It's amazing how a week spent raving in the desert can affect your life.. There's been a lot of positive stuff come out of my experience at Burning Man, but unfortunately there's been some negative bizzle.. anyway.. here's a review I put together for Data Transmission:

Hey Y'all,

This summer saw the master of dub and bass Gaudi invite me to collaborate on a track for his forthcoming new album (out 2009) This was a big thing for me as I've been working on my solo production for the last two years and to be asked to contribute by this legendary artist was serious pressure for me :)

Anyway, the track 'Bad Boy Bass' is complete and has been smashing it up all summer at festivals accross the globe. Check Gaudi's summer tour video on the left hand side of my page. The first track is our collab titled Bad Boy Bass!

bigness!

An excerpt from an email to Janette Slack about my summer, hope she doesn't mind me sharing this, but says all I want to say and saves me retyping :)

I've had a nothing-shy-of-monster summer. From starting 2008 saying to myself its time to be more sensible, stop going to 101 festivals over the year and take a step forward sort out my finances etc but quel surpise this year has gone completely the opposite way. Cue trips and gigs at three of the craziest parties on Earth...

Starting off with DJing at the opening weekend of the KaZantip festival in the Ukraine... This is a beach festival that runs for 6 weeks every summer on the tip of the Crimea, it was gorgeous. I caught up with Lady Waks and loads of crazy Russian folk, was sick! Back to the UK for 1 week then off to Boom Festival in Portugal, a 7 day rave held next to a beautiful lake 3 hours inland from Lisbon. I played to about 1000 people from inside a massive snail backing onto the lake.

Home for 4 days and then off to States for Burning Man festival, which, OH MI GOSH! Was the single greatest thing I've ever done in my life! I did not know it was possible to have THAT much fun. It really was absolutely fantastic, its a shame our languauge does not have enough creative and descriptive words to fully describe the experience. I DJd on one of the main dancefloors to 2,000 + to one of the happiest, most thankful dancefloors I've ever seen. People where climbing up the front of the DJ booth and giving me gifts throughout my set. It was mad. The DJ booth had a flame thrower located on the roof which when u hit a button by the decks shot 20ft flame over the heads of the crowd, it was crazy watching their reaction. Definitely a recommended experience...

man, I feel so privileged to have had this experience this summer :)

Info:
Tom Real & The Rogue Element Present Disco Of Doom EP 1
Passenger Records:

Rising out of the belly of the underworld comes Disco of Doom, the brand new project from award-winning production and DJ duo Tom Real & The Rogue Element. Spawned from the depths of their monthly on-demand show on leading internet radio station Samurai FM, everything brought forth from the loins of this duo will for ever more bear this accursed name.

The Disco Of Doom is a place of unspeakable depravity from whence, once every cycle of the moon, Tom and Rogue deliver a twisted monthly mix featuring nought but the most reprobate of new releases, filthy new productions from their very own Dungeon of Doom, and exclusive guest mixes from other degenerates who are inspiring the duo or who are just well, rocking tings up proper.

Now the duo have signed a pact with the forces of darkness (AKA Passenger Records) and the time has come to prepare yourselves for the debut Disco Of Doom EP, which is imaginatively titled EP 1 as it is the first of many of Satan's wild love tools of destruction and will be unleashed amongst you mere mortals this September.

With the vinyl release featuring two tracks kicking off with The Click a ragga-tinged, acid drenched, drum'n'bass inspired weapon of darkness ably abetted by Loud & Clear on the flip featuring a well-known UK radio star of the 80s on vocals and a breakdown to send you into hell without a return ticket. Mwwoooo haaa haaa haaa etc.

If you're rolling with the new school the digital release will also feature a very special Fucking Zombie Remix of lead track The Click which sees Tom and Rogue get fruity with the bass and reworking the beats to deliver an alternative ending, a 'happy' finish if you will.

As if this were not enough, quake helplessly and soil yourselves at the prospect of back2back Disco Of Doom DJ dates as the pair depart on a quest with but one purpose - to devastate dance floors across the UK, Europe and beyond.... you are all well and truly doomed!
