in the studio I am currently working on three of my newest songs.  things are going pretty well so far.  the next three should begin to be recorded by mid-November and I will be at the halfway point of my twelve cut CD "Love's End".   At this rate my CD should be finished by April 2010!

most folks don't know that i am also a water colour artist.  i plan to create my CD cover artwork as well as the design.

taking a sabbatical from my public performances is refreshing and i am able to focus on several other aspects of my personal and professional life.  however, i really miss getting to see everyone and look forward to May 2010.  i have already began booking shows for the summer 2010 and am excited about my new CD.

in the mean time have a good rest of 2009, be well and i will see you all soon!

................

There’s a flower wilting on the vine.., the sun is gone and no water falls upon the ground..,.. cracks are all around..,.. bleak and bare.

.. ..

A life once live with beauty strong now falls upon broken dreams that never grew

beyond the blue..,.. not one clue.

.. ..

It’s a heart that can’t see through the crowd..,.. can’t let anyone around..,.. to see the pain, just die in vain..,.. it’s all the same.

.. ..

As the world goes round and round again..,.. never missing even one remembrance of the fading colors..,.. none to discover..,.. lies uncovered.

.. ..

There’s a flower wilting on the vine..,.. no more singing can be heard..,.. nor bells do ring..,.. it’s gone for good.

.. ..

Would there be any kindness in holding dear..,.. this flower in its ending hours..,.. a drenching drink..,.. from the well so deep?

.. ..

The scarlet petals begin to bleed their colors on the ground so bleak and fade away..,.. nothing left to say.

We had so much fun last night. Our open mic was wildly successful in spite of the weather and the power outages we incurred last night. 53 brave souls came out to listen to local music and enjoy the delights on the menu of the Coffee Break last night. We had 17 performers take the stage, several seasoned musicians, one that had always performed in bands, made his first solo performance. We had some very talented up and coming folks....a young lady with a beautiful voices and great songs came out for the first time. We also had a number of friends performing everything from rock and roll to original music. The sound was amazing as Jon Trozzolo had a nice system and dialed it in perfectly. Three poets graced the stage with poems that would shake you up and melt your heart. We are already looking forward to March, another Friday 13th! So get yourself primed for St. Patty's Day by stopping by The Coffee Break on 2nd Friday and either performing or supporting local talent. So come away with me....to the next 2nd Friday Open Mic at the Coffee Break! rkj

This last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with my family; my loving husband, my daughter and her family and my son's kids, longtime friends of ours and their grown up children along with my two little dogs. It all started out with a kiss on the cheek that morning....they were sweet and tender followed by i love you's through out the day and most of all the day just flowed. We played music together, watched movies and played Mouse Trap (This game was a gift from my dad when I was a kid and he played it with my sister and I often). We ate comfort food, drank quarts of home brewed tea, and those heart shaped sugar cookies didn't last long. Yes, this is the life I have always dreamed about. Towards the end of the evening my dearest friend and I finally sat down. She is just getting over the ravages of breast cancer and she said something very profound to me..."did you ever wonder what your life would really be like back thirty years ago?" I thought for a minute and then realized, I do have the life I dreamed about...it is right here...right now...happening in this present moment. For a precious moment in time I realized that yes....I do have the everything and more that I had dreamed about as a kid and throughout my entire life up until now....the problem was- I was always dreaming instead of being present in the moment where I could actually experience my life. I had longed so long, I almost missed it.

Tonight as I look at my life I am deeply humbled and very thankful for all the positively wonderful things that are bestowed upon me daily. I do meaningful work in our community, share my music, have a great family, a few good friends, a deep spiritual connection. Yes, my life has been one with many challenges. Yes, it has been hard work to forge the kind of deep relationships that take time, yet all my struggles are well worth it....and to find out through a friend that I had it all along....is priceless.
