I'm posting some of the roughs from the studio for those interested in hearing them...also
to prove I've actually made some progress.

The songs will be up for 24 hours or so.

I'd love to hear what you think of them so far!!

I am truly a horse's ass.

I can't believe I lost it. The last time I saw it, it was July 4th at City Fest. I see it. It is
sitting in my guitar case as always (my tele case), folded up, laying in the part where the body of
the guitar goes so I see it when I lift the guitar out. I picture the wind taking it out of the case.

Buffoon! Why didn't you put it in the little compartment area?

... because it's important in a meaningful..er..superstitions way and it's better to have it
so it physically touches the instrument... That way the instrument picks up some of its mojo
through some process of osmosis. What good would a charm do if it were tucked in the little
compartment?

Well what good would it do now, Einstein? It's gone! A lot of good it will be to you gone!

My plan for this Blog was to put up a poem Papa Smurf gave me just before I went up on stage
at the now defunct 313 Jac above Jacoby's, downtown.

I was complaining about getting discouraged with playing music and the direction of it all to a
homeless man (how ridiculous is that when you think about it?) When he almost on cue takes
out a folded xerox copy of a handwritten poem called "Don't Quit."

I kept the poem.

That poem is gone now. I've given up the search for tonight. I haven't quit looking though.

2/3 of the way through the summer but plenty of reasons to get excited.

I'm stoked for the Doop cd release on Saturday.  He's worked hard and put his whole heart and soul into this record and it shows.  The end product is something I feel fortunate to have been a part of.  The evening will be a memorable one.

After Saturday, the big thing on my mind will be to continue with the EP that I've been working on.

Recording and releasing music is a unique thing for lots of reasons.  For a person who is used to playing live and is most comfortable in front of an audience, the atmosphere of a studio is really strange.  It's also something that you want very badly to be completed as soon as possible, but you have to constantly check your anticipation.  It's better to take your time.

As stoked as I might be to get in there and bang out the rest, I think it's a good thing this recording is playing out the way it is.  The time it's taken has been time well-spent, and I know that the end result will be something good.

Big show on Sunday!!!  Christian D. on the guitars with me as we do a songwriters showcase at the nicest looking place in Detroit- Cliff Bell's.  I can't think of a better way to bring on a looooong awaited summer.

I know it's been a while.

So goes the love/hate relationship with Myspace.  We've made up and are on speaking terms again.

The cd is coming along...very close to mastering.  It seems like whatever you might be doing whether its the last few days of school or the final few miles of a trip, those last steps seem to take the longest.  Lots of things going on that I'm very excited about this summer!

Oh yeah and one more thing... I just posted an acoustic version of a song called "Norma" that I've been playing lately and will show up on the record.

Hope you enjoy this stripped down version...

I can't wait for this weekend as I get ready to put some songs to tape. Some of the very best people around are going to be involved in this record and it's kind of flattering and humbling to be working with them.

It's gonna be a six-song E.P.. I'll post more about what's going on in the coming days and weeks.

Well things are going good.... I've been recording with the great Jim Diamond at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit. On the first Sunday (two Sundays ago) we began laying down the drums (played by Vinnie Dombroski of the Orbitsons) and last Sat played the guitars. Bass on Sunday. It's been a great time and I can't wait till it's done. I've been in the studio quite a few times now but I've never been in recording my own songs- seeing something like this come together has been a learning experience so far. More to come

Never been busier with music than I am right now and I'm enjoying it! It makes me neglect things like this webpage. I am currently trying to get an E.P. done, and playing and traveling with the Inside Outlaws, and writing tunes of my own as well as trying to get a band going for the upcoming year. Nuts.
