My podcast for Turbo has just been uploaded! Here's what they say about it:

''Ladies and gentlemen: Steve. He’s 17, he’s from Bromley, UK, and he has a contagious love for sex-funk jams. Real talent in the making here… we are proud to be among the first to champion S-T-E-V-E.

check him out at:
myspace.com/stevenosurname''

For those who don't know, Sid Loves Turbo is Turbo's own series of podcasts, with previous contributors including legends such as Jori Hulkkonen, Zombie Nation and Tiga himself. Get listening at www.sidlovesturbo.com - no downloading or any of that shit, although I've enclosed it with this blog if you really have issues. I basically play stuff I've grown up with, which means everything from B12 to Junior Senior, Prince to the Sonic 2 soundtrack...

In a bizarre turn of events, the remix of Tiga's 'Shoes' I was asked to do by Turbo has appeared on Tiga's new podcast (I'm about 59:50 in):

www.mynameistiga.com
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=220339169
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/tiga/~5/l-VFjT6j3k8/9_1.m4a

As if things couldn't get weirder now Erol Alkan's forum has successfully tracked me down (which is pretty cool, even if I made it sound like I'm scared of them):

http://www.erolalkan.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=233153#p233153
http://www.erolalkan.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?id=20810&p=2

The remix will be coming out on Turbo soon, thus beginning the Turbo-Steve mentalism (actually that's not true, it started at the Undercover NYE party in Amsterdam where my gear broke and these girls assumed I was a DJ and asked me to play Daft Punk - again it was much better than that sounds).

I'm convinced I had something else to write here but I've forgotten, but remember to get Firing Speed Rainbows if you're bored.

Anyhow I think no-one said it better than Tiga himself:
'There comes a point, where every party needs...STEEEEEVE'

yyyyyyyooooooooo

Not one, but two new Steve remixes are now out! The first is for Tom Woxom, on his truly great 'Kickstart' album (a chipmusic album!), namely my fairly radical remix of his track 'Chipset', the 'Vocoder Dudez Version'. Tom's own remix of my track Flybass is also featured. Admittedly both these tracks were available on my Kittenrock release, but this is also available on a very cool CD too (as well as the free download)! Not only that, but the album itself is fantastic, and forward thinking to boot!

Second is my remix for British chipmusic king Jellica, on his extremely good 'Cat Deaths and Other Woes' EP on Monkey Love Records, featuring some pretty big tracks from Blip Festival ('Fett', 'Staring At The Sun', 'Mooo' etc). I appear turning 'Fett' into a strange digital techno jam, in the 'Improbable Paradise Version'. Another wicked release that beats 99.999999999% of all Game Boy music ever made to helpless mush for sure!

More releases and such coming soon as always aiiiyyy.

yoooooo!

A fair few things going on right now!

Most importantly, a new Steve EP is out! This is on the sweet 3'' CD format, and will be available at Retinascan in the coming week or so. Featuring a few live favourites and some more melodic digital electro! Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Firing Speed Rainbows.

The EP is released on the new label S18 Records. We have a host of releases prepared by chipmusic artists and some further afield, all of whom are pretty damn well known guys (and if not they will be for sure). More info on this shit coming soon!!

A strange happy track I made a while ago can be found on CalmDownKidder's suitable mental 'Cheer Up Emo Kid...It's the Happy Compilation!'. Get on it if you have depression, including also a mad track by Goto80 and a very good tune by the J Arthur Keenes Band.

On Friday I played the insane Bit Party - an intense atmosphere, a plethora of great sets and loads of support!! Cheers for that! HUGE thanks also to gwEm and Tryst for making this event happen!! We were even recommended in Time Out! A short video of 'Engine', taken by Mr CalmDownKidder himself should most definitely be checked out now!!

Perhaps I should have posted this earlier, but a recording of the live set from Launch pad in Brussels (20th December) was broadcast by our mates Firstcask on Saturday too! Big up to the FSK crew for this, and also Tristan, Henri (for some reason I called you Max in the radio show!??!?), Murielle, Joost and Maria atLaunch Pad too!

Anyway laterz!!

YOetc

New Steve release out for FREE on Kittenrock!!! Here's what truechiptilldeath had to say about it:

''This release is chipstyle done right. Taking the feel of early 90s chip stuff like the genesis or snes, and combing it with mega hot electro it is both dancing and kicks some hinder.''

So get it! It's free too so you don't need to worry about not having enough money to download Dead Or Alive tracks off iTunes!! EVERYBODY WINS.

Also new live shows going down, including Undercover in Amsterdam on New Year's Eve and London on the 23rd of January.

Radio shows, remixes, more release, etc also coming soon!

http://www.8bitcollective.com/music/Stevens/The+Breaker%27s+Apprentice/

weird lo-fi-ish electro breakdown musing, some guy said it was 'awesome' so you want to download it...yes?

in other news ive been sending around demos like a twat, also checking out projects with some chipmusicians in London (see Shirobon in my top friends - fucking kickass stuff), also been working on a compilation to be given out at gigs with some famous (by my standards) people on it.

should be a rave then
