It will give life to "Susan", the mother of "Julius", in the cinema • • Famous actress gets ready to participate in film version of a world for Julius • Anuncia that will record two capítuos for The L World.
"I accepted the personage of Susan because is tragic magician and simultaneously. She is a woman who looks for the love and that captivated to me", says to the Karina actress Lombard, who is in Lima - she finishes arriving from Máncora- reading the script that will submerge it in the film version of a world for Julius, where will give life to the mother of Julius.
"In fact never it had read the novel of Alfredo Bryce, until the supply arrived to me from Castilian the Car producer it to me", it confesses actress born in Tahití and who in Hollywood has shared scenes with actors of the stature of Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt in the film "Legend of passion" and today she is one of the foreign protagonists of the successful series of "4,400". "I like to begin by most difficult because later the things are easier (laughs). My first priority was to always work in Latin America and I am fulfilling it. I speak five languages and that allows me to accept supplies of many parts of the world. In December return to Peru and soon I will be in Paris for a televising project", counts. Karina we also saw it in The L. World, the American series of Warner Channel, who put on the rug lesbianisno. "That personage enchanted to me, all they remember it and he flatters to me. Navy (the owner of the bar) is a free woman, like those of today, has something magical. For the new season I will record two chapters, but only by love to fans. I will not follow because I like the risks". We asked to him what is first that thinks before reading a script. "I like the personages who have conflicts, many colors and, sure that count a history. Indeed, after filming a world for Julius, I will be in Paris for a series of television written by me and who has much satire". "I consider a perfeccionista woman, disciplined, because I look for to be the best and work with the humility of not knowing how anything to learn in the way. I do not get tired to learn. Right now I want to learn to dance tango, flamenco and to perfectly return for the running speaking the Spanish", finalizes the actress

Karina Lombard's Inteview In France, Karina Lombard is especially known for his roles in the series TV The L Word and the 4400. However, its career of Hollywood actress allowed him to côtoyer the largest actors and realizers: Olivier Stone in The Doors, Sydney Pollack and Tom Cruise in the Firm, Bruce Willis in Last recourse or Brad Pitt in Legends of autumn. Extremely of its five usually spoken languages, it unloads in Suspectes, the fiction event of M6. Meet with a polyglot actress who does not miss humour… Thibaut Lescuyer: By what you were allured in the role of Claude, key character the Suspect ones?
Karina Lombard: Like Marina in The L Word, I had dreamed of this role and I knew that I was going to play it one day or the other. There are characters who you "jump above" and who do not leave you any more. It is a little what I felt with Claude Perkins. Thibaut Lescuyer: There' does it have similarities between you and this character?
Karina Lombard: None! It is a character part. In the life, I am far from being also mysterious and I have fun much more than Claude. When one interprets this kind of rather odious character, it should absolutely be found a means so that the public can be identified with him. It is the kind of challenge which I like to raise.Thibaut Lescuyer: How did you prepare for this role? Karina Lombard: I did not have time! I was turning two episodes for the 4th season of The L Word, when I discovered a message of the production on my responder to think that I was to leave as of this evening. I thus arrived to France illico, without any preparation. Nobody knew himself, that immediately was: "action"!Thibaut Lescuyer: It is your first role in French, did you have an apprehension?Karina Lombard: It is paradoxical, after having read the scenario, I lay down while thinking: "Wouaaah! A series of 8 episodes for French television!" And at the same time, I said myself: "What I will be bored over there, French will make fun of my accent!" (laughter)Thibaut Lescuyer: Did you work your French for the occasion?Karina Lombard: With the turning of The L Word, I did not have time. We did not even make postsynchronization. I do not know how the technicians left themselves there because there were nevertheless problems on the sound… It is a miracle!Thibaut Lescuyer: How was held the agreement with Ingrid Chauvin and Elodie Frenck?Karina Lombard: We were not often together on turning. I turned one day with Ingrid and after one almost did not see oneself for two months. I had more scenes with Elodie. It is true that we have three quite distinct temperaments. I intended to speak about tensions between us… but still would be necessary it that one knows oneself for chamailler!Thibaut Lescuyer: Ingrid Chauvin is popular in France. Had you already intended to speak about it?Karina Lombard: You laugh! In the United States, one knows only