Hey folks,

As most of you know, we sold out for this years final in record time - just under 10 hours!

If you have any spare tickets, it would be really good to advertise this by posting a comment on the Town Hall page - that way some of the many disappointed people who didn't manage to get hold of one might still be able to live the dream and attend the top event in Selby this year!

So, here's the deal - if you have a spare ticket:

1. Post a comment on the Town Hall page telling people
2. Wait about five minutes for loads of people to bombard you with requests

see you soon

Hello pop pickers,

It's not just here in Selby that people are loving the Town Hall. Word is spreading fast that these gigs are pretty special, and this week the project moves up a gear with our first ever (and we think the countires first ever) under 20s band tour!

Yes, that's right, the Town Hall is on tour! Durham County Council were so impressed with what was going on here that they asked us to organise a mini tour! So, from Friday 3rd to Tuesday 7th April, The Kabeedies (who wowed you lot here last summer) will be touring five venues in County Durham, supported by two different local bands at each show, and we organised it all. How cool is that!

If any of you are so excited that you want to travel all the way up, here are the dates:

3rd April - Lamplight, Stanley
4th April - Greenfields Community College, Newton Aycliffe
5th April - Village Hall, Mickleton
6th April - Market Tavern, Bishop Auckland
7th April - East Durham College, Peterlee

All the shows are under 20s only with tickets priced £2 and doors opening at 7:00pm

Rock on Selby Town Hall!

You may have heard of Xenomania, you may not.

You will, however, have heard of the acts that they write for and produce - Girls Aloud, Franz Ferdinand, Kylie Minogue, Annie, Sugababes, Saint Etienne, Gabriella Cilmi, Rhianna and Amy Winehouse.

They are the biggest producers around right now - Xenomania pretty much run pop in this country.

Now the formalities are out of the way, we can move on to the exciting bit. Xenomania are looking to make new pop stars and THAT COULD BE YOU. They are holding 5 auditions around the country, and one of them is in LEEDS.

Just a quick one.

If anybody thought that The Pigeon Detectives going from Selby to superstardom was a one off for us, then check out the song at number 15 in the charts last week!

Yep - they're all over the radio and telly right now and they played the Town Hall in February.

Congratulations to The Wombats - the next band to go massive who've played our shows. You saw them here first!

Hello everyone,

I hope you're having a cracking holiday and that your exam results were all you had hoped for. Don't listen to the people in the media complaining that exams are getting easier - they're just jealous of your success.

Now, onto matters in hand. We've got a brand new set of shows coming up starting with To My Boy on Sep 14th and I want your help to spread the word. These shows are totally reliant on large audience numbers - anyone who came to Brigade, The Pigeon Detectives and The Wombats will know that.

I'm looking for people to join a Town Hall Street Team putting up posters and flyers in their school/college/chip shop etc. You tell me which areas you can cover and I will send you (or you can pick up) posters and flyers before each show.

In return, not only will you get our love and adoration, but also an exclusive limited edition swanky as anything Town Hall t shirt to make sure all you cads and dandys (ask your dad) look like the belle of the ball round your town or village.

I'm looking for people to cover the following areas - it's a first come first served deal, so let me know straight away if you are interested:

Selby High
Barlby High
Brayton College
Snaith School
Sherburn High
Carlton Holy Family Catholic School
Tadcaster Grammar
Any other places you think are worth covering and deserve a free t shirt!

I will be distributing the posters for the first show some time next week, so send me a message asap if you are interested.

Thanks for all your support, see you soon

chris

Was anyone listening to Jo Whiley this lunchtime on Radio1? There did a feature on The Wombats and some kind soul texted in to say that he saw them first right here at Selby Town Hall - so that's us mentioned on national daytime radio - ta!

If anyone was still doubting the quality of the bands we're getting here, check last weeks album charts - the highest new entry, straight in at number 3, is a lovely bunch of lads calling themselves The Pigeon Detectives. Remember, you saw them here first.

I don't know if you're aware, but "underage" gigs are the biggest thing going in London - every hot new band are clammering to play the kind of show we put on here. Last weeks NME had a nice feature on the teenage scene and I've scanned it in for you to read. It's quite a big file so let it download, save it to your hard disk and read it at your leisure in full size.

I hope it inspires you all to go off and form a band, or at the very least come along to our shows and see others who have.

see you soon

chris

Congratulations to the pigeons on becoming the first of the acts who've played these gigs to hit the top 20. Their new single, Romantic Type, debuted at number 19 in the charts this week.

It's just a matter of time before the others follow - remember, you saw them here first!!!
