How did the band come up with the name ACCIDENTAL ANGELS?

It came to us in a dream, like the naked Indian and Jim Morrison in Wayne's_World 2. lol

-How did the band start?

Time honoured tradition, really. Two drunken blokes talking bollocks about music hit it off, rope in another couple of mates, mates fall by the
wayside, leaving two drunken blokes talking bollocks about music in a bar,
rope in another couple of likely lads and bingo we're back in business.

-How long have yous been together?

A little over a year, well, some of us have - we picked up a few stragglers along the way, after losing their predecessors in a freak yachting incident. lmfao

-Who writes the songs?

JD is the lyric man, although, some new ideas are coming through and egos aside, if it sounds good and fits the bands direction it's in – final!!

-How long does it usually take to write a song?

Hard one!!  It can take as little as half an hour if you're in the right frame of mind, or it can take days of eating take out food and trying to decipher lyrics scribbled on backs on matchboxes under candle light.  lol

-What is your favourite song you've written/played and why?

I would say 'Suggest you better look at it again'.  Mainly because it's a new song for the band and fresh, but also because I think it really shows what AA is all about – energy, dynamic and simply having a good time along the way.

-Who or what influences you to write your songs?

All the principal ones really – work, life, women, drink, political system 'the man' and so on.  It comes down to the mood your in on a given/ particular day, whose pissed you off or made you feel high, or just simple things like going out for a drink and everything that ensues – if you can remember! lol

-Describe your music...

We're a little ray of sunshine - catchy choruses, big arrangements, and loud guitars - all sprinkled with magic dust from crushed up pixies.

-Who are some of your musical and non-musical influences?

Classic rockpunkpop

The Jam

Thin Lizzy

Ramones

Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band – Ok just JD!
We could be here all day, but the A-Z list is rather long!

-If you could play anywhere in the world with anybody (past or present). Where and with whom would it be?

It would be playing the legendry Montreal festival with Jimi Hendrix – oh yeah!!

-How far do you want the band to go?

All the way to the top – wherever that is!  With the caveat ...as long as it is fun!

-What is your favourite thing about being in a band?

Ok people presume we're going to say; women, drink, drugs, adulation of peers and rock 'n' roll parties, but hey that is just too predicable………..  Rock 'n' roll parties are overrated! lol

-What would you be doing if you weren't in a band?

Working for a charity that re-houses homeless otters or swanning around
London, looking moody, hair in face and pinching lovely ladies' backsides – hey we do that already! lol

-How are people currently reacting to your music?

There have been reports across Europe of people coming out in a rash after listening to our music! lol

The music does come with a health warning 'it may be contagious'!!  Ok that was the cheesiest line I have ever heard! lol

-What separates your band from all the other bands out there?

We like to think we have a distinctive sound over some of the bands on the scene today.

-What is most rewarding when it comes to your band?

When someone connects with one of your songs or understands what you were feeling when you wrote it.

-Where do you hope to be in 5 years with your band?

On a yacht in the south pacific drinking mai tais and snorkelling for champagne bottles.

-What are you looking forward to most right now as a band?

A hair cut!

-How do you promote your music, and is it working?

We try to do a bit of everything; myspace, music websites, radio stations, record labels, gigs etc.  Although, it is a tough market, full of competition and it can be hard – so anyone who wants to help please step forward!

-What is most important to you in your band?

Harmony and lots of beer and snacks.

What would be the top 3 reasons for listening to your music?

  • High Energy
  • High Fun
  • High Heels

-What is your best experience as a band?

Selling out of albums at 2 major London venues after amazing gigs and having fans queuing backstage for our autographs!

-What is your worst experience as a band?

We were playing a festival and the power cut out and the sound systems died completely in the middle of our set….still we managed to keep the crowds entertained by juggling guitars and back-flipping across the stage. lol

-What are your plans for 2008? and beyond?

To keep building the following that seems to grow with every gig

To record and release our Album – coming soon!

To secure a record deal with a label that can keep us in washing powder and mung beans for the next twenty years!

To be able to move into a larger house – as we are sick of JD arguing over who gets the top bunk at
Angels Towers.

Accidental Angels would like to invite you to their next gig at Purple Turtle, Camden on:

THURSDAY 10th August 2006 @ 8pm

Purple Turtle
61-65 Crowndale Rd
Camden
London
N1

Nearest tubes: Mornington Crescent

Despite critical mockery, public indifference and our own appalling apathy, we've picked ourselves up, phoned every church hall and youth club in the land to find a venue for our next rock'n'roll hoedown. We've had a couple of stormers at some excellent London venues, but when London's premier community centre calls, what choice do we have but to turn up, straw hanging from mouth, banjos on our backs, chewing tobacco at the ready and pregnant sisters hidden out of view in the pickup truck cleaning the gun rack - yeehaw, we're back at the Purple Turtle (near Mornington Crescent tube). For those of you not in the know, the Purple Turtle is possibly London's greatest little rock'n'roll venue - the list of those who've played there is longer than crazy Uncle Jed's beard and less full of rotten food and small insects.

Tickets are priced £5 with flyer or £6 on the door. Make sure you say that you're here to see Accidental Angels

Hope to see you there!

Calling All Fans!

Now Accidental Angels arent good at begging; some have said that this goes against the very core of what we stand for.   However, never let it be said that we cant change our minds, especially when NME comes 'a' knocking at our door!!! LOL

So whats it all about I hear you cry in anticipation well we are going to put you out of your misery.  Accidental Angels have been entered into the NME new music section: http://www.nme.com/newmusic/accidental-angels.

Thats not all folks read on as this is where we start begging like a pack of hungry wolves at dinner time!! lol

As part of NME.com's 10th glorious year, Accidental Angels have been given a chance to play at the NME.COM 10th Birthday Party later in the year. However, we need your votes in order to ensure we play.

So how do you fine human beings vote for those pesky Accidental Angels>?  Well all you need to do is go over to http://www.nme.com/newmusic/accidental-angels and register, then go back to our page and select vote for this band...how easy is that!?!?!!

We wont forget you guys when we are broke and lonely you can bet your pants on it!! Lol

Peace
