Myspace arbitrarily assigned me a birthday (technically I am classified as an artist rather than a human being with her own birthday). :)
So, I want to thank everybody for the birthday wishes on this site (it has even trickled over to other sites). My birthday's actually in September, but what with the new year, and 2009 hopeful thoughts, I didn't want to shoo those well wishes away at all.
Much love and Happy Everyday,

.. the sweetest part of you is equal to your forever truth the smallest part of you reminds you what you love to do the bitterest part of you is only acting out, trying to court the sweetest with vipers (that's the most romantic notion bitterness can dream up, just now). the bitterest part's desirous of the sweetest's fond and rapt attention so let them rage let them chase each other around, and flit and fit, and flirt. eventually they'll synch up, like a metronome, and your heartbeat. they'll harmonize.
in this arena, darling, all gray areas are allowed, dust and cobwebs are encouraged. gritty, fumbling, dirty, strangely grimacing, compass-magnets misdirected... just take your time, and wash, and feather-dust away, a little more each day at this point in time surrender is your bitterest and your sweetest gift this out of sorts fantasia is the kind of poison that can heal when meted out in tiny dots of doses if you'll kindly just relent, and let it -jmj 12/08

"Scatter yourself in my dark heart and pull out the arrows of my disgraces Where you are is where I want to be I want to hear your glow pressed in shadows removed When the nightmare falls asleep, is it you that shuts its eyes... How? Where you are is where I want to be I want to hear your glow pressed in shadows removed saying 'only good thoughts, my love'" - Lisa Cerbone, from "Only Good Thoughts My Love"- www.lisacerbone.com

Dear Friend, This has been an incredibly difficult week for Californians who are disappointed in the passage of Proposition 8, which takes away the right to marry for same-sex couples in our state. We feel a profound sense of disappointment in this defeat, but know that in order to move forward we must continue to stand together as one community in order to secure full equality in California. In working to defeat Prop 8, a profound coalition banded together to fight for equality. Faith leaders, labor, teachers, civil rights leaders and communities of color, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, public officials, local school boards and city councils, parents, corporate law firms and bar associations, businesses, and people from all walks of life joined together to stand up against discrimination. We must build on this coalition in order to achieve equal rights for all Californians. We achieve nothing if we isolate the people who did not stand with us in this fight. We only further divide our state if we attempt to blame people of faith, African American voters, rural communities and others for this loss. We know people of all faiths, races and backgrounds stand with us in our fight to end discrimination, and will continue to do so. Now more than ever it is critical that we work together and respect our differences that make us a diverse and unique society. Only with that understanding will we achieve justice and equality for all. ..tr> .. Dr. Delores A. Jacobs CEO Center Advocacy Project | .. Lorri L. Jean CEO L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center | .. The Change We Need Change 6: So(ul) Free Set it all aright and alight Again and again Apple cart's fallen and you got's to pick it up. And again? All corrections are valuable, you heard? Holler back. I was and always will be your amen chorus. In ignorance, folks called that song "The Yes-Man." Tonedeaf for the time being they couldn't hear the "Amen." The "Walk On." The "Selah." In a zillion times infinity light years does this matter even matter? Selah. Keep it strong. Be the light you wish to see. Make new appointments and connections ditch the disappoint and disconnect These are the aiki moves I make in Mind as I check my form in the reflection. Forward and then backward rolls in the dojo. Alignment unravels and I can't get up. "Again!" Sensei bellows from the diaphragm, and then thwaps the back of my neck with a twig from the branches of my own tree. And then we laugh again. - jmj 11/7/08
