Thanks to my US Booking Agent, Brian Waymire of Red Gorilla Music, the single "Sister Pharmaceutical" off of "The Violet Hush" is being featured as a free download on Windows Media Guide as well as Reverb Nation. This has led to over 9,000 downloads of the single in the last two weeks and is putting "The Violet Hush" on the map quickly!

"The Violet Hush" is very much still doing it's job of building the buzz towards my upcoming release "Gone Missing". It's still getting new reviews in very important magazines like New York's own Royal Flush Magazine.

It's been a wild last few months in production of my upcoming release "Gone Missing". It's taken me to Los Angeles, Lexington, Nashville, London and Oxfordshire, Engalnd during the sessions and I'm very excited to say it's about to get mixed and mastered.

My producer on "The Violet Hush" and "Gone Missing", Duane Lundy, has taken every care with both these projects and I'm very pleased to see that people are beginning to take notice.

I just returned from three weeks in London recording my next release "Gone Missing". It was a wild ride to say the least filled with humor, tears, booze and fantastic sessions. Here's a bit of what happened.

I landed on Friday October 2nd and I went straight to Gordon's bar and polished off a full bottle of Ruby Port. I then attempted to walk which did not go well and I ended up passed out on the steps at Embankment Station at 6pm. I woke to a Jesus Freak standing right above me with a microphone and speaker using me a fine example of what not to do. My trusted manager put me on a train and I was passed out at 8pm. You're welcome London. Thanks Helen for giving me a fantastic place to stay as well as for putting together an awesome dinner party!

On Monday October 5th I played a solo acoustic set at the world famous Bath House in SOHO. I had a great industry turnout and I was happy to play this place before they tear it down in the next year to make way for a new train station. This spot is well known to have been a major rock spot where many deals were cut. Rod met The Faces here back in the day.

Wednesday October 7th brought the band. They landed safely and 100 Pounds later they were at the hotel. Note to self: Fly the band into Heathrow next time you shithead. We made our way into to town and I sat through yet another useless meeting "yawn". Wednesday night we hit the town with Jay Fab and Mr. Walker which took us on a journey to some great clubs, the best being Sketch. I was on another planet still wired from lack of sleep, wine does not help. Best line of the night from a French girl "Have you ever had a French Kiss?" What?

Thursday October 8th was a full day of rehearsals with the band (Duane Lundy, Emily Hagihara, Brandon Judd and Justin Craig) at CATO Music. We were right next door to Nick Cave, no chance to meet him, but that was close.

Friday October 9th was the show at The Garage. We had a fair turnout and the band played very well. The Garage is a great spot and I hope the reviews of the show are strong.

Some of you may know Barrie Barlow as the drummer for Jethro Tull. He is an amazing person and was a very kind host during our 10 day stay at The Dog House. We got to hear lots of wild stories and wisdom from one of musics greats! My producer Duane Lundy got to hear lots of Jimmy Page stories as Barrie played on one of his solo records.

Our engineer during the sessions was Mike Silverston. Mike has been in the business since 1972 and worked on some of the most recognized albums of all time. He was an engineer on Pink Floyd's Wish you were here sessions and the list of other projects is long. It was great each day as Mike would play us unheard pieces from some amazing artists.

The Dog House had some great old gear, we used Barrie's kit that he used during the Thick as a brick sessions and I got to use one of Joe Jackson's guitars on a track. The area where The Doghouse is located is filled with rock royalty and we were lucky to be there for sure.

I would like to thank everyone for such a focused 10 days in the studio. I am very proud of the result and I'm sure it will be a very beautiful album when we hear the finished version in December. This was a huge undertaking by recording "Gone Missing" in England and I want to thank Suanne Gray, Derek Jones, Bryan Beasley, Tom Hughes, Victor and Deborah Lazzeretti, Jim Hollingsworth, Helen Park-Weir, Tom and Beth Hollingsworth and Barbara Mays for making it happen. I would also like to thank Duane Lundy, Justin Craig, Emily Hagihara and Brandon Judd for their fantastic efforts in the studio. Thanks as well to Amanda Ralston and Bryan Beasley for their studio photography. The UK team of Tal Russ, Catherine Hockley, Jeff Chegwin, Jacqui Wright, Harry Farmer and CATO Music deserves a huge THANK YOU! A world of thanks!

 False Momentum for sale!

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side." Hunter S. Thompson

I agree that the music business is tough and dirty sometimes and that there is a lot of quality lost in the shuffle. I believe that what makes it into the mainstream is a watered down version of the best music has to offer in most cases.

I believe the future of music depends solely on the artist and his or her ability to brand and release music on their own terms outside of what is loosely described as the "music business".

My independent label, False Momentum, aims to release high quality productions with the help of http://www.absolutemarketing.co.uk This will allow me to control content and deliver the most honest and real music possible. False Momentum reaches mainstream Radio and Press and competes with the largest releases and budgets in the world. 2009's release, Johnny BennettThe Violet Hush, charted in the Top 200 at Triple A Radio here in the US for 12 weeks as well as getting major spins on BBC Radio in the UK. The Violet Hush has been a huge critical success both in the US and UK.

False Momentum will release Johnny Bennett Gone Missing, on March 1st 2010. We have secured distribution in the UK and Ireland for Gone Missing through Universal Music Group via Absolute Marketing. Gone Missing will be produced by Duane Lundy in October 2009 at The Dog House Studio just outside London. With the help of an amazing team which includes The Press House, Fifth Element PR, Exist Management, Jeff Chegwin TV and Radio PR, Jacqui Wright PR and The Harry Farmer Agency, we will release Gone Missing on a major scale with an excellent chance for success.

Our goal is very simple. We are giving 100% of our attention to the quality of our releases and then, with the help of the above mentioned seasoned industry professionals; we will give the music a fighting chance to succeed.

There is a reason why major labels are failing, music magazines are dropping like flies and music listeners are seeking new avenues for finding music. A lot of the blame is placed on the web but I feel it is direct relation to quality of content and the lack of passion that is vital for an artist to translate to the public. Look at Rolling Stone it has turned into a joke that was once a very important publication that lead readers to the new music and culture. It has, like so many others, become a MAXIM type magazine with very little street credit or sense of discovery.

I am asking you, along with a small group of like-minded individuals, to take ownership of False Momentum with me. This, I believe, is a chance to deliver high quality content and make a difference in how the music industry is perceived.

Please contact me at violethush@gmail.com or 615.243.6896 for more information on how you can get involved.
