Current mood: excited
Ok,
So we keep getting tons of messages from you guys about what we're doing and when we're touring and what the fucking deal is because we haven't played a show since May and we haven't toured since November. Well here's the basic gist of things...
After the As Cities Burn tour, we took off a bunch of time to write a record. It didn't go as fast as we thought it would, so we ended up being sidelined at home for a while, feeling unproductive and bummed. BUT, we eventually hit our stride and we wrote a fucking awesome record. I feel more confident about this material than anything else we've done in the past. It feels fucking great and I think you guys will be just as excited as we are. The feedback we've been getting from everyone we've showed it to has just been amazing. We took a lot of cues from great acts like Phil Collins and Fleetwood Mac for these new jams and they're fun and danceable and they all sound like they could be in the training montages in the Karate Kid Trilogy (that 4th movie with Hilary Swank doesn't count. Fuck that bitch.)
Anyway, we are revamping the live show and coming up with some ideas to make the Paulson experience the best that it can be. We're going to start playing some shows in September to try out the new material get the whole flow moving again. Hopefully by then we'll have some cool things to tell you. We miss everyone so much and are dying to get back on the road. Keep an eye out. We'll be back in you stupid faces before you know it.
xoxo
Alex/Paulson

We're happy to announce that our album All At Once will get a release on vinyl via Cavity Records/One Day Savior on April 22nd. Details are still a little sketchy but we'll fill you in more as we get closer to the release date. It will be a 2 disc set and will probably include the track "all at once," which didn't make it on to the US version of CD, maybe another b-side could appear as well?
Oh yeah, and we're working on a new record as we speak, so get psyched!

So, some of you are probably wondering why in the world there is an a cappella choir singing Calling On You on the new EP. Yeah, about that.
When I walked into Big Blue Meenie Studios in Jersey City on Day 1 of our projected four-day recording process for the EP, Jeff asked me if I might like to take a crack at arranging an a cappella version of COY and having some friends try and record it. I had done a lot of a cappella work in college, and I really thought those days were behind me, but a cappella is kind of like the mafia; it keeps pulling you back in.
One afternoon of rehearsal and a few late nights later, we came out with what you hear on the EP. I'd like to thank all the singers for learning the music in no time at all and for making themselves so available on such short notice, Neha for getting the pizza, Tim for letting us do way more in the studio than he had probably bargained for, and Joe for staying up with me and snipping this thing until it sounded pretty.

So if you don't know, ever since we got home from the He Is Legend tour, we've been working on a new record, which is an incredible amount of work. So to break up the monotony, we decided to record some stuff and do an itunes only digital single/ep for Calling On You. It's going to feature the album version of Calling On You, some alternate versions/remixes, a few of our covers that we do live and the video for like $4.99. What a deal.
Stay tuned for a final track listing!

If you missed yesterday's broadcast of the Freshman, head over to the MTVU website and check out the show. While you're there, cast a vote for us as your favorite video. This episode features the 5 featured videos for the fall semester, and all 5 will be getting featured airplay through December. This is normally what you get when you win the voting, but since we all are already getting that, we're hoping that the prize will be something totally sweet. And we want it, whatever it is. So vote for us and we'll split it with you. We totally really will for realsies.

Our friends on the paulson street team have asked to post a message on their behalf. They have a couple of projects going over there and they are looking for new members to help promote all things paulson.
Street team members do things like help pass out fliers for shows, spread the paulson word through blogs and message boards, etc, etc. In return you can get free stuff like concert tix, locks of logan's hair, posters, stickers and advance access to new music.
So if you'd like to join up, head over to the paulson street team myspace page: myspace.com/paulsonstreetteam
Thanks! paulson

We're going to be doing an interview with MTVU next week and if you have any burning questions you'd love to see answered, submit them here and we may answer them on the air: http://www.mtvu.com/music/backstage_pass/questions.jhtml
or by emailing backstagepass@mtvu.com with the header "Questions for Paulson."
Please take this opportunity to really dig deep. Put us on the hot seat. Ask philosophical questions like "if God is all powerful, can he make a rock so heavy he can't pick it up?" Or maybe "Would you like to join the Pen 15 club?" Perhaps even "Asphinctersayswhat?"
Thanks!
Love, Paulson
