My brother's new band is totally awesome!

They are called Electric Sandstorm. They're twelve and they go to my old elementary school, Austurbæjarskóli. My brother is the blond solo guitarist, his name is Dagur Sölvi and soon he will be famous.

Wait, don't answer that...

If you are reading this, you know me and inevitably love me.

If you don't you should, because I come from that land where every woman is a goddess, the glacial water is the freshest in the world and where you can pretend that nature is still somehow embedded within the modern Westerner.

So, please, support me and my rare kind by telling Gordon Brown that we are not terrorists! It's not enough that in the course of the countries bankruptcy we are losing our jobs, homes and STUDENT LOANS, we have to smell the Italian leathered toe of Mr. Brown while we chew snow?

(Oh and by the way, go to Iceland for your vacation, it's cheap. God knows I would if I had the time between bombing cafes and planning world dominance.)

James Kochalka is a rock star who makes comic books and an online comic diary that has been running for ten years now.

He says that his life and his art have run together making the mundane seem extraordinary and vica verca.

See the documentary about him and just picture me there in stead of him, OK?

Also, a sample from his online diary:

There are so many thing in this world that I like and want. Lemme show you. Lookit!

First, I came across these beautiful photos by photojournalist Stephanie Sinclair:"The Young Women of the F.L.D.S.". They show the women of the polygamist sect of Yearning for Zion Ranch in Texas go about their daily lives.

The Yong Women of the F.L.D.S.

Secondly, I'm in love with Rutu Modan's comics.

I really liked her comic novel Exit Wounds. And now I've found her "visual blog" in the New York times:

Mixed Emotions

Exerpt from Modan's blog:

And finally: My fashion loving tendencies begin pulsating to the point of explosion when I see these:

Oh miu miu has done it again.

Now to become rich and obnoxious so I can buy them big boiz and go stompin'.

Or something.

I have it! I already have a cowboy for my man. I am such a lucky duck. I wonder if Gitte ever found one for herself?

You wouldn't guess it by looking at me but I am sligthly obsessed with fashion these days. I spend hours browsing the Internet looking at fashion blogs and sites and retailers, untill I feel short, stout, poor and unstylish. Then I leave the house only to have that feeling accentuated by the droves of Icelandic shic-istas prancing around like it's Summer and their a-months-rent-worth shoes don't make them feel like those Indian guys who walk on spikes (and pretend it doesn't hurt none).

That said, I was hoping to extend this lovely feeling to some of my beloved Myspace friends. Let's start at random and weave through stylists, haute couture, prét-a-porter, street shic, thrifty ladies and obsessed bloggers...

Jaclyn Hodes is an American stylist who is the fashion director for TheBlowup LLC, style magazine. She has this kind of vintage rockabilly sensibility which she pairs with wearable style that is still fashion forward. (Yes, I just creamed my pants with my own froth of fashion lingo.)

Photobucket
Chloe Sevigny. Duh.
I don't pretend to be special, I adore the "Kids" star as much as the next "indytrendyartyista" (copyright: Baldur). This dress and T-shirt combo she did for Opening Ceremony will be copied shamelessly by me when the Summer actually hits our humble island.
Feast your eyes upon the clothing line here.

These boots should be in my wardrobe. Why must I be of reserved finances? Why?
Veronica Etro, If you are out there reading this: Gimme!

Now, don't let the pose fool you: You can not pee without taking off your overalls.
But in all honesty, the Spring/Summer collection at Rachel Mara is worth seeing, if not just to enjoy the photoshoot:Rachel Mara

Photobucket
Designer Samantha Pleet makes some pretty easygoing fashion items. Gotta love the (relatively) short, and stout, models.

Photobucket
Lou Dillon is the offspring of some pretty fabulous icons. She is an actress and model, and some voices have been whispering about her own clothing line. I would definitely be happy to wear her boho / gypsy / gonzo – looking style.

Saving the best for (almost) last: Bernhard Wilhelm's Fall/Winter '08 collection is a dream for all us out there who have been jumping on the classic fairytale bandwagon that we have been seeing in art and fashion lately. Go here. See it and weep.
Some of the collection is probably going to be sold in KronKron in Iceland, so if someone want's to give me money just send it to my accountant.