three French actors: Gerard Depardieu, Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche (laughter)Thibaut Lescuyer: Which are the differences in turning between France and the United States?Karina Lombard: It is the day and the night. I could write a book it above. In the United States, the device of turning is much more important. On our premises, there are 4 teams whereas for Suspectes there was only one of them! The French technicians are truths ninjas, they went at a speed! I do not know how they held out for 4 months.Thibaut Lescuyer: And do you prefer the French or American method?Karina Lombard: There is not the best than the other: they are right different cultures, different mentalities, manners of working different. In the United States, all is organized thoroughly, planning, the lawyers, the contracts. Whereas here… it is "ptet Ben which yes, ptet Ben that not"! (laughter) I will be made hate by the public!Thibaut Lescuyer: You played in great American productions, which role truly propelled you?Karina Lombard: Legends of autumn! (film with Brad Pitt, note) After that, I did not audition any more! With this film, I said myself: "If I had known, I would have done that immediately!" (laughter). More recently, the roles in The L Word and the 4400 also brought a certain notoriety to me.Thibaut Lescuyer: Would you set out again if a new French production were proposed to you? Karina Lombard: Only if it is in Paris! (laughter) It is really the most beautiful city of the world! For Suspect, the producers had taken care well not to indicate to me that turning proceeded in Bordeaux! They had just said me: "It is in France". They had me well!Thibaut Lescuyer: One speaks already about new episodes for Suspectes. But one finds you soon with the cinema…Karina Lombard: Yes, I prepare a Spanish film who is drawn from a book on the old Peruvian aristocracy. I am charmed. If I have something to sell as an actress, it is my with dimensions international: I had the chance to be exposed A much of cultures, languages, manner of beings different. However, I had always turned in English and there, in one year, I juggle between French and Spanish!http://www.toutelatele.com/article.php3?id_article=6914

Lux translated the French TV Mag Interview for us below. Thanks Lux!
Sur le tournage de Suspectes avec Karina Lombard On the set of "suspectes" with Karina Lombard TV : Karina, vous êtes en france pour tourner cette série estivale de M6? TV: Karina, you're currently in France for shooting this M6's summer miniseries
K : Ah, c'est une série estivales ? Mais il neige dehors ! K (laughing): Oh, it's a summer miniseries ? But it's snowing outside !
TV: You did this choice with your heart... as you explained, you really wanted to shoot in Europe ?
K: Yes, I desired coming back in Europe, cause I missed all this. I love America, it's great, it's beautiful, but... Europe, I missed it... Its history, beauty, the wealth of so much cultures together, it's... it's gorgeous. This is the Europe's strength: it's... all these languages, all these cultures, all these people who... who... who behave differently, who speak various languages, who have different way of looking at things, but in fact, in the end... we all want the same, we all desire the same...
? TV: At this time, M6 broadcasts "The 4400", in which one may see you again. Do you manage to watch yourself in this series in french, do you have fun discovering your new voice ?
K: I didn't watch it. I did not watch it cause I don't watch TV. I'm absolutely not someone who watch TV. I rent DVDs, I love movies and series on DVDs, but I never watch TV so... One said to me that my french voice is quite... weird, but well.. I don't know.
TV: And you have some... cheyenne blood, have you ?
K : Sioux... sioux Lakota. yea, oui K: Sioux... Lakota sioux, yeh, yes.
TV : un peu comme Johnny Depp ? TV : A bit such as Johnny Depp ?
? K: Johnnt Depp ? I don't know which tribe...
TV : ...du sang Cheyenne TV: ...cheyenne blood.
K : Ah, cheyenne ? OK K: Oh cheyenne ? Okay
TV : vous ne l'avez jamais rencontré ? TV: You never met him ?
K : Ah non mais je l'adore K: Oh no, but I love him
TV : Ca ferait un joli couple... TV: That would make a pretty couple
K : Il est vraiment... vraiment incroyable... K: He's really... really amazing...
TV: And do you have some friends in the french show-business, some actors and actresses that you know, some directors ?
K: In France, no. In the US, yes, a lot. But no one in France, not yet. Because in fact, I come in Paris to visit my friends L??? that I know for years, for life, and who I love... So I come here, I come occasionally but I never... It's the first time I shoot in France in fact.
TV : And so your friends... Your kind of... band of actors and actresses in the US, who are they ?
(en anglais) name drop you know it's like... oooh(reprenant en français) Mais bon, c'est des gens géniaux... c'est des gens géniaux K (embarrassed): Oh I can't say that, cause you know, we're very, hem... They are very, hem... I don't know, after, you... You feel like... (speaking english) name drop you know it's like oooh... (continuing in french) But well, they are awesome people.
