I know. I just don't get to myspace much anymore as I have become a facebook fiend. Sorrys. :) Rest assured I am still running. In fact, this week I am trying a little stunt. Those of you that know where I keep the log, and follow it, know how crazy this stunt is. But it is about time that I did it, so there it is.
I feel great, am know that I am back to where I once was at a point when I was also a blogging fiend. :D It amazes me to see what the human body can do when challenged. I would have never guessed that I was capable of what I am doing, but sure enough, here I go again.
Steamtown is coming up again, looming. I truly hope this time I am up to a good race there. It would be nice to have one so close to the place I currently call home. See you around.

I have got to start doing this again. I like the idea of using this in conjuntion with my running log, but this little webspace is to keep track of how I feel
Last week I 'ran' 32.3 very slow miles. I am slightly irritated by the slow pace but things seem to be coming back quickly. With the offending environmental concern removed, I feel much better and very happy to be back running, mostly regularly and for the most part, feeling fine. This is a huge change over the past few months. Let's hope this continues.

Yep, that's right, discipline. I have been lacking it lately. I have these goals I wish to achieve and I really can not do that without discipline. I figured spmething out today. I have no problem doing things for myself. I just need to remember that it does not matter who or what watches me on race day, what matters is what I do during training while no one is watching. I had forgotten that I do this running thing for me. Me first. The rest of you all can watch later. I have goals that I need to work for so I better get working on these goals. That takes discipline. I need to find that inner mojo and bring my discipline back.
It was said on a forum I read recently that someone no longer has time for 30-40 miles a week. Well, neither do I. I need to spend more time running to get what I want out of this whole running thing. 30 mile a week is just maintenace mileage, I need to kick it up and improve. The olympics are over and so are the excuses.
Run more.

So I tried my first ultramarathon yesterday. I ended up pulling out at mile 35 after realizing that I was going to run out of daylight if I continued.
I am not sad. I am very impressed at what I did even though I failed. I crossed a bridge once by myself that was made of railroad ties and I could see through the bottom. I am scared of heights. I crossed a part of the traik that was washed out and alsi high enough up to scare me a little. I could have finished but I needed a pacer or something for the end. I had no pacer lined up. I know better for the next time. I also was slower than normal due to my life right now and less running. I could be much faster in the next try. I don't know if I want to try again, but the race will still be here next year.
I learned so much from failing that I don't really view it a a true fail. A DNF, yes, and my first one, but really not a true fail.
The race was the Viaduct Trail Ultramarathon. Good times, great race. I tried at the 50 mile option. I had a great time.

Last week was a bust. This week does not seem any better. I managed to fit in a meager 39.6 miles last week. I took it easy and the ankle feels fine. This week I have some issues with Aunt Flo that are bad enough that I could not run today. That never happens. I have a 50 miler on August 9th and I have missed two long runs in a row. That is going to make that race fun.

Last weeks mileage was a mere 52.1. Meh. Overtime at work killed the mileage for the week. Hopefully I get more this week.
Today's long run was good. I saw some strange things, like bones for one, but let's not dwell on the negative. 22 miles just for today.

I just managed 56.7 miles last week. I somehow managed to get runners trots bad enough that one run was cancelled after about 5 miles and a day off was in order for the next day. I think one of the guys at work shared a sickness with that one, but I can't be sure. I took another day off from running after I found out I have overtime starting this week. Hey, my roomie offered to take me out to dinner, like I'm gonna say no to that. So, now I have overtime at work and I want to up my mileage. I guess we will see what happens.
As for today, I ran 23 miles. Yup, I am high as a kite.

I am doing more miles on the local Rails-to-Trails. The idea is to get ready for my 50 miler on these trails in August. My only reservation is that the race will be on unimproved parts of the trail this year. I don't think they will be killer trails though, sonwmobiles and cross contry skiers use them during the winter, so they can't be too bad.
I am also working my way up to having back to back long runs on the weekend, or at least a medium long run and a long run on Saturday and Sunday. That should help me get through 50 miles in one go, I hope.
Last week I had just a meager 57.8 miles, but I had 222.5 for the month of May. Not too bad. So far this year, I have covered 1226.4 miles. Not quite as many as this time last year but I usually kick it into high gear during the summer, so I guess we will see what happens.
I think I need to take a look at my diet again. I have been eating too much junk food. I am fine with eating a few chips here and there, but Doritos and salsa cannot be a full meal. Know what I mean? I also think I should try to cut back on my pop again. Back to the grindstone methinks.
I saw my first commercial for the Bejing Olympics today. It almost made me cry. I heart the Olympics.
