Jim Morrison said it best, "This is the end.  My only friend the end.  Of our elabrorate plans the end.  No safety or surprise, the end".

After 11 years Idle Ride would like to announce that we are retiring.  I would say we are splitting up, quiiting, or giving up, but after 11 years of being on the road together I think we have earned the right to retire.  Unfortunately time has caught up with the band, and it is time to move on.  No regrets and no ill feelings.  It is just time to say goodbye.  We have sold over 10,000 albums, been played on over a 100 radio stations as far away as Japan, toured the east coast twice, and opened up for our hero's Flogging Molly.  I don't think we could have asked for more.  We have enjoyed every minute of it.  We just wanted to say thank you to our family and friends for all there patience.  This journey has been the hardest on them.  Unfortunately you spend a lot of time in this business telling the ones you love you can't make it because you have a show.  Thank you for you patience and understanding.  We hope we can start making up for those lost moments now.

To our fans, thank you.  Everyone says it, but I think our fans know we mean it.  We just can't believe the response we have received over the years.  We hope that we paid you back for you dedication with good shows and music to help get your through the good times and the bad.

Idle Ride will play out its already contracted shows.  The last two public appearances will be this weekend.  So if you want to come along for one last right feel free to come out and have a drink with us.

The page will stay up, with some new pics and more music put up for people to come by and look at.  I will be monitoring the site for a while as well.

Cheers,

Idle Ride

Friends and Fans:

I just wanted to write in and update you all on a few things that are going on for us this summer:

1>  Thanks to everyone who came out to support us opening for Flogging Molly at Davis & Elkins College on April 23rd.  You all know we love West Virginia, and I must say it was one of the biggest concerts in my life to this point.  You all made it happen.  You made the experience of opening for one of my favorite acts truly memorable.  I am grateful...to the students and townspeople of Elkins, WV.

2>  Keep your eyes open for the release of the Down for Whatever/It Is What It Is EP for you to listen to on Myspace in June.   It will be here sooner than later...

3>  Tickets are available for our show June 8th at the Celebrate Fairfax Festival @ www.celebratefairfax.com We'll be on the Budweiser Select Stage @ 6:00pm.  The Mainstage act that night is Live.  Other bands to also see and check out are Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Fools & Horses, and LIVE.

4>  We are currently organizing a bus trip or car pool to the Snitch Bar show in New York, NY on June 9th.  We need your help there.  They want to see if we have any crazy fans who will follow us to The Big Apple.  If you want to get on the wagon so to speak, email Tony for the details.

5> We have been added to the bill for the 11th Annual Eastport-A-Rockin Festival in Eastport near Annapolis, MD this year on June 23rd @ 6:00pm.  This show boasts a huge line-up of musicians in all genres.

6>  As always, Idle Ride has the best fans.  You all kick ass.

Die Famous,

Jason "Jake" Trenary - Idle Ride

To Whom It May Concern:

Just wanted to write in a let everyone know that the boys and I just got back from a 3 day writer's retreat in Whitacre, Virginia.  The time was well spent.   We finished a new song entitled, "This is Life" and completed another work in progress we call "One More Time."  That, combined with some work on a few new covers, has the band ready for touring in the early part of 2007.

Brian and I will also be in the studio at Dragonfly East on February 19th finishing up a few small pieces of our recordings of "Down for Whatever" and "It is What it is."  Look for those to be available for you to hear in the weeks to come.

 Take care,

Jason Trenary - Lead Vocalist and Guitar - Idle Ride

Band takes ride with new sound

Wednesday, January 24, 2007 9:10 AM CST
By Ben Ledbetter --Easterner assistant editor

Idle Ride started in 1998 playing coffee shops in Shepherdstown, W.Va., when band members were attending nearby Shepherd College.

The band started playing acoustic music in its early days but now, as rhythm guitar player Jason Trenary said, the band has a modern southern rock sound much like 3 Doors Down.

"It's come a long way since its acoustic roots," said Trenary. "We're a fully electric band now."

Idle Ride will be playing Bunker's on Saturday in Leesburg and on Saturday, Jan. 20 played at Kirkpatrick's in Ashburn Village.

Trenary is the band's main songwriter, rhythm guitar player and lead singer and said that switching to an electric sound has been like picking up a new instrument.

"As far as being the writer, you can do so many different things with the electric (guitar)," he said. "There's a place for an acoustic in a caf/, but if you want to entertain a lot of people, you play electric. For me as a writer, it's a whole new instrument almost."

The band currently has four albums and an EP already out and is currently recording another album.

But the band, like other musicians, doesn't have to wait for studio time or an interview process as much as it used to since the use of digital music has increased. Idle Ride has a page on myspace.com where it has four songs posted. The site also has show dates and allows users to post comments. That's certainly been helpful in talking with club owners.

"It helps out a lot," said Trenary. " A club owner will go on My Space and see what people have to say about you. All those things can be answered without having an interview. It makes the playing field level."
