Current mood:  thankful
Hi, everybody. It's been too long!

This Saturday, Saturday, SATURDAY, Sheebs will play our first hometown show since Halloween. We're very excited, not only to play Dante's for the first time, but to share the stage with the Lowe Beats (featuring our patron saint Scott McCaughey) in honoring the 30th anniversary of Nick Lowe's Jesus of Cool album. What do the Bee Gees have to do with Nick Lowe, you ask? Well, we do it all for the love of pop, no? And Jesus of Cool came out in '78, when the world had a serious case of Saturday Night Fever, for which I don't remember any big anniversary soirées. I guess that means there's room for all of us in this mixed up world.

Come on out, kids! And then come out again on April 5th, when we play East End. They're both Saturday shows, so none of those "school night" excuses.

xo,

Ellen SBG

Our last show, at The Towne Lounge, was reviewed thusly:

"It's shambolic. It's sexy.  It's competent. It's melodic. It's just coming right at you and you don't know whether to duck or catch it in your mouth."

And of course our reviewer  mentioned the Shaggs.

Anyway, we have some treats in store for you, oh yes--we just don't know what kind or when at the moment. I hope you like surprises...

Love, The Heather Shee Bee Gee

I like to think of it as our First Big Tour (We're renting a VAN, dude!), though I try and more reasonably refer to it as "the mini tour" in mixed company. In any case, the Sheebs are playing at Le Voyeur in Olympia on Friday, March 2nd and then at the Sunset Tavern in Seattle on the very next night! So exciting! How did we manage to score such smooth weekend out-of-town shows? Hmm… good luck, tenacity and the kindness of some very nice young men. But that's not all! On March 8th, the prodigal daughters return for a free show at the Nest on Alberta with (wait for it… wait for it…) the Faux Gees! Two handsome gents playing sweet ones by the Brothers Gibb, followed up by four drunk ladies screeching like banshees. How can you go wrong?

So what else is going on? Not too much. Recent band conflicts (which one of us will be the new TrimSpa spokeswoman? WHICH ONE??) were easily resolved with a solid pillow fight in our lingerie. What problem won't this solve? We've yet to find out. Anna, the multi-instrumental powerhouse juggling three bands, is such the badass of Portland that she had to fly to Chicago "on business" this week. Interesting. Heather is biding her time until the beautiful new Eux Autres record makes her la vedette du siècle. Meanwhile, Alexita and I are just trying to adjust to the horrors of the 9 to 5. Wait-- for real? We have to get jobs now?

That's that. As we gaze upon a sea of (hopefully) smiling faces, we hope yours will be among them.

Current mood:  enthralled

Well, our show in Seattle was extremely fun. Oh except for a few mishaps. First Alex got a flat tire and so then Ellen decided to drive. After a stop at Burgerville, we noticed the temperature gauge of Ellens biodiesel old Mercedes was in the red. Is it supposed to be doing that? I asked, and Ellen shrugged. Soon, it was smoking, great clouds pouring in the heating vents. We pulled over in Kalama and waited for a tow truck--although the citizenry seemed happy to help out. Guess four girls on the side of the road is a rare occurrence, save for a car wash fundraiser.  Finally, some caravaning friends handed over their vehicle, and we sped away, unthwarted by mere technicalities.

Plans are in the works to record in December; more on that later.

So we have lots of tshirts now. Buy them at shows or email us. We will post images and sizes very soon.

In other news, weve posted recordings. We made them just as an experiment one night, while drinking wine at the picnic table in my backyard. But theyre pretty representative.

Hope you enjoy. Come to our show this Saturday, 10/21 at the Mississippi Pizza Pub.

Love, The Heather Shee Bee Gee

The Shee Bee Gees got it going on.

At our club debut in July (Holocene!), we nearly got in a bathroom brawl with an extremely drunk girl who was talking shit about us (on her cellphone) in the bathroom stall, unaware we were right outside. But then we realized that she has a Bee Gees disability, and the proper response is tolerance and understanding, not hatred. Still, we hope we scared her a little with our girl gang posturing. Those monogrammed switchblades might have helped. . .

On to the future:

This Thursday we will be opening for the 70s classic road film, Two Lane Blacktop. The show is on the roof of the Hotel Deluxe. Fancy!

Next, we play in Seattle with the Minus Five at the legendary Crocodile Café. (Sept 21st).

Finally, we get to take the very David Lynchian stage at Doug Fir in October. (October 15th).

Weve also decided that not drinking at practice is bad, it really messes with our hand-eye coordination--so no more of those hijinks.

Ellen just unearthed some even dustier Bee Gees treasures, so look for more songs. Right now were working on our newest of the old batch: Then You Left Me. Itll break your heart. Were toying with the idea of doing Every Christian Lionhearted Man minus the Gregorian Chant. The SBGs take requests, so feel free. . .

Alex SBG has made some ass-kicking Shee Bee Gees shirts for boys and girls alike. Get yours at a show, or email us.

Hope to see you at one or more of the above.

Love,

Heather SBG

I am the pain in the ass of the band, its true. I just went on tour for three weeks with my other band, Eux Autres, and caused a painful hiatus. But it was worth it, and the Shee Bee Gees love has only grown stronger in our separation. And we have two new songs that were nuts about: "Wine, Women and Song" and "Lonely Days." Look for their debut this coming Saturday at the opening of Mississippi Social Club. We play at 7:00. Be there or wish you had!

Love,
Heather SBG

We are the champions, we made it through the rain, were taking care of business, weve gotta fight for our right to party.

My head is swimming with musical clichés. Maybe its all that hairspray I doused myself with on Tuesday. Speaking of which. . .our first gig worked. It actually worked!!! MWWWAHAHAHA!!!!! If you were nice enough to come see us, thanks, that was nice of you. (pics available under, um, "pics"). If not, you better hurry up and catch our fairy stories in the penny arcade before we go worldwide and youre left with Row S, Side Balcony.

Lots of upcoming shows in the pipe. More details later. One involves a classic 70s film and a rooftop. Titillating, no?

Alex is hard at work on our t-shirts, which, like her, are FINE. So look out for those. And brush up on your early Bee Gees so lots of you can sing along next time. No more requests for Jive Talking, k?

The Shee Bee Gees love you more than we love ourselves. Remember that as you lay your head on your pillow tonight. And dream of the ladies in gold. . .

Love always,
Heather Shee Bee Gee

Im an amayyzing moracca player, and the weirdest part? I don't even know how to spell moracca and really play them all that well for that matter. In any case, the Sheebeegees are the greatest thing to ever hit America. Which is super ironic--no SUPER ironic. Cause when our lovely, tanned predecessors THE BEE GEES came to the motherland, they most obviously thought the same. Bottom line: we are Maurice (not to be confused with the Latin, via Manhattan, Maurice Valdi), Robin and Barry incarne, and if I knew how to make an accent mark over the e I would, but I dont). Finally, see you Toosdee night.

Ok folks, the day of reckoning is fast approaching and The Shee Bee Gees are busy preparing for world domination, one song at a time. Will our collective super powers prove worthy of all the hype? Will Ellen pull off "bass face" with style? Can Heather regain her momentum after 6 weeks lounging poolside with nary a drum in sight? Will Anna finally master a damn 3 chord progression? Will Alex remember to show up? The suspense is killing me as I'm sure it's killing you. You may laugh, you may cry, but you'll never ask yourself why The Shee Bee Gees have become your new favorite band. Custom T-shirts, toothbrushes, beer cozies, pot holders, eyelash curlers, etc., coming soon!
