here's some press we've gotten over the past year or so-- i included the bad stuff too because i think it is funny/helpful...

"…monster-mouthed Haley Weiner led Gay Deceivers (and guests) in a hyper-vogued, shirts-'n'-skins amateur dance-off to "Into the Groove." The Deceivers, by the way, were the only band to offer a hint of Madonna's meta-theatrical sexuality, and they did it with a big heart and cute T-shirts to boot." –Willamette Week, October 2007

"…Gay Deceivers, who artpoprockscreamed their gorgeous little hearts out and thrilled the audience. They were joined by STS, who beat the shit out of the drums and left them begging for more, and a handful of friends who joined them on percussion and vocals for their final song. The show wasn't revolutionary or exciting, and the Deceivers felt a little more controlled than usual, like they were holding back. But even so, it was a good set and good fun."- Portland Mercury, September 2007

"The Gay Deceivers were ladies in leggings with songs so weird I blushed. The Raincoats did it better, but kudos to these chicks for trying." –Portland Mercury, September 2007

"…let's talk music—awesome. So awesome. Metal guitar sometimes. Lesbionic love (emphasis on the "bionic.") Yoko Onisms (in a good way!) sometimes. Weird, dubbed-out, pop-scapes. Super-insane outsider-y avant song structure. Just go. Let your ears be the judge. And by "judge" I mean JUDY. Fuck that Wapner dude. Unless he's dead—then grave fuck him! Sorry; this band makes me think strange shit."-Portland Mercury, January 2007

"The ghost of Brian Wilson says, "As many hits as we scored I wish our experimental stuff had been further off the page. Y'know, weirder. It's too late now but if I could've done something more like the Gay Decei—wait. Hold on. I'm not dead. Am I? I honestly can't tell." "- Portland Mercury, October 2006

posting things on myspace usually makes me feel all weird and blobby, a la Shiloh, angies 7 month year old, but thought I'd overcome my fear of blobbiness...

Our band needs a drummer/percussionist/collaborator. Please be female-identified. Please be queer identified. If you are neither of those things and super interested still please be VERY VERY SpECIAL in other ways!!!! (like be an extraterraestial or able to juggle 300 blood oranges with your tongue and willing to use these skills to further our happiness)
A BIG plus if you can play other instruments like keyboard, bass, guitar, voice, OMNICHORD, MARIMBA and love to DANCE. (note caps)

This would be sorta full/part-time-ish. We usually play no more than 2 shows a month, are recording a full length with a short weekend away in the spring for shows and a larger east coast tour in the fall.

p.s. thank you California friends! The shows were grand. The times were great. We got compared to "They Might Be Giants" and I inadvertently flashed some underage kids my pussy in LA.
