Current mood:  awake
All students of the guitar and music . .

I've now started giving guitar lessons again after a 4 year break. I'm teaching intermediate to advanced students, preferably on a professional or semi professional level, however guitarists just starting out or players who just want to play for fun are welcome as long as  you're a serious student of the instrument.

My fields of expertise are: Finger style guitar, Jazz, Country and Classical, music theory, composition and general technic. I will pass on what my former teachers Joe Pass and Pepe Romero taught me as well as technics I've learnt and developed myself over the years.

Learning from me will not be easy but it will definitely improve your playing immensely. So only serious students of guitar and music only should apply.

I'll be primarily teaching in the Austin, Texas area, but I'm willing to do coaching sessions with you when I'm in your town and I spend a lot of time in the Southern California area. It is also possible to teach you by SKYPE webcam using paypal as well, if you think that would work for you let me know.

Lessons are $30 per half hour session. I recommend an hour every two weeks or half an hour once a week. Of course mammoth once a month sessions can work as well in some cases.

contact me at lessons@dannybharvey.com if you are seriously interested.

Please pass this info on if you can think of someone who would appreciate it.

thank you

Hey everyone!

Firstly Jim would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has emailed Slim Jim's site, signed his guestbook or messaged him via his myspace since his accident at Brixton - to say we've been inundated would be an understatement! We're completely overwhelmed by your kind and thoughtful messages. We know that those of you who were due to attend one of the HEAD CAT shows are extremely disappointed about the cancellations but your unselfish reaction and heartfelt concern for Jim has really blown us away. You truly are "the best"!

Secondly we wanted to give you an update on Jim's situation. He's back home, taking it easy but in a lot of pain. He will be having surgery on his wrist on Tuesday (16th). He'll be in a cast for 6 weeks or so and will then need physio rehab on the arm. The prognosis is very good and The Phantom will be back bangin' n' yellin' in plenty of time for the Stray Cats Australian tour.

Once again we can't thank you enough for your support and messages. We're happy to know that you'll all be thinking of Jim on Tuesday.

From the Phantom's Lair,

Slim Jim

It is with the greatest regret that we have to announce that the HEAD CAT shows in October has been canceled. We are incredibly sorry for the disappointment that this will cause. As many of you already know Jim fell and broke his arm at last week's Stray Cat's show; specifically he has broken his wrist in 3 places and is now in a plaster cast up to his elbow. He had hoped that he would be able to play next month but as you will understand it is just not feasible for Jim to do this against his doctor's advice. Jim is devastated by this turn of events. Thank you all so much for your understanding and for the kind messages that have already been flooding into the site the accident. Apart from his understandable disappointment about canceling the shows he wants you all to know that he's doing fine and thanks you for your support and well wishes.

My dear friend Flash Bathory passed away in the early morning hours September 3rd at the ripe young age of 19 years, 3 months and 5 days

Flash was an inspiration to me from the moment I met her because I saw the young version of myself in her. Whenever I was in Texas, (or Nashville last month), I'd let her be my guitar tech, hang around with me and I'd introduce to everyone I possibly could, because I knew she was destined for greatness, and she still is.

Although she played in a style of guitar I've never been known for, she was a shredding metal goddess, everyone that saw this 5' guitar prodigy play would stop in their tracks and stare in disbelief at her self confidence and musical ability way beyond her years

She was also a sweetheart and a beautiful person inside and out . . One story out of many I remember is that 3 months ago she drove an hour outside of Austin, to a Honky Tonk dive bar, not even knowing if she could get in because she was under legal drinking age . . All because she said I should have friends around me on my birthday and she wanted to hang out with me on that special day . .

Check out her myspace page and watch t he videos and see what the world has lost. She was only 19 and if she's had live who knows what she would have done in her career. She liked to call herself my protege, which is funny because I probably got more inspiration from her then the other way around.. :-)

My thoughts and best wishes go out to her friends and her family,

I miss you sweetheart! "The world was never meant for one as beautiful as you"

Below is a quote from Tony at Tregan guitars ( www.myspace.com/treganguitars)

Flash was a great artist with talent, drive and potential to make it big in the music world. Like many of the Greats, Flash left us too soon. She will missed and always remembered by those who had the chance to know her. And I am sure she will be welcomed with open arms to the great guitar jam in the sky. Jimi, Stevie, Duane, Randy, Dimebag... Lookout, the goddess of shred is coming!

A great music fan and budding photographer we met up in Portland Jon T. Cruz took these photos of the HEAD CAT when we performed at DANTE'S on Friday, April 13th 2007, of course in Portland Oregon . . . There's not many photos of Slim Jim, but that I believe is because of the cameraman's angle and not on purpose . . . Hope you enjoy them..
