Hello friends,

Happy New Year everyone! After a long Fall of touring/recording with our other bands, going to school, running a record label, working at the record store, building a sweat lodge, being a Christmas band, and whatever else we've been doing...AUXILIARY HOUSE IS BACK!

We just recorded a new song called "Fill Me Up" with our friend Zeno Gil at Pox Studios in Durham, NC. The song is for a compilation called "Compulation: Songs from North Carolina" that Zeno's been doing for a few years now. The comps have been great in the past and we're really looking forward to this next installment. There's also a music video in the works for "Fill Me Up." More information on that stuff soon!

We also have two shows coming up in March. The first is March 5th at the Nightlight with our friends These United States and Sweater Weather! Auxiliary House will be performing as part of These United States' backing band as well as playing our own set! The other show is March 23rd at the Local 506 with SubPop act Blitzen Trapper and Fleet Foxes. Blitzen Trapper put out one of my favorite records of the year and I positively love what I've heard of Fleet Foxes. We're really excited! Come out at 8:30p to make sure you catch Aux House. Hope to see you out at one of the shows.

Keep an eye for more information regarding the comp, shows, more recordings, music video, etc!!

Much love,

Auxiliary House

hey all! so i realized it's been a little bit since we wrote one of these here blogs. so...

aux house is in full swing again, in part thanks to this beautiful spring weather. we're spending the next couple months writing and recording new material, so next time you see us, there'll be tons ons new things. we're all really excited about how the new songs are coming together; waltzes and creepy folk songs and drumlines and horn fanfares and singalongs and new arrangements of old favorites and pirate drinking songs and much more!! we're not sure whether we'll be going into a studio to record, or we might do it at the new house/studio trekky's moving into! exciting stuff. we'll start playing out again early this summer with hopefully some new recordings in hand.

also, in july we'll be going on our first ever AUXILIARY HOUSE TOUR!! that's right, if you live on the east coast you'll have a bus of fifteen people ready to hang out rolling through in july! we really can't wait to see all you guys. definitely drop us a line if you want to hang out.

beyond the band, people have been up to lots of different things:

--ARI PICKER is starting up our very own auxiliary house publishing company. this is really exciting for us! he also just released his new EP, "Time Taunts Me" on trekky records. go over to www.trekkyrecords.com for more info.

--KEVIN MCNAMEE-TWEED is currently compiling a book which will feature art, poetry, writings, scribbles, etc. from members of the auxiliary house crew (including CHARLES PERRY, CHRSITINE PERRY, MARTIN ANDERSON, KEVIN MCNAMEE-TWEED, SUSIE SIMPSON) and many other talented friends. we will keep you updated as things progress.

--JOSH KIMBROUGH is hard at work on his project, Butterflies (myspace.com/butterfliesnc). they've been touring this winter and will record a record this april. backing josh up live and/or on record are aux house members ROSS CONNOLLY, BOBBY BRITT, MARTIN ANDERSON, EMMA NADEAU, and KATIE ZICKEFOOSE as well as good friend TRAVIS DIEHL. keep an eye out.

--Aux house members WILL HACKNEY and DYLAN "TWAN" JARRELL are backing up trekky brother-in-arms STEPHEN TUNNELL for an upcoming vibrant green recording. not sure yet what will come of the sessions, but should be great.

--JON MACKEY is working his ass off in school, doing a lot of film stuff (which will be posted on auxiliaryhouse.com soon), and playing a bunch with his other band called sweater weather.

--STUART BELL recently finished to new endless mic record with co-emcee zano, beatman deez, and never/lost in the trees producer ian schreier. it sounds great and the band will be hitting the road this summer, so keep an eye out!

--WIL DONEGAN is still studying in london. we really miss him, but he'll be home soon!

so yeah, tons of exciting stuff going on! we can't wait to see all of you at some trekky events in the coming months and then of course this summer!

have a great one and remember: new music is on the way!

love,

aux house

hey all,

So as you may know, Aux House banded together with the rest of the Trekky roster to form a Christmas band called The Trekky Yuletide Orchestra.  The Trekky Yuletide Orchestra recieved some love from Pitchfork Media this morning with a track review of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."  You can read it here.  The Herald Sun also ran a feature, available here.  Check out the Yuletide Orchestra on WKNC tonight at 6pm.  Love all of you, happy holidays, and see you at the Cradle on Monday!

much love,
Aux House

hey all,

how's it going? thanks so much to everyone that's been coming out to all the shows the last few months--they really have been such a blast! we hope you've all had as much fun as we have!

some news! we're recording a little EP at the end of the month with Jerry Kee out at Duck Kee Studios in Mebane (Superchunk, Polvo, The Strugglers, etc)! we're really excited about it! we'll be releasing the songs by ourselves as a little handmade EP that we'll be selling at shows. we'll definitely post some songs up here as soon as they're done.

also, we've got a bunch of shows in the works, so we'll be adding like crazy over the next few days! if you want to work up a show or get us to come to your town, please write us--we'd love to do it!

most of aux house has been backing stephen tunnell as vibrant green over the last several months. we're playing a bunch of shows over the next few months, so keep an eye on www.myspace.com/vibrantgreen for details.

finally, we're putting the finishing touches on the auxiliary house website which will contain music, photos, art, as well as a blog! we'll definitely let you know when we launch that.

awesome, hope to see you all soon and take good care!

much love,

its like...the feeling of a water bass gliding. stringless and weightful and polite. its a bass. its a water bass. one of those fish. a water bass! married to the water and sick of the atmosphere. a special pet to the rejected gods who cough and sputter like leaves in spokes.
