Hello, I'm very sad to say Samantha passed away last week, aged just 5 years old.
..

18/03/2003-15/04/2008

Her Dad sent me a lovely email, and gave me permisson to share.

If you would like to make a donation in Samatha's memory you can either send a donation via Paypal through the link on our home page
or by sending a cheque made out to "Post Pals" and sent to Post Pals, PO Box 278, Leatherhead, Surrey, KT23 4WN. Please make a note on them that it is in Samantha's memory so I can tell her parents.

Thank you, Viks

..

Thanks so much for your lovely e-mail, and kind words of support.

I am getting e-mails from all over the world on how much Samantha has inspired them, and it is becoming increasingly clear that my little princess has touched and inspired so many people in every corner of the world in her short life than most of us could ever hope to achieve.

I feel so lucky to have had her in our lives, and have learned so much from her, the world seems a much darker place without her,

I have asked my work and several people to donate to Post Pals rather than send flowers to Sam's funeral. The last two years have been very difficult but both Samantha and Louis always managed a smile when they saw the Postman bring something for them. I want you to know I will never forget what you have done for my children and showed me just how many wonderful people there are out there.

Please stay in touch

We are launching 2 projects this week to make it even easier to make a sick child smile! We ran them a couple of years ago and found them a big success with both volunteers and Pals enjoying it!

Project 1)Print 1 sheet a week. Do you have time to print 1 sheet of paper a week, if so then this is for you! You will be assigned a child and once a week a word document of a card and message will be emailed to you, you simple hit print, fold the card, sign your name and pop it in the post to your assigned child. Its really as simple as that and it would guarantee every Pal and sibling a piece of post a week. To take part email Emma snowberry2@tiscali.co.uk with your name, email address and how many children you would like to be assigned to.

Project 2)Could you commit to sending 1 piece of post every 2 weeks. We are looking for volunteers so everyone Pal and sibling will have someone assigned to them, we have found both poster and child really benefit from hearing from someone regularly especially the siblings who often don’t get as much attention as the ill child. This is a longer term commitment although not strict so if you miss a week it doesn’t matter. To take part please email Lorna on with your name, email address, how many children you would like to write to and if you would prefer a young or older child, her address is lornarogers@hotmail.com

Please forward this onto friends, post on message boards/blogs etc as we have a lot of children now days!

Thank you,

Viks

NB: If you have taken part in these schemes in the past, we are starting them from afresh so you will be re-assigned to someone.

We have a new song on the Post Pal myspace page, its a mix of 2 songs, both of which sums up Post Pals so well (I think!), the first is "He's my son" which is so moving, it was written for a family whose son had been diagnosed with leukemia and I'm pleased to say he is now in remission, grown up and at college. The second is called "Hope", which is what everyone who logs onto www.postpals.co.uk is giving by sending a message.

The Lyrics in Full

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself
His mother is tired
I'm sure You can understand
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes

CHORUS:
Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?
If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You
Let him grow old
Live life without this fear
What would I be
Living without him here
He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there

CHORUS

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son

Hope

I can't believe, you found me here
You saved me in the nick of time
Just when I thought nobody cared
You reached out and with your hand, took mine
You know just how to pull me through
That's what I love about you

You give me hope
And I can face another day
All it takes is love and faith
And the courage to believe
You give me hope
And there's nothing I can't do
I get all my strength from you
Saying you will stand by me
You give me hope

It might be dark, and I might be scared
But what ever this life brings
Knowing that you will always be there
I can take on anything
If you're beside me in this fight
I know I'll make it through the night

Cause you give me hope
And I can face another day
All it takes is love and faith
And the courage to believe
You give me hope
And there's nothing I can't do
I get all my strength from you
Saying you will stand by me
You give me hope

If you're beside me in this fight
I know I'll make it through the night

Cause you give me hope
And I can face another day
All it takes is love and faith
And the courage to believe
You give me hope
And there's nothing I can't do
I get all my strength from you
Saying you will stand by me
You give me hope

Have you made someone smile today? Pls repost
If not then send a card online for free to a sick kid!

If you register at http://www.greetz.co.uk they send you a promotional code via email, which when you use causes you to get your first card for free (even the large cards). I was wondering if people had a few minutes spare to send one of the cards to a seriously ill child or their siblings. To choose a child and to get their forwarding address please log onto www.postpals.co.uk and send a card from Greetz to that child. I've sent a few and they have arrived and cheered the child up

If your stuck as to who to send to the following children would really benefit from some extra smiles in the post
Aled (http://postpals.co.uk/pals/Aled+G),
Reuben (http://postpals.co.uk/pals/Reuben+D),
Luke H (http://postpals.co.uk/pals/Luke+H),
Laura H (http://postpals.co.uk/pals/Laura+H),
Alice whose sister is Milly P (http://postpals.co.uk/pals/Milly+P)

Thank you

*Just a note, we aren't connected with Greetz in anyway, just trying to create some smiles out of their free offer

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I'd write and let everyone know about a yahoo group that some of us from this group set up.

Many of us LOVE crafting things for the post pal kids (seriously ill children, most have cancer or are going trough transplants), whether it's making cards, or small gifts or whatever else you can think of! What we do is chat together about what we have made, show each other photographs of it, and generally try and encourage each other to write to pals.

It's a lovely way of combining craft making and cheering kids up!

Now, you don't have to be GOOD at card making or anything to join us, you just have to want to do it, and then send the stuff you make to a Post Pal child. I know I just enjoy being creative, and believe the kids enjoy receiving my cards, even if they are not perfect!

Anyway, if you are interested, please check us out Here We are not affiliated to Post Pals, or run by them, but are a group that enjoys making things for Post Pal kids. Hope to see some of you there!
