeah, and how much is that gonna cost? Insurance for your car, your house, yourself... I'm really so fortunate. But I forget this easily. I ignore it.
You see, little things - they keep me up at night - I worry about them. They probably don't even matter, but I can't put them down. If I close my eyes they peer at me from inside of my eyelids, if I sit up and turn the light on, they look like shadows and feel like the bits of my face I can't cover with the blankets. All exposed like.
These worries: strange things.
I can't even remember them in the morning. No, sometimes I can. Some are actually legitimate worries, but most are usually out of my control, like: what happens next?
I like to worry about my job a lot. Am I focused? Am I driven? I thought I was; I was yesterday, why can't I be today? Did I work hard enough? Well enough?
And suddenly, like a jolt, every one of these worries is slapped in the face with a loud buzz from the alarm clock. Another night in the can.
Another early morning.
Thank God for Fruity Cheerios.

"Well, if you don't have its name yet, what is the working title?"
This has been asked throughout the life of our new recording project. Honestly, we've just been calling it, "the record".
You think I would be close to having something picked out by now. I mean, now that the recording is actually finished and "the record" is in the hands of our mixer Dave. It's kind of like taking the baby home from the hospital and calling it, "the baby" while you get used to it being in your house.
Maybe that's better. Maybe everyone should do that. What if "Dora" or "Steve" - being a name you picked out in advance - doesn't "go" with your baby. I mean, what if you take the baby home and it looks more like a "Hoover" or "Grace".
Maybe, in the movie Dirty Dancing, the Housemans stuck with "Baby" for this very reason.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
I know what I'm doing right now. I do; I admit. I am trying to come up for an excuse for not having named "the record" yet. Honestly, I don't even know what it looks like because I don't have artwork either.
Wow.
What is going on here? I think I understand "The Beatles" (The White Album) now.
Good one, guys. You procrastinators...

I wonder if my letter will arrive on time. Happy New Year everybody! Thanks for sticking around so long and waiting for us to get off our butts and write this new record. (We're SO excited!) 2009 is going to be a lovely year. It rolls off the tongue: "two thousand nine." Beautiful. We love you!

I did it again. I told myself I wasn't going to, but I did it anyway. I ate way too much. And not "uncomfortable" too much, I somehow ignored the warning signs, and before I knew it, well, I'm close to explosion.
I can't say no to the cookies. Or the pie. I can't say no to the Mac n' Cheese (heck yes Mac n' Cheese. It's more festive than you'd think.) I can't say no to the potatoes or the salad. The bread. Love the bread. I can't say no to the stuffing, or the, or the, or the...
I hope you're having amazing holiday(s). Stay warm and safe and snugly. Put on a rockin' CD. Just remember, we love you and appreciate you (and your votes!) so don't eat until you explode.
