Went to see Chely Wright last night at the KNUST, a little Club downtown Hamburg. I had a little 10 minute, 2 Song teaser on Radio HHeinZ last Tuesday and the guys were all crazy about her...either because of her good looks or for her support of the marines. Germans still think there is only 2 sides to the story: Pro-war or Anti-war. And ever since the Dixie Chicks vs Toby Keith thing we tend to believe the chicks are against war; the dudes wanna fight. And here comes Chely with her pics on her website, her carrying a gun, her song " On the Bumper of my SUV"....so ..."this gal is pro war!" And there was discussions to take her off the show. Well, she proved to be the kind of person I had hoped her to be: Very open, loving, charming and willing to take nothing for granted, to ask questions and deeply appreciating the fact we all are living in peace. Well sort of... Her show was fantastic....about 200 People, the usual cowboy hat wearers (the $5 kind, straw, one size fits nobody) that still think country is all about Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and Garth Brooks, and a lot of people not sure what to expect. A 2 hour show, she and her fantastic band playing their butts of, an unplanned unplugged intermission with some of Chely's brand new songs played by herself on a borrowed guitar...naked songs from an open human being willing to share her deepest feelings and fears....A very pleasant surprise! Quite an evening. Very inspiring. Thank You, Chely!

Got home late from work today....sort of tired. Wasted. In my VW Golf. Used to drive a F-150 Ford Pickup. But these days, with gas prices more expensive then small batch bourbon...Anyways I almost ran into some deer. Gosh, they look humongous from a Golf... like moose....they looked rather small, doggish, from my Ford....Perspective is everything. Until you hit a Deer. Then the car size is a matter of survival....I am looking for a bigger car now...
