Fall has settled in with some nice studio weather, and things are popping here at Dubtrain Records this Fall. There's a new Faculty of Dub album out from Clinton Fearon, and I'll be dubbing him & the band live on Nov 29th at Nectar Lounge in Fremont.

Riddim production is in high gear, with vocalists from Sick Donkey Productions coming through on a couple of tracks, and some more dub mixes are on the way, too.

Dubtrain's Classic Rhythm Release, Vol. 1 is underway: I've just finished phase 1 of the project, with all the tracks' rhythm bed built and ready for horns, vocalists, weird noises and various guest stars. This album is on track for a late Spring release. Super classic dub vibes!

Don't forget about Adrian Xavier's new acoustic album, a series of compilation releases from the Toucans Steel Drum Band and the third full-length release from Seattle darlings, the guys of "Awesome".

And as a special treat just for you, I've posted two new beat projects on the myspace player, as a taste of next year's Ouroboros Dub, Vol 2.

Hey Dubtrain viewers, it's summertime, and that means we're all out playing instruments and rockin' some live performances instead of kickin' it in the studio-o-o.

But that doesn't mean things aren't happening in the dub world!  Check the Dub Championz live in Edmonds downtown concert series, 5 pm on Friday Sept 19th, featuring yours truly on the dub soundz.

Also stay tuned for a new Clinton Fearon dub release this Fall, featuring the Faculty of Dub, with a premiere party where I'll be dubbin' live.

And album projects are getting underway for the Fall, with more material by Adrian Xavier, One Million Soundz, The Dub Championz, Stingshark, Scott Sullivan, "Awesome" and much more on the docket here at Dubtrain Records.

  Hey all, the album I've been working on with the Dub Championz is finally complete!  CD's should be back from the factory by the end of the month.

    What did you call me?  Well, it's kinda true: there's been so much action around Dubtrain Studios these days I feel like I'm some kind of audio streetwalker.  But it's all good!

    Highlights of the last few sessions include:
    -- Recording ADX vocals with a U87 and a sweet handmade Telefunken preamp.  Mmmm, tasty!
    -- Tracking some hot horn licks from "Awesome" with the new Fathead ribbon mics from Cascade Microphones (located in sunny Olympia, WA)
    -- Painstakingly comping together the perfect vocal harmonies from 15 takes on 4 vocalists - I just love this kind of stuff.
    -- Soldering another 16 XLR cables for the big tracking sessions coming up next month.
    -- Eating a metric assload of Pringles. Righteous.

Fall is closing with a huge rush of action - the studio has seen several albums, a couple of singles, and plenty of dub & remix cuts along the way.

Sessions this fall have included album and single work by singer/songwriter Adrian Xavier, beats & remix production with DJ One Million, a half-dozen songs with local heroes "Awesome", a complete debut album by The Half Brothers, dub mixes with singer/player/producer Stingshark and lots lots more!

     Staying busy as Fall settles in - the studio is up and running almost every day, with lots of projects coming up for the Winter, too.

    Recent tracking sessions include more Half Brothers material, music for Animal Planet's "Meerkat Manor", an ambient session with Zheng (a chinese zither/harp) and a classically trained vocalist, and more mixdowns & remixes in the ongoing series of One Millions Productions.

This year's Music Tech Summit (at the Experience Music Project here in Seattle) was two days of panels featuring some of the people responsible for crafting the future of music!

Lots of great information about social networking, upcoming tech solution, and tons of good old-fashioned beer chat afterwards made for a fun and informative weekend.
