Halo-8 Entertainment has formally picked up the rights to NYHC!! (www.halo8.tv)

March 25, 2008 is the date when a Very Special 2-disc DVD set of the legendary NYHC Documentary will be available and will contain the following:

Disc 1:
The film (duh) with subtitles in English, Spanish, German, Dutch, French and Japanese + an audio commentary track by Frank Pavich (director), Stephen Scarlata (producer) and Kevin Gill (SFT Records).
• The original promo trailer
Bonus live footage of each band (multiple complete songs)
Deleted scenes (an alternate intro, segments on DMS, fights, moshing, religion and more)!
Bonus footage (segments not included in any rough cuts but which are interesting and/or funny in their own right). These include: Chris Wynne & In Effect magazine, Loki from District 9 and his pet baby crocodile (for real), Ezec talking shit, the Philosophy of John Joseph, Jimmy Gestapo and Todd Youth remembering Chuck Valle and much much more!
Newly edited segments culled from footage at each of the key venues we shot at in 1995 (Coney Island High, the Pipeline in Newark and the Northport Pipeline in Long Island).

Disc 2:
• This disc consists entirely of New interviews (aka Where Are They Now?). Rick ta Life, John Joseph, Roger Miret, Freddy Madball, Myke Rivera, Mike Dijan, Lord Ezec, Kevin Gill, Vic Di Cara, Rob Fish (Rasaraja dasa), Trivikrama dasa & NRSV (this one even includes an amazing private & spontaneous acoustic set by the full band)!
Bonus interviews with important people in the scene who were not included in the original film, such as Lou Koller from Sick of it All and Toby H2O!!
Bonus footage from October 8, 2006, the Last Ever CBGB Sunday Matinee.

Yeah, its pretty awesome if we do say so ourselves. We're talking something like 8 hours of footage here folks!!

There are a lot of movie review websites around, but a really interesting one that you might not be familiar with is Cinephelia. They focus on small, out-of-the-way movies that you've probably never heard of. Very cool stuff that I recommend you check out.

They recently ran a very favorable review for N.Y.H.C. and even listed us as the "Myspace Movie of the Week!". Thanks Clay!

Please check it out at http://cinephelia.com/movie_detail.asp?PK=368 and you can even get a preview of our new artwork. While you're there, explore the site. I'm sure you'll come across some very cool (and weird) stuff.

Enjoy!

As we get closer to our release, a couple of new interviews regarding the NYHC Documentary have recently been posted:

1- AIN'T IT COOL NEWS recently posted an interview we did with them.  For those of you who aren't familiar with it, AICN is a really cool Indie Film News website with reviews, articles and sneak peeks of different projects.  (Ignore the NYHC DVD release date that they list, of course).
aintitcool.com/node/30694

2- Just over the weekend, the ISSUE ORIENTED podcast came online.  This is a very cool hardcore-centric podcast that's up to episode 17.  This episode features a phone interview with us as well as an interview with Ezec (aka Danny Diablo) where he talks about what's he's been up to as well as his thoughts on the NYHC Documentary.  This is a very cool podcast that you should definitely support!  There are 3 ways to check this one out:  You can find it in iTunes (search the music store for 'issue oriented' - and subscribe!).  You can also stream it at issueoriented.com or check it out at myspace.com/issueoriented.

Thanks!

Just a little update on the new elements that have recently been recorded for the DVD extras.

- An updated Ezec interview was recently completed. Its amazing. Like beyond anything you could ever imagine. I've cut it down to 30 minutes of pure madness. He actually came by last week to check out the footage. He watched that piece plus the bonus CROWN OF THORNZ songs that are going to be included as well as the extra 1995 interview footage. He totally flipped out - watching footage of the Coney Island High days, people that he hasn't seen in years, friends that have passed on, etc. It was a really cool experience to get to watch him take that all in.

- I also went to New York for the final CBGB matinée. While there I scored an interview with none other than Lou from SICK OF IT ALL. Of course, SOIA is the ..1 band that people say they wished was included in the original film. He addresses those issues in this interview. Very interesting stuff.

- I also snagged updates from Mike Dijan of CROWN OF THORNZ and Tim and Mike from VOD. That was really fun, to find out their thoughts on the documentary and how all their new projects are doing. And I also managed a new interview with both Roger Miret & Freddy Madball. They go into everything - from the doc to the CBGB's closure to the American Hardcore documentary (they had some really interesting thoughts on that one...)

- Then, as a special treat, I managed to get some footage of the actual show. So if it all works out, I'll be able to include a few songs from each of the bands that night (HARLEY'S WAR, SICK OF IT ALL, MADBALL, MURPHY'S LAW and of course, AGNOSTIC FRONT). Just an interesting little addition to show where the NY scene is right now.

Now my fear is how the hell can I fit this all onto 2 DVDs? Maybe it'll have to be a 3-disc set...

Stay tuned for updates on the release!

Yesterday I flew to Denver for the afternoon to record a new and updated interview with Myke from District 9.  It was a great time and naturally, he had a lot of interesting things to say.  If you enjoyed him in the documentary, you'll love him (and his new look) in the updated features of the DVD.  For legal reasons, I  can't fully disclose all the crazy shit that happened yesterday, but for those who know him, you can probably use your imagination...

I also spoke to Tim from VOD last week.  He is all up for doing an updated interview in NY later this month.  So thanks to everyone who helped hook us up together!

I'm still on the hunt for Cesar from D9.  If anyone has a clue as to where he might be found, hit me up!