TV: And the oscars, did you watch a bit ?
K: No, I don't watch TV ! I should not say that, cause I'm on TV, but no, I don't watch TV, I don't know why... Beacuse I didn't grow with TV at all, I read a lot, but... As.. As it is not an habit, I don't know, I don't do it.
TV: And so you said to me before: the harmony, between you and Ingrid Chauvin and Elodie... Elodie Frenck, it's going well...
K: Yes, we're very different, and it's quite interesting to see the... the characters bounded with the actors, it's awesome.
? TV: Do you have the possibility to change the text of your character Claude, add some sentences ? Do you have a "right of access" ?
K : Oui, enfin... K: Yes, however... screenplays are brilliants. The Guyot are... (making a noise as pffff) are great scriptwriters. Hem, if there are some small stuff we add, we remov... no, not add, but that we remove to make the texte more... more...
TV : plus percutant ? TV: More powerful ?
K: Yeah, but it's unusual, their texte is really perfect.

Christina translated a January 2007 French Article interview with Karina from TV7Days
Karina Lombard...."I want to re-connect with Europe!" The French-American actress Karina Lombard wants to move to Paris. She is even ready to give up her role as "Alana" in "The 4400" and would love to sing her own compositions, which she's been working on for a long time. Here's the scoop!
Q: You are best known for your roles in the American series, "TLW" and "The 4400" and also speak French! A: Oh lala, it's complicated. I was born in Tahiti and have American-Indian, Russian and Italian blood. When I was young, my parents divorced and I went to Spain and Switzerland with my father. Spanish is my mother tongue but I also speak French, German, Italian and English.
Q: How did you get into acting? A: Kind of accidentally, actually. I started modelling when I was 18 and soon made the cover of a famous magazine. That picture drew the attention of a movie director who offered me a role in his French/Canadian mini-series "L'Ile" and that's when I caught the acting "virus". After studying at "The Actor's studio", I had the chance to get on the stage. I never really got well-known then, because I chose not to do commercial films.
Q: Until 2004, when you became extremely popular, thanks to playing the role of Marina, a lesbian coffeeshop owner on "The L Word". A: That role opened many doors indeed but the most radical change was somewhere else. Until then only men hit on me. After "The L Word" I was pursued by women. Teenagers, married women, they all made incredible proposals.
Q: Why did you leave the show after only one season? A: Marina became a phenomenon when she was only a secondary character. Some of my colleagues were suffering from this and I chose to leave before conflicts erupted. Two years later the fans still want me back!
Q: Will you return??? A: The producers have begged me to. I hesitated a lot but finally agreed to return for a double episode which will be aired in America in March.
Q: Alana's character in "the 4400" is a total change. A: I admit this series is much darker and psychological. But just like Marina, Alana became one of the public's favorites. People do not make me proposals but now they ask me to take them into their dreams as Alana does.
Karina will have one of the leading roles in a series called "Suspect". I really wanted to shoot in France and being on this show is a real challenge for me. The director sent me the script and I found it fantastic and very well written. The story is that of three very different women united by destiny. I play Claude, a woman who is a very cynical, aesthetic surgeon and hides deep wounds. The intrigue is enthralling, sort of a mix between "Nip/Tuck" and "Desperate Housewives". Ingrid Chauvin was described to me as a big star in France and I think she is really beautiful and friendly.
Q: How is your character going to be developed in season 3? A: Alana will start controlling her power and will turn to the 4400. But you know, I am not a regular character on the show. I have asked the producers to let me be a guest star to be free to leave whenever I want. So Alana's part might not develop as much as it could have.
Q: Does that mean that you will not be in season 4? A: I am likely to have schedule issues. The shooting of S4 will start again in February and I will still be shooting "Suspect" at the time. The producers were not exactly thrilled with my leaving to France, but I am confident they will come up with a solution.
Q: Your role in "Suspect" gives you the opportunity to re-connect with Europe again. Do you think you will be working there again anytime soon? A: I admit that I would not mind leaving the USA for a while to go back to Europe and especially to Paris, as I really love this city. I would like to settle and record my album there.
Q: You sing? A: I've written and composed music for years now. My style is much like that of Peter Gabriel's. I mix Indian drums with opera tunes. My songs are ready, I just have to find some time.
