THRASHFEST 2009: Thy Flesh Consumed to headline day 1 of 2

Announcement taken from the HOGAN MEDIA RELATIONS news letter.

"Atlantic Canada’s premier metal festival is pleased to announce the official line-up for THRASHFEST 2009, which will be held at Gus’ Pub in Halifax, Nova Scotia on August 28th and 29th."

"The two night music festival will feature a dozen of the finest heavy metal bands in the region. Friday night’s headliner will be Halifax’s own death grind master’s Thy Flesh Consumed who will be performing material from their highly anticipated forth album ‘Unrepentant’ which will be released in October on Diminished Fifth Records. Other acts for Friday’s showcase include Terratomb, Hellacaust, North End Metal All Stars, Big Game Hunt and Cicada. Saturday’s headliner will be Hate Division from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and supporting acts for the second night include festival organizers Fistfight, Orchid’s Curse, Select and Dismember, Panic & War, and Legions of Chaos."

"It's great to see that type of support coming from the community" commented organizer Matthew Francis "I'm stoked for the lineup we've assembled this year, and even more impressed by the enthusiam being shown by the fans" fellow organizer Randy Crust, who also hosts CKDU radio program 'Mutants on Parade' added "This year's Thrashfest is bittersweet for me as it marks the last show I'm going to play before moving out of Halifax, so I hope to see all the friends I've made in the scene over the years there!"..

Tickets for the event will be $8.00 for a day pass or $12.00 for both nights. Advance Tickets are on sale at Gus' Pub and Random Play in Halifax and CD Heaven in Dartmouth.

Projects outside the Thy Flesh Consumed camp

We want to let everyone know what we are all doing outside the Thy Flesh Consumed camp. Here is a list of other bands we are involved with.

The True Northern Mystigrind band Cephalectomy just released their new album titled 'An Epitaph To Tranquility'. This is Peter's second album with the band. It was released today as a free download. D5R signs exclusive U.S. distribution with Relapse Records

Diminished Fifth Records have just announced that they have signed on an exclusive distribution agreement with Relapse Records for distributing their catalog the United States. "Relapse Wholesale and Mail Order is proud to be working with Diminished Fifth. Josh has some great projects on the horizon and we cannot wait to start working together on them." says Brian O’Neill with Relapse. "Personally, I couldn’t be more excited about working with Relapse" commented Josh Hogan who runs Diminished Fifth, "for over 15 years they have been providing the world with the finest extreme metal and to this day they work with many of my favorite bands. Show cancellations

The entire show scheduled for Wednesday July 8th with Aggressor and Reanimator has been cancelled.

Our Eastern Canada CD Release mini tour has also been cancelled since our album has yet to be finished. It is currently in the mixing process. More information on the recording will be posted in the next, long overdue studio report. We hope to release UNREPENTANT by the end of the summer, early fall. Dates in Quebec City and Montreal may be scheduled based on the albums availability. Apologies to our fans on the Eastern front, we will be back soon!

Thy Flesh Consumed Joins Diminished Fifth Records

Diminished Fifth Records is pleased to announce the death grind machine known as THY FLESH CONSUMED have joined their growing roster of artists, and will be releasing their highly anticipated fourth album 'Unrepentant' later this Summer.

"We are not only honoured but we are excited to be working with a band as focused and committed as Thy Flesh Consumed" commented label owner, Josh Hogan. "They need little introduction in the underground metal world and we hope this release will shed even more light on their already impressive career." The band is equally excited to release Unrepentant on Diminished Fifth. "Carrying the torch and lighting the way for East Coast Metal, Josh and D5R make the unimaginable very very possible. I am proud to be part of this movement, it truly is history in the making." said vocalist Peter Mestre. The band's drummer Gerald Smith agrees that this is the right step for the band, "In my 15+ years of grinding out tunes, I've never experienced this level of dedication or enthusiasm from a record label. Formed in the fall of 2001 with the sole purpose of playing fast and heavy music, Thy Flesh Consumed evolved quickly into a serious band covering themes of animal rights, religion, socio-political issues, warfare, and the failing environment among others. The bands raw talent has found order with their razor sharp sound, harnessing the most extreme and aggressive elements of grindcore, black metal and death metal.

Thy Flesh Consumed has shared the stage with such metal titans as: Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Impaled Nazarene, Misery Index, Emeth, Unexpect, Anonymus, Neuraxis, Kult Ov Azazel, Melechesh, Morgion, Martyr and Fuck The Facts.

UNREPENTANT - Studio Report 3 - Crimson Stains On The Banner Of Blasphemy

Dave's rhythm guitars and Ross's bass tracks are now complete. The recording processes for both went smoothly and seamlessly. After some tweaking, testing out new equipment and mixing old and new technology, the decision to record two tones simultaneously was made. This method was used for both, with the end result only described as ‘shock and awe’. There is an interesting mix of old and modern sounds, it’s thunderous and gritty. Peter will begin recording vocal tracks this coming week, for more time to pass so Dan's hand injury can heal as much as possible before he begins his guitar tracks.

UNREPENTANT - Studio Report 2 - Battery Of Desecration

After hammering out the drums over the past few days, the majority of the tracks are now complete. Gerald's drumming is finally getting the attention it deserves; as the drum sound is the most powerful we've heard in a studio. The clarity and heaviness is overwhelming. We had to pull the reins on him several times as he left the 320 bmp click track in his dust, though; he does excel this speed in other songs. The rest of the week we'll be focusing on the drums recordings and ironing out any discrepancies, as well as Dave and Ross getting started on their tracks.
