We returned home from our tour on June 9th. A lot of people went out of their way to make our tour easier. From kicking us down a bass amp to letting us jump a bill to giving advice on van problems to fixing a guitar head and several more things besides those. So, everyone that did their best to put on a killer show, helped us, fed us, housed us, guided us, gave us free shit, etc. THANK YOU! We can't express our appreciation enough. You know who you are and so do we.
We're totally in love with Minsk and Emperor Cabinets now, too.

In the last two weeks, I've learned a very important thing. I SUCK at HTML. With that said, our website Middian.org is up and running. You can check out some gnarly pics, read repetitive news, and sign up for our e-mail (spam) list.

Enjoy,

Scott

After careful deliberations, we have decided to bring Kirsten as our roadie for our U.S. tour this May (and part of June). You local folks may know Kirsten as one half of The Baker's Ball, which is a radio show on KWVA that plays local music and only local music. We're also positive she is going to make a damn fine roadie and travelling partner. So, if you happen to be at our merch table, be nice to her and say hi. She's pretty fucking rad.
OK.
Oh, and by the way.....she will be making her debut behind the merch table at our Portland CD release show with Asunder on April 13.
That is all for now.

No more death roars for me. I am going to purely focus on my clean voice and Will is now handling all death roars and screams. If I was doing only clean or only screams and roars it would be fine and I could build either to be strong. But doing both is cancelling each style out and I'm finding that I can't do either well as a result. The last couple of shows with The Hidden Hand drove this point home. Not being able to sing in front of 100's of people sucks. Especially with a full US tour on the horizon in May.

Thanks to everyone who has been coming out to the shows and we promise the new change in our band dynamic will make our music much better live and in the studio.

OK, that's it. No more. We played our last show of the year at Ground Kontrol Sunday night. We're not even gonna rehearse until the new year.
And what a year it has been! Since our humble beginnings in March of this year, we have played eighteen shows in four states, recorded an album, bought a van and a bunch of new gear, and signed to Metal Blade.
We've made a bunch of new friends and saw some old ones. Well, Mike knew alot more of them already, but I was stoked to meet them and I know Scott was, too.
2007 is already getting plotted out and it looks like we're gonna be pretty busy. In January, we're doing a three day trip with our friends 100 Suns.
In February, we're doing two shows with Kylesa and The Hidden Hand.
In April, our album will be released on Metal Blade Records. It's gonna be called Age Eternal.
In May, we're going to be doing a full U.S. tour, possibly with Wolves In The Throneroom. If they can't do it with us, then we'll probably go out alone or maybe hook up with some other folks.
In September, we're gonna most likely be heading to Japan for a week.
And sometime after that, hopefully sooner rather than later, we will be going to Europe.
OK, to those of you we saw, it was great to see you again or meet you as the case may be. Hopefully we'll see you all next year.
And I promise not to get as drunk before we play as I was at Ground Kontrol on Sunday. Well, I promise to try not to.

We finished the tracking this last Thursday. Everything hit tape hard and mean.
Now starting this Monday we begin mixing with our friend Josh Alderson and also
with Jeff Olsen(the engineer of these sessions and owner of Dogwood Recording).
These tunes are such a trip. At one point they sound kind of rocking and circular with nods
to stoner and DOOM without being stoner or DOOM. And then they get atmospheric and epic and then hellish and dismal and then almost pop-like at moments. I have no idea what folks will think of this madness. But we've been having fun.

Ben Ward from Orange Goblin will be doing some vocal contributions on the last song of the album "Sink To The Center". Our mates from Monsters Of Pot will be bringing some noise and ambiance to this track as well. We are very excited about these most excellent offerings from our comrads in all things fucked up and HEAVY. This song is going to be a MOTHER.

Ross Sewage from Ludicra/Impaled is currently working on art and layouts for the album to be titled "Age Eternal". Ross is the MAN.

Then it's off to the mastering cooker ala John Golden at Golden Mastering. Everything will be done and submitted to Metal Blade before the end of the year shooting for a late April release.

Hell Yes.

So, Friday night was the beginning of the recording sessions for our first album. Scott and I went out to the studio in the evening to get the drums and bass set up. An easy couple of hours. Jeff has a portaflex head out there that I opted to use as opposed to my regular gear. Killer fucking sound. The drums sound great in that room, too. Our van didn't want to start for awhile on the way out there but then mysteriously started working again.

Saturday began with Mike setting up his amp. His new Electric head sounds amazing. And it is so fucking LOUD. I don't think he has turned it up past 1.5 yet. We got the basic tracks for the first two songs over the course of the day, followed by a dinner of some mexican food. Upon returning to the studio, we got the basic tracks down for a third song before calling it a night.

We rolled out together today and started at about 1. Today was the day that we tracked the long songs. By the end of the evening, we had both songs down and some more mexican food in our bellies.

Tomorrow, Mike and I go fix a few string fuck ups and Mike starts on the guitar overdubs. The sounds we're getting are great right now and we are all really excited.

Now, it's time for a six pack.

A brief rundown of our trip to PDX last night:
Arrived way early. Mike and I went to the record store. I found a copy of the Voivod album, "Nothingface" on vinyl.
Ate falafel at Berbati's. The bartender was rather surly, although to his credit, he was rather busy.
Saw alot of friends. Hanging with the Wolves in the Throne Room dudes is always awesome. Seeing the Aldebaran guys again and meeting the Towers guys was awesome, as well. I dislocated a rib during our last song and hid out in the green room after we played. Rose long enough to go to the van. I didn't say goodbye to anyone because I was in excruciating pain and could hardly breathe. It was good to see you all, though, and I wish I had gotten to give you all proper goodbyes.
We unloaded at Mikes house at about 5:30 am. Mike went to bed. I drove Scott to his house. He had to go straight to work. I came home and slept. My rib feels a little better today.
Anyhow, it was fun and thank you all that came out and said hi, watched us, etc.
Special thanks to Jamie for letting us borrow the Kittens van for the night. It was much nicer than our usual minivan antics.

First of all THANK YOU to everyone who have been coming out to the shows. We have been having such a fucking blast. Everyone has been very positive to us as we are honing our new sound and taking our baby steps as a new band.

Most folks are definitely tripping out on M-----n in comparison to YOB. The two bands share a few similiarities but have more differences. M-----n is more edgy and faster than YOB on average. Both more melodic and more abrasive too. It rocks harder than YOB did, meaning that it is more rock oriented. Some say it is more epic. Others say it is more straight forward. Some also say Middian is darker than YOB. The funny thing is even though this is all true the songs are still 10+ minutes and our first album will be a 5 song 60 minute album.

M-----n is as different to YOB as Sleep is to High On Fire. And everyone who is seeing M-----n right now is seeing us in our birthing stages and we look forward to much exporing and experimentation in the coming years with our riffage.

We are extremely excited to get down to California and SHOD 7! Until then, stay HEAVY!!!

Mike/M-----n
