———————————————————————————————————————————————————
Hey Everyone!
I hope you enjoyed the video of “Madeline”,
as performed by Jacob Vanags and me at Bottom Lounge in Chicago! I hope
it provided a good teaser for some of these coming stories related to
my drumming career...
...So now you know a little bit more about my projects. I am recording
a solo full-length starting in less than 2 weeks (which I will posting
a lot of updates on). Jacob and I will also be putting out a 5-song EP
in the Spring. What about “Nowadays“? This is yet another active project. Here is a little bit of background information…
Check it out!! E-mail with questions or comments at al-madani.2@osu.edu

So…
I feel like I’ve been comatose since yesterday at dinner. On the one
hand, that makes me feel entirely accomplished. On the other
hand…owwwww…
I mean, it was serious. We had homemade salad (Fatoosh, it’s an
Arabic salad), Mash potatoes & gravy, the biggest, juiciest turkey
you’ve ever seen, stuffing, cherry coke…and all that other good stuff.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
Then I had to write a paper. AFTER THANKSGIVING DINNER. While my family watched a movie. Awesome…
But I have to go actually. So I’ll leave you with a question:
What is the best possible dessert you can have after Thanksgiving dinner?
(aside from pumpkin pie, be more creative, dude…)

"...One of things I’ve always been thankful for is for a resume of incredible teachers over my life span. Craig Foreman, in particular, stands out amongst any teacher I’ve ever had to be the most blunt and honest. We used to read excerpts from Lies My Teacher Told Me as class readings. We didn’t utilize a text book or anything. We just got pockets of material and held class discussions. It felt like we were killing Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny on a daily basis.
So in the honor of Craig Foreman, The Expedition Academy, and out of sheer interest to research this story again, I thought I would shed some light on the origin of Thanksgiving, along with the origin of Eid-al-Adha..."

Yesterday, I posted a note talking about a nasty comment left by the Music Emissions music editor attacking my listeners. As it turned out, he had not even listened to my music!
So...after some bickering and defenses on my end and from a few other contestants, the editor listened to the tracks and then shared his actual opinion. How did that go?
----------------------------
...on 2009-10-19 hstisgod Said:
"Hopefully, we're past all the childish sh*t, and I can dedicate some time to Bassel's music. Songs like "Wake Up" have tasty melodies and a nachalant brazen relaxedness. "Find Myself" featuring Annabel? Is that right? Didn't really enjoy what I heard of Annabel a few months ago, but if they're involved it seems to me they are complimented well by Bassel. Light keys give way to a well written exploration of lounge leading post modern rock.
I'm not quite grasping the lead vocals, which have appeal to me, but are seemingly missing that something extra. The tingy energy of "Winter Dreams" is a perfect example of this. Like, Al-Madani is nearly to the finish line on almost every chord, and I'm left teased. The guitar melodies in "Winter Dreams" have this almost Crash Test Dummies surround sound.
As labeled on their myspace an older track, "I Can't Save You", at times features a group effort on vocals. If this is older material, I'd certainly agree that the progression of Bassel is something to look out for in future recordings. 7.5 stars rounded up for their sparkling personalities.
Rating: 8/10"
----------------------------
...So I guess that ended on a fair note. Nonetheless, the sequence of events was a bit crazy. The main IOTY moderator then came on to share his beliefs on fair play and what the contest is actually supposed to be about.
The point is, we're back now! And IOTY still goes until October 31. Please sign on Music Emissions and cast your vote. Then please take a second and share some of your thoughts on what happened with this situation.

So apparently, a music editor for Music Emissions had some nasty words about the lack of comments on my 'Indie of the Year' profile. "These minimal comments, reviews and ratings are not only lame, theyre insulting to the site. It makes it hard to even want to be ope minded about an artists music." Speak up on why he is wrong!! Here is a prime example of how to do so...
